Disappointment [ Memory 01 : O P E N ]
"This much is enough, Akagi…"
Miraculous win. That’s how many of those who were present would s describe it. Throughout the match, almost until the last round it seemed like Akagi was losing but the one single tile changed it all. Akagi won the man he had been hoping to be a monster with ease.
Yes, they said it was a miraculous win but Akagi knew better than that. There had been risks, of course, it wasn’t worth if it was otherwise.
Ichikawa - old blind man that he had been facing was a mere husk of himself. He had lost most of his fortune, it was no wonder. Akagi had a feeling it wasn’t the first time he had seen a human in that kind of state. They said he couldn’t play another match anymore.
The two adults with him… Akagi only knew their names - Nangou and Yasuoka. Other than it seemed Akagi’s memory betrayed him. They were counting the money the game had earned them. It was no small sum either, anyone would be overjoyed, wouldn’t they?
And yet Akagi gave smile no smile, his appearance was finally that of a 13 year old. Like a child that had lost his favourite toy.
The sunlight that cast through the leaves tickled the boy’s eyelids just enough to force them open. Akagi thought he had been dreaming but the feeling that lingered was different, more real than that. How odd...
His bed turned out to be a thick tree branch belonging to a large old, oak. Akagi would have stayed on his place but the odd scene still remained in his head parching his throat.
The oak stood in the middle of thick, green meadow so the shoes made no sound upon touching the ground. There were no flowers, only tall grass until the path at the end of his sight. Perhaps if his mood had been different Akagi could have enjoyed the scenery but now the boy waded through the grass without giving it much thought.
With his eyes on the ground the boy missed the person walking on the path. The collision was soft but it took a while for Akagi to raise his sight to the stranger.
Flat tone, his attention still remained elsewhere. When he woke up from this momentary trance Akagi it still took another while to pick words before speaking:
"Water…. Do you have any?"
The look in his eyes from the memory still lingered on the boy’s face.
