i really think people these days just don’t understand the point of tumblr? like this isn’t instagram or facebook. it’s a blogging platform (whatever you take that to be) which is all about how your page looks… meaning you have to actually uhhhhh reblog posts if you’re not gonna make your own… and even if you make your own you should still support other content creators on here. i mean goddamn i’m really out here acting as if my like button is broken…., if you see me liking your post it’s because i’m going to reblog or queue it in a few hours. the only other possible reason is if the Internet Demons are holding me at gunpoint and forcing me to press like. staff needs to just go ahead and disable the like button because this ain’t working lol anyway please reblog posts

i just want to point out that nearly every negative response to this post is just further proving my point that people who haven’t been here for very long or don’t interact with content makers/make content themselves just have no clue why this is an issue. i am FAR from being the first person to point this out but this is something we’re still forced to defend because some people think it’s stupid, self-centered, etc. to be upset about reblogs. to those people I just want to say: what do you think you’re gonna do on this site once you drive off all the gif makers, editors, artists, etc.? do you think you’re going to get the same level of well-crafted and creative exposure to your favorite content on twitter and instagram, websites that notoriously steal from here? you simply will not. it will cease to exist unless another better platform comes along, right now there isn’t one. you want to keep berating editors for pointing this out, go right ahead, but don’t pretend you have the moral high ground for saying “uwu let people do what they want!~”. you fundamentally misunderstand the point of this website.

I have loved Dolly Parton since that time I read an interview with her and the interviewer asked her why she was wearing all that make-up and fake-blonde hair and she said words to the effect that, “when I take all that off no one knows what I look like. Here are some key takeaways:

They only publish Adult Fiction (no YA, middle-grade, or children’s)

Inkyard Press, their sister imprint, is going to be doing a similar open call in August for YA novels across all genres (link to Twitter thread)

No sci-fi, fantasy, horror, or nonfiction

Romance/romantic women’s fiction can be sent to HQN Imprint who are doing a similar open call (link to Twitter thread), but the editors acquire manuscripts for both imprints and will make sure it gets to the right place

They are open to international Black writers + Black writers of any gender

While they will only make an offer for completed manuscripts, they still look at unfinished manuscripts and may request to see more material
