BACKGROUND
triggers: death
she doesn’t know her father who passed away when she was still a toddler but her mother often told tales about his deeds, saying he was a personal guard to the royals who died in the line of duty
her memories of her mother are blurry too, for her mother passed away when she was around six years old. a nurse with a heart bigger than her body, she often overworked herself and her health finally failed her
most of her relatives lived away from the capital city except her uncle, someone considered a bit ‘eccentric’ by the rest of the family, so with much reluctance they allowed him to take her under his wing
he wasn’t a scholar obsessed with his studies and not one who knew much about child rearing, but he made sure he met her needs and took her with him to the library of alestria every single day
the other scholars and the librarians were like surrogate guardians to her during the hours she stayed in the library and kept her company or fed her snacks when they had time
otherwise surrounded by books, she spent most of her youth reading between fictions, non-fiction, anything she could get her hands on. she would compile questions to ask the scholars when they had time and there was a constant thirst for knowledge
in reverse, living her life among books and using fictions to form her world, she wasn’t as interested in socializing with other children around her age. people around her would set her up with their children or outings and she would obediently go but she never felt the need to create close connections. but she didn’t give the cold shoulder either she made ‘friends’ but kept her distance
it wasn’t a surprise to any of the people at the library when she made it into alestria academy. she was smart, and she was skilled, plus being a ‘child’ of a distinguished scholar, it seemed as if life would naturally propel her that way
there was a lot more necessity to socialize at the school, much to her chagrin. while she did well academically, learning how to adjust to the sudden influx of all the children around her age took longer
she wasn’t naïve enough where people could con her or push her around. sharp tongued the girl knew what to say and when to say it to protect herself. but a part of her was bluntly honest mostly, and she was a person who ran by her curiosity and own belief than other people’s expectations
but still she succeeded. upon graduating she worked as a librarian back at the place that was like her second home through all the years. it was only a few months ago that she became head librarian after the previous person retired and now here she is
WANTED CONNECTIONS
childhood friends, schoolmates, current friends, actual cousins or any sort of relatives, family like friends because she’s been around them so much it’s absorbed in
people who visit the library often and so she’s come to know them because of it they could be there to study, there to work, be fellow workers even, or people who really love reading, any other reason for her to bump into them
firtationships, crushes, exes, fwb, set up because their friends thought they’d look cute together, was on a dating app and things seemed to work out, the messier the better too
situational friends, the people she only hangs out with when they’re heading to a club or a bar, or maybe the friends she needs around when she runs errands or heads to the vegas market to explore, or friends she only meets when they come to visit the capital and otherwise don’t really talk to
share a secret aka two people who have a giant secret together but are constantly afraid the other will rat them out so that’s the reason they stick together out of distrust and not because they like each other’s presence
