A Strange Spectacle

At my graduation party in 2001 some friends and I saw something in the sky. It was gone by the time we talked about it. There was an almost comical lack of agreement among us about its shape and color.

At least two people thought it was some strange spectacle. I just assumed it was a balloon blowing along. Someone said it was moving against the wind and it seemed like they were right. One or two people thought it had an elongated oval profile which I could sort of see after I thought about it. Like I said I thought it was an ordinary balloon when I saw it so I didn’t give it much attention or commit the details to memory.

The witness who was most sure of himself and most excited about the sighting was my friend Will. He said it looked like a bunch of pyramids attached to upside down pyramids. Understandably, I’m intrigued by your friend Will’s description, I suppose I could see how that would resemble an elliptical shape.

When I was in high school, I had dial-up internet even though most people had already switched to DSL. There was an AOL call alert function in the browser so we wouldn't miss a call while interneting. One day, the call alert pops up but the incoming number is the home phone number. I log off anyway and answer the phone. No answer. This happens again about 20mins later. Later that day I'm telling my mother about it, the phone rings. I joke that if there's no answer that I'll scream. No answer.

Oh dear D:One could argue it is a bug within the system or electronics, though I imagine this has not occurred with the same phone since then (presuming you still own the same device)Cant imagine you were looking at the clack at all when you got these calls, perhaps some more defined meaning could be derived from the particular times of day. Dang spooks, messin up your internet times. >:I

I didn't touch anything on the counter besides my cup, which I had taken with me back to the couch. The sink was empty on both sides, & as I said before everything else was in its place. This past summer I was up at 3 am getting something to eat, & I thought I saw a shadow move off the same counter just on the edge of my light. I pointed it over there, & there was nothing there, but I heard the noise again. The "thump" was softer, I barely heard it, but the click was clear as the first time.

Hmmmmm, possibly residual, shadow entities though rarely are so be careful if this is such the case.

Unwanted Attention

I have a friend of mine who seems to attract odd things and I guess I was a passing victim of some of the weird (his story is actually really interesting, I’ll see if he wants to submit it sometime).

Anyway, I was visiting him and his wife in their apartment in Austin, Texas in December one year for a couple days. They had a two bedroom apartment and another friend of ours had been using the spare room while her and her fiancé had been looking for their own place but were now in the process of moving out so the room was full of boxes. While I visited, the spare room was to be where I slept of course.

I tried to explain the uneasiness I felt in the spare room away as a product of the mountains of half packed boxes. The room was also really long and at the end was this circular window that you could sit in. It was just a really weird room in practice. I didn’t just feel weird sleeping there but even during the day when I had to go in there to change I would cram myself up against the door and change as quickly as possible. Like I was late for something. I didn’t sleep well the first night.

The second night I made some excuse and convinced my friends to let me sleep on the couch. I fell asleep on my stomach but was startled awake by the sensation of a hand reaching up and grabbing and running up the back of my leg. It was scary but I calmed myself down by convincing myself that it was just a really vivid dream. Except that just a few minutes later before I even had a chance to get sleepy again the exact sensation went up the front of my other leg, the feeling of five very well defined fingers around my leg in a disturbingly intimidate fashion.

I left early the next morning but when I talked with my friends about it it wasn’t the only weird thing to happen in that apartment but I honestly don’t think it was the apartment causing it.

Dislike spirits whom seem to have no concept for personal space, I’m sorry you had to experience this.

Now you say you don’t believe the location is the reasoning behind your incident; may I ask what you believe what it could have been? Or perhaps you’re referring to just the entity itself?

I live near a forest and one night at around 10:00 a beam of red and blue light came from the sky for a split second and I heard a stereotypical sci-fi movie laser noise and about a week later I found a deer skeleton near where the beam was

Oh my word, was the skeleton flesh free? Also do you recall any scents or burned area around the deer? :O

When I was about 12/13, I was home alone sickish. I was feeling better and got myself a glass of water. Just as I had got to the couch again, I heard something fall off the counter in the kitchen- a soft thump like something had light landed on one of the mats in there, then what sounded like a cat's claws trying to get traction on the tile. I checked, and no one had come home, everything was in its place. Our cat Cleo died when I was 2, and there hasn't been a cat in my house since.

Hmmmmm, I’m curious of what would have been on the counter prior to this event, despite everything being in place. Did you happen to move anything in your space of retrieving the water? Even if not, “could” be an animal spirit, but we all know too well that claw sounds are not exclusive to pets. Have you heard this sound again?

What kind of stories are you looking for?

Any personal stories or stories related to you in some personal sense that involved the out of the norm. Really anything that has happened to you that has made you wonder “what the heck was that all about?”Then I open the stories up for discussion (unless not permitted) and we can all discuss if interested!

It's not exactly folklore but when I was at my friend's house something growled at us in a gurgly way from under her bed, and both her dogs were downstairs. Also, she'd just hoovered her room in time for a party and I kept finding tiny shards of glass and broken pins everywhere (as in the head of the pin was broken off and if it lodged in someone's foot it would require surgery to remove). Whatever is in her room isn't very nice at all. I'm in the South East of the UK.

Oh my word, this sounds vaguely inter-dimensional, I have heard of objects randomly appearing from other time periods. Woman from way back kept having pennies from the early 1900s show up in her house so often that she was able to fill a jar with them, though its very difficult to comprehend how this could work.The growling though, no visual on what emanated such a noise correct? Could be purely beastial, or possibly demonic. Do have to be open to the noise not being of aggression as well.Doesn’t have to be specifically folklore, but its “lore” by you “folks” aha. I’m hilarious.

I’ll Show You

I was once at a theater with my dad. We were watching Avengers: Age of Ultron. we were at a part where something was being overloaded with electricity, then, the power went out. while there were still emergency lights on, it was still very creepy. some people in the theater went to see whats wrong, and it was the normal power outage. however, i don’t believe many people knew that the theater is haunted. (its Arnold 14 Cine in St. Louis, MO.) so, me and my dad eventually wondered out of the specific theater we were in and headed for the lobby. 

My dad and i knew that it was indeed haunted and we always asked the employees if they've seen anything. sometimes they do know, or have seen something themselves, but one time, an employee told us a story. it was about a girl named Hannah (or was it Helen? i honestly don’t remember which, but do believe it was hannah.) she had gotten killed (or injured, i don’t exactly have crystal clear memory) on the left side of the theater, which many employees have called “the haunted side.” so, being the paranormal-loving people we are, my dad and i head for the left side. we walk slowly down the hallway all the way to the door without seeing anything. however, when i turn around, I’m greeted by a apparition of a girl standing near a trashcan in the hall. theres a red liquid surrounding her. she smiles at me, and then disappears. 

My dad turns around, not seeing anything that just happened, and we stroll down the hallway. I don’t say a word about it.

When we get back to the lobby, i hear the staff, which is a bunch of teenage girls and a couple of guys, talk amongst themselves. i ask them about the power outage and one tells me, “Right before the power outage, i got a call from an unknown number on the theater phone. it was a girl, and she said, ‘I’ll show you.’”

After that, we went home, but not before getting two free passes for the next movie we saw.

This is super boring but one time I saw a bunch of lights in the woods and it might have been mothmen/aliens/werewolves (which are common in my state) and I still remember it.

Very interesting! What were said lights doing if you can recall? Any noise or smell that accompanied them?

Well it Interesting!, too bad that I haven’t seen anything paranormal in my Entire Life!. But I know few people that hacen seen some thing like those Things!.

(Chupacabra killin’ all Roosters of my Brother, Few uncles seeing something like a Chupabracabra-like Creatures, “Big birds” and also “The Llorona”!… I’m Not sure if You’re Interested in Stories/Folk Stories like Those. (Everyone in Mexico)

Hello Pumpkins!

Welcome to Folk Lore, a weekly art blog designed to share YOUR stories.
