Where every movement she cared to make was calculated and graceful, as far communication went, it was like twisting an ankle mid pirouette; messy, painful, but the shame of it all was much worse. The feeling could be very well applied here, as her hand that reached for the berries was intercepted by another. And if that wasn’t enough, the shrinking violet had made eye contact with this person. The horror of it all crashed down upon her all at once, and she could only hope that with these words it would all be over. Her hands were drawn toward her chest and pale brown hues quickly averted themselves as she shook her head firmly.
"I-It’s fine." She breathed out, "You can…have them. I-If anything it’s better f-for me if you took them, you know. I’m—" Quickly now, think. "—Allergic. To berries anyway…a guilty pleasure…I’m afraid." A white lie. But it secured her alibi, she thought. Anything to get this person to just take the berries without incident.
People were kind which was both a blessing and a curse — situations such as these always landed her paired with an individual more earnest than she and insistent too. So kind and concerned for the young woman who stammered and had long pauses in between her murmured words, asking if she was feeling well due to the way her skin caught fire and she broke into a sweat. People were kind, she appreciated the sentiments of those people, but at the same time she really didn’t.
"…I’m fine, really. Take them…I insist."
Confusion spread across features at her response. To be allergic yet still pursue, he thought, was weird, as was the majority of her reply. Not that Asato was really helping, instead did he stand there without so much as moving an inch. He was expecting her to just take them, after all, he was offering, and wasn't that the polite thing to do? He'd linger on with these feelings further, wondering whether to listen to her and take the berries himself, or keep up the polite act and offer her them. Her tone of voice was enough to have Asato conflicted over the two choices. If she insists... He proceeds to picking them up again, though whilst it may look like he'd take them without another word, instead does he pause with his hand hovering in front of him before quickly grabbing her arm, not the best way to perform an act of kindness, though despite how much it may look like and offense, he was merely wanting to give her the berries, he had no other intentions than to do that. Half the amount of berries would then drop from his hand to the palm of hers as he held her arm in place, his grip unintentionally strong, acting more like a gentle shield than anything else. "...But you wanted them. Here." He looked down at the palm of her hands where the berries rested, forgetting to release her grip until a few more moments were to pass. He quickly let go then, adverting his gaze.
"...Sorry.."
