Now here we have Floserd Anatomy! As I mentioned in the “What are Floserds” post, they are plants with a cow-like shape, so let’s go into that!!
Now to clarify before I get into this also: Floserd anatomy is like a fusion of plant anatomy, cow anatomy, and plant cell anatomy.
For the head, it’s a bit similar to what we know, but not exact.
Firstly, their entire body is filled with soil. This is due to the fact that they’re grown from the ground [I don’t know if I’ll get into Floserd Birth, but slight summary: they grow from seeds in the ground, and then grow out, so some of the dirt they were born in gets trapped basically inside of them, helping them function.]
This soil helps the roots (not shown in drawing), which absorbs nutrients from the soil and disperse it to the rest of their body.
Then there’s their brain, which is… a Mitochondria. Because, I guess you could say, the Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the Floserds-
i couldn’t help myself XD
then, for the teeth, and their “bone”, they have a Sclerenchyma. It’s a part of plants, and it basically is like an outline that’s in between the soil & their skin. As they don’t have muscles & bones like humans and animals do, the Sclerenchyma is the flexible yet sturdy part of them that lets them bend and move! In fact, they’re double jointed thanks to this not really limiting their movement! And quite flexible, I should’ve stated that-
But this Sclerenchyma slightly comes up through the soil to make their bottom row of teeth (fun fact: cows don’t have an upper row of teeth - they have a hard gum for the top - only a bottom row, and the same can be said for the Floserds, except they have a tougher packing of dirt for their ‘gums’)
There is an exception, however, that only shows up for 1 variant, but we’ll get there we’ll get there.
Now we get to the upper body. I could’ve just called this part the upper body but it’s too late we’re moving on-
For their “heart”, it’s the seed they were grown from! The seed is different for each Floserd, as for the main image as the top, it’s a lilypad seed for my oc Lily, and for this anatomy part the seed is a chamomile seed for my sona, Chamomile
Floserds don’t have lungs. This is because being plants, they breathe through their leaves. Though, not all Floserds have leaves, so luckily they can also breathe through their flower tails!
This is also why they have a behavior, whenever they’re under soil (like when new Floserds are growing, and for Desert Floserds when sleeping in the sand) they typically keep their tail out in the air
then there’s the hooves (and also the horns, forgot to mention that earlier-) which are made of Prickles (not thorns nor spines. Prickles. There’s actually a difference fun fact!)
Then for the paw pads, that’s just packed-up dirt again, similar to the gums. And now I know what you might be thinking: no the Floserds aren’t predators because of the paw pads thing. The reason they have paw pads is the same reason camels have them [fun fact Camels have paw pads][so do Tarantulas I’ve heard?-]: For protection.
Though Camels have them for heat, if I remember correctly? But Floserds have these tough paddings to help them when they get to tougher surfaces like rocks, to protect them :3
Desert Floserds have tougher paddings since they climb more cliffs & also cacti, but Water Floserds have softer paddings since they typically don’t need to climb, since they swim. But we’ll get into the subvariants later-
Finally, their stomachs!! I wanted to go into this one because this is my favorite part, as it combines both Plant Cell & Cow anatomy!!
Floserd Stomachs are like giant Vacuoles. The food they eat & the water they drink goes down to the Vacuoles, getting broken down in their stomachs. They have 4 stomachs like a cow! They also sometimes do the cow thing where they chew their cud :3
but once it’s fully digested, the food goes 2 ways:
Into the soil
This is how the soil gets nutrients to carry throughout the body, from the Vacuole spitting out nutrients for their body!!
2. To the udders
Especially when it comes to the water they drink, it goes into the udders, mixing a little bit w/ their flowery nature to create a tea. This tea is typically given to nurse their young, as well as to help soothe injured Floserds, but it can also be offered as a friendly gift to anyone they meet :3 [they’ll usually - when offering it as a gift - carry a little bit in a leaf or a clay bowl they might make]
and then once again, they have a Sclerenchyma tracing the inner part.
ALSO - had to hop back real quick - there’s other options for the belly:
I already mentioned them having udders
But they can also have nothing there (which the ones who have no udders don’t have to eat as much to get enough food for both their soil & udders, cus they have no udders)
but then there’s also the Pouches!! Parasitic Floserds are the only variant to have evolved to grow pouches, due to an extra skin area for them to hold the babies in :3
this is because Parasitic Floserds are typically faster than your average Floserds, and since the babies are too young to keep up, they get carried in the pouches
For the Parasitic Floserds, the ones with the pouches are called the Carriers
Now unfortunately the leg’s pretty plain, and has stuff we already mentioned:
Though sometimes for certain Floserd variants - like the Desert & Parasitic variants that have longer paw pads (and also fun fact real quick to interrupt myself: both of those variants also have tougher paw pads since they’re usually the variants that fight more, and also the Desert ones have to climb cactus for fruit) - their back hoof prickle is a bit higher up
Now for the tail!! Unfortunately I… did do this research like… lemme check… 2 years ago in August… so I might not remember it all.
the tail also has the inner Sclerenchyma, so I’m not gonna explain that part again, but the rest of the tail is your average plant anatomy.
This is what I forgot, I forgot the plant anatomy. I’ll try and find something to link right… here.
technically, this is the part that can identify a Floserd’s sex? But they also don’t have concepts of gender like humans do. So they can identify as whatever they want? But some Floserds have a pollinating part, and others a seed-producing psrt
This is also where I’ll quickly elaborate (no we’re not going into detail. Yet. Maybe. Idk maybe I’ll do a page talking about Floserd Birth i don’t know.):
The tails are how Floserds make babies. They don’t have any other ways (they also cannot pee nor poop. Any waste is created as mostly oxygen, with a small percentage of carbon dioxide, which is produced from their like plants do), so it comes from the seed that produces in that little upside-down spot shown in the drawing.
If producing a seed, that part swells, and then the flower pops off when the seed’s ready to come out.
a Floserds’ flower coming off does not mean they’ll suffocate nor die. They can still breathe from the stem of the tail. If the entire tail was gone tho and they had no leaves, then yes they’ll die.
Some Floserds can produce leaves on their tail, and some can even produce leaves from their back (they look like wings but they don’t work like wings), which make it slightly easier for them to breathe (like they’re pro breathers when they got leaves XD), and also can help to absorb more water & sunlight :D
They also produce pollen from the… center yellow part. But only some Floserds do that tho.
And while I don’t know much about this, I will at least state: there can be intersex Floserds. I just don’t know much about intersex people nor intersex plants, so I’m not gonna try to describe it. I’m pretty sure intersex plants probably exist tho, so intersex Floserds can too.
Anyways, I did also do some drawings of 2 variant anatomies :3
First one (left) is a Desert Floserd anatomy, portrayed by my sona Cliff
it’s almost the same as every other Floserd, except with sand instead of soil. The sand still works mostly the same tho :3
Then the second one (right) is a Parasitic (plain) Floserd, portrayed by my oc Langsi
not only does Langsi have a pouch - making them a Carrier - but their Sclerenchyma also slightly stick out of the ‘gums’, giving them slight fangs (but still not a full upper row of teeth)
Parasitic Floserds get this so they can easily suck nutrients from other Floserds. Their fangs stab through the skin, connecting to the soil, which their roots also connect to their little fangs, absorbing the nutrients from the other Floserd’s soil
Langsi also does have leaves on their back, as shown there
And then also for Water Floserds (I didn’t draw a full anatomy to show this unfortunately-), they’re basically the same as regular Floserds, except for:
Wet soil/sand inside (depends on the body of water they were born in, like Lake vs Ocean)
no legs, immediate tail instead
smaller ear & nose openings [as to avoid too much water rushing in. It’s not like they’d drown? But like gotta filter how much water goes into them :3]
[also Desert Floserds have bigger ears as to help cool them off]
