semi-permanent hiatus notice
So due to some things, i’m probably not going to be coming back to this blog. I might, but its highly likely it will be a good while. as much as i love dick, its just not happening right now.
if you want to stay in touch or get a message when/if i make a new blog/come back to this one, i have a skype. shoot me a message and i’ll give it to you. i’ll be around tonight/tomorrow to respond to those.
[ so i’m here and its my weekend so i’ll hopefully be around but my depression is kicking my ass so. we’ll see. will probably only be replying to select threads. ]
that hesitation and temptation simmer like boiling oil, potent for destruction before dick finally reasons himself through the upset. kris swallows against the sting of it, that unhappy concession, before nodding carefully. “alright. just take a few breaths, it won’t take long.”
with permission it doesn’t take any time at all, nails sinking into his own palm enough to draw blood and carefully reach over to trace it across the wound. his control over the materials he’s made of is absolute, though hard won, and simple will is enough to connect through blood and genetic material; kris tells the wound to heal, to knit itself together as veins reconnect and muscle fibers weave together. it’s fast, as promised- less than thirty seconds before kris steps back again, bloody hands held out in a peaceful gesture.
it would have been even faster, had kris ignored dick’s protests and healed him— but there’s no justification for violating that autonomy, that bodily consent.
especially not after the evening earlier this week.
dick turns his face away and concentrates on taking deep, even breaths as kris reaches for him. he has to force himself not to flinch when fingers brush over the edges of the wound. and then he’s met with the odd sensation of his skin knitting itself back together, a sharp yet not painful feeling that lasts no more than thirty seconds.
he traces gloved fingers over the freshly healed skin, poking when he doesn’t feel any pain. he takes another step back from kris, putting distance between them.
“thanks,” he says, tone uncertain.
and then he turns and dives off the edge of the building in the direction of the kidnappers. every second he waits is more time they have to escape. he can’t waste any more.
(if it gets him away from the angel causing confusing thoughts to swirl in his head... well, that’s a bonus.)
first instinct is still to run off, he thinks he could maybe lose grayson if he was fast enough. but instead simply nods, a tentative step toward the other. immediately regretted, but unable to be taken back now. “we just go ‘round in circles, dickie bird, ‘s what we always do.” words mumbled quietly under his breath.
dick gestures to one of his kitchen chairs, sliding in to the other one. something in his chest loosens at that small step forward, that silent acknowledgement that jason isn’t running. yet. “nothin’ saying we can’t break the pattern just this once,” he says softly, hopefully.

dick walks over to his counter and picks up one of the tarts, inspecting it closely. it seems fairly normal, a mixture of blueberries and raspberries, baked to golden perfection. “i shudder at the thought of what xhe would do if left to xhir own devices without my kitchen.” hesitantly, he takes a bite of the tart. with lel, it’s about 50/50 if xhir baked goods taste anything approaching normal. this one is definitely one of the successes and he makes a soft noise of delight. “green apples and tuna fish?”
