i went to the richard diebenkorn exhibition at the RA yesterday and i left a packet of sausages in the cloakroom. (this was my favourite, though i’ve got a lot of time for the early urbana/albuquerque pics!)

i am going to change my screensaver from this really dramatic casper david friedrich image because i am feeling a lot happier and zen.
reading and re-reading this james wood article for the lrb for my essay, it somes up the longing feelings of émigré displacement that i think you find in w.g. sebald’s novels that i have been trying to conjure up in my essay. my favourite part is the section on luckasz and ‘transcendental homelessness’, refashioned by wood to ‘secular homelooseness’ and fits perfectly the melancholic, dejected feeling of ‘not belonging’ manifest in sebald’s book. in the recorded podcast of the essay, originally a lecture at the lrb’s bookshop, james wood sings ‘when the boat comes in’, stressing the song’s accented geordie. although wood grew up in durham he speaks with an unaccented “rp” voice he speaks of feeling a sort deficiency, or inauthenticity, at his lack of accent. the geordie accent has a personal resonance, reminding me of my grandma and my aunty sylvia and uncle jake; thus hearing james wood sing inscribes another sort of longing.

i really hope brentford beat fulham away tomorrow for many reasons, but mostly so that the effort that the beesotted twitter has put into promoting the hashtag #beesupfulhamdown has not been in vain.
i just had the most stressful lunch of my entire life trying to eat soup from a flask in the silent area, mark my words i will not be eating my apple.
too much silence around the fact that it's really hard to itch your bum in jeans, almost like some sort of nsa style conspiracy, words got to get out, it is hard to itch your bum in jeans!!!
Anne Imhof’s performance commission DEAL premieres this weekend at MoMA PS1. In addition to human performers, the work features Flemish Giant rabbits from Sunny Oaks Rabbits in Long Island. The rabbits were bred to be shown and have been shown their whole lives, so they are accustomed to the spotlight.

i have got a little fringe back also. i am in westminster library feeling so ~spring~ by this open window.
please forgive me tumblr for i have been absent! it is proving difficult to juggle a job and a Masters and doing all the reading and research I want to do as well as the reading I have to do and then fit in time for my first love GETTING THE ALES IN!
all i talk about is being tired, but at the moment i am planning an essay that draws parallels between w.g. sebald and tacita dean. this is for my memory and justice course, which is a compulsory module from within the politics department which i have been struggling with, i just heart critical analysis you see! i am thinking of writing on memories of world war two within germany and how guilt, complicity and the impact of aerial bombing are cognised (or not!) and how they make manifest in general consciousness (and the ways in which this is articulated in the artworks of two artists without primary memory of world war two).
other than schoolwork a thing i have been enjoying the will self orbits CERN podcasts. i am a confirmed BIG FAN of will self, last week my friends tim and jo attended a talk that he did and will self spent the whole talk vaping from a vapepipe! wtf! then after the talk he did a wee in a urinal next to my friend tim and tim didn't have a peek! double wtf! anyway, not possessing a scientific brain i am heartened by will self's bafflement at encountering the large hadron collider and CERN. an analogy made during the podcasts by akram khan. equates the meeting of self and CERN with two people who speak two entirely different languages. remembering that knowledge doesn't have to be protean is something that often escapes me, thanks for reminding me will! will self attempts to emphasise the parallels drawn between CERN and religion and the mutuality of their desire to understand the nature of material reality, CERN however seem hellbent on refusing to accept a philosophical underpinning to their actions, which you'll be surprised to learn leads to some comic moments! and there's also a really good bit where he talks about his prostate!
ok bye now hopefully for a shorter period of time.
Prada ss2001 was so good
darcey asked ben who he would come as if he came to her kardashian's themed 21st birthday party and he responded "i would come as rob in his fat stage and not come". some seriously seminal humour right there!!!
Watching spaced (as usual) and pondering the big questions aka was i as swaggy as north west??
