April 2014 - December 2016
2017 is coming up in a few weeks and I've been cleaning/decluttering a lot of stuff. Rn I’m in the process of decluttering my social media/photography stuff. My Flickr is donezo, I don’t remember the password or the email I used for it LOL; it’s been dead for a while now. I was planning on using it for a refined version of this tumblr but that didn't work out as planned. This tumblr is also donezo. I haven’t been posting or shooting in a while. My queue has run dry. I used this primarily as a photo dump and I haven't even taken a second look at MOST of the stuff I shot. So I’m retiring it. I’ll still keep it up tho, incase I do decide to want to look through it again (Looking thru the raw and edited folders on my ex drive would be a HUGE pain). My current IG w/ the same SN: Areex78. I will also retire. Looking back, I used that account for 3 things. The first was to remember, mostly family and friends stuff and concert stuff. The second was to take hipster ass pictures of things that caught my eye. Things that caught my eye and things that I thought would catch other people’s eyes. How do you stay real and not lust for +1 +2 +100 followers. Anything for the GRAM right?? The last one to be honest was FOMO. If you didn’t gram it, snap it, FB it, it didn't happen right? It sucks to say but that is what I feel like social media has transformed into these days. “Look at me living my life looking so cool doing this!.” The HUGE undertone is “look at me, now what about you?” Mad guilty of this, consciously and subconsciously. I made a few attempts at re-adjusting, like doing #nofilter, posting more than one post a day, stopped w/ the hashtag game. But then it would just happen again. I aspired for meaningful content, but that aspiration and the content would quickly get deluged w/ the opposite. Another side note on my IG that I didn't like was it was really missing a sense of cohesiveness. There would be street photography photos, rave stuff, daily life, etc. It kind of had no sense of direction. I tried for a while w/ a band aid solution; adding white boarders to landscape photos, but that also eventually fell off. SOOO, w/ my current IG account, imma post 9 white photos to mark the end. I’ll still keep it active though, just to view and like content from the people I follow, and just so I don't end up as a #NathanDoesntHaveIG tag. Content/posting wise, I’ve been holding onto another account. I haven’t done anything w/ it yet, but this year I’ll give it ago. It’ll be ANOTHER attempt at finding the right platform for my stuff. So pretty much IG, Tumblr, Flickr, + HOPEFULLY meaningful content. As of rn I still don't know if I should share the account or just go private for a year. I mean, am I still considered alive, even tho I don't post? HAHA. #2017
