Charmed by these vintage looking shichimi and ichimi spice tins at the local izakaya. Has a similar vibe to hanafuda card illustrations. A lot more flavours and fantastic designs at Yawataya Isogoro ć «ćčĄć±ç€äșé.

Skipped the highway driving from Saga to Fukuoka. Rewarded with views of these majestic mountains.

Hanging House Vibes
Itâs been a while since I last read Wind Up Bird Chronicles. Yet, every time I walk by this house, I canât help but think of the mysterious vibes of the Hanging House (even though itâs far too modern and I am almost certain that there is no access to a well, baseball bat and computer with monochrome monitor and dot matrix screen.)
End of August hangs at Center Island.
Camping trip to Ferris Park - Campbellford, Ontario. Local hangs and Crowe Bridge Conservation Area.Â
Family hangs at Kensington Market today.Â
Found out that LEGO will be launching a refreshed Galaxy Explorer in a few days. We pulled out an old LEGO box and restored the 6980: Galaxy Commander set from 1983. Itâs amazing to find instructions on just about every set online. It was also nerve-wracking looking for obscure pieces that may or may not have been lost after all these years. From scanning the instructions, remembering the pieces that we need for the step, combing through boxes of loose pieces with the trademark noise of pieces colliding with one another and finally finding the one piece feels quite rewarding. I am glad we were able to bond as a family and feeling nostalgic. My kids also understand LEGO speak now as they have an idea of what â6x2 flat in blueâ means.Â
It was pouring out today. After lunch, I remembered that the santoku needed some work. From soaking the stones, marking the edge, finding the angle, working my way up the grit and deburring along the way. It was a therapeutic and super zen working on the knife this afternoon.Â
Strawberry picking at Robintide Farms. Beautiful day for family hangs.
Camping vibes at Ferris Park, Campbellford. We havenât gone camping since the pandemic. Itâs lovely to be out in nature again, experiencing everything our country has to offer.Â
A few snaps with the Olympus OMD-EM5. It has been years since we came down to the game at the Dome as a family. The Jays lifted the red jersey curse with commanding 9-2 win over the Rays. I was a bit star struck seeing Kirk, Menoah, BerrĂos, Gausman, and Kikuchi in person (seats overlooking the bullpen). Itâs lovely to be attending events again. HBD Canada!
I carved out a bit of time this morning to take it slow for the morning ritual. From a design perspective, I find craft, tradition and ritual fascinating when we live in a world of convenience, speed, promise laden tech.
