He leans against the door frame much too casually for someone entirely covered in soot and other various unidentifiable substances. Not to mention it’s just about three in the morning. “Look, it wasn’t even my fault.”

She’s being kept under . The men that had dragged her into a back of a van off the street seemed to have some knowledge of who she was , what she could do , and why it was extremely necessary not to wake her .

Gotham was the notorious underbelly of the criminal world , a place talked about like the boogeyman in stories she heard on the news . A murder here , gang violence there . She knew when she entered the world of crime years ago it was the one place she didn’t want to end up .

And here she was , half sedated , another mutant being put up for auction . She would have guessed they were sex traffickers . Before the bullets began to fly she’d understood the czech phrase ‘ for sale ’ and felt the cold stab of anger at not being able to escape . What felt like days ( who knows ? Maybe so ) passed until something , or someone , attacked the building . And as disconnected from reality as she was , as this masked man was taking the IV out of her she gasped and blinked silver sky blue eyes open and demanded , feigning courage in light of how confused and afraid she felt with a soft command ,

                     ❝ Who are you ? ❞ 

And had he killed them all before she had the chance to ....

     “Dad? How do you know if you’re really in love with someone?” Just normal out of the blue questions were the name of the game that morning as she sat on the kitchen counter (Darcy purring on her lap) as she watched her dad cook dinner.

The afternoon had been more of the same for Barbara Gordon. 

Log some hours at the University where she could keep the closest eye on Stephanie, stop by the library to pick up her requested books after visiting her Physical Therapist, and indulge in a tall hand-crafted coffee to help her slip seamlessly out of her daytime routine and into her evening job.

It wasn’t until she was waiting for her drink to be prepared, however, that Babs found herself able to spare a glance at her cell. Silently she cursed herself, having forgotten to unsilenced the phone after leaving the campus like she normally did. 

“Shit.”

For several moments she found herself staring blankly at the screen, scrutinizing her instincts. 

She had a feeling that her day was about to get a lot more interesting. 

And with that, Barbara silenced her doubts and selected ‘redial’.

                  time check:  12nn.  the wayne manor was still  CREEPY  with all those damn knights that felt as though they were following her every move,  she was running low on sleep and she needed alfred’s cooking.  the blonde settled herself down by the dining room and what she didn’t know was that there was a meeting of the dead robins’ club.  blue oculars curiously looked at the red hood,  she even went as far as too leaning a  LITTLE BIT  closer just to get a better look of him.  finally,  she spoke,       “  it’s midday.  why are you  SULKING  at midday  ??  “     she asked as if it was blasphemy to sulk at midday.  stephanie brown was very well aware that it was none of her business,  but curiosity was always her biggest temptation.
