[So I have some bad news. I’ve been thinking about it for a while and I have decided to drop Sumia as a muse as well. My energy level for RPing has been low for a while and I’ve gotten busier in my life doing other things. I am not sure if this is a forever thing or if I will return to FERP in the future but I feel like my best choice for now is to leave. Hopefully one day we’ll see each other again.

Playing Sumia here has meant so much to me. I have such fond memories of FERP and all that has happened. I’ll miss you all so goshdarn much and I hope you all continue to have fun and enjoy your time here. I wouldn’t have RPed on tumblr at all if it wasn’t for FERP and I wouldn’t have met the great people either. It was an amazing time of my life and even if I don’t come back, FERP will always be something that I’ll cherish.

Open Starter: The Weirdest Part

He smiled a little bit at the other two, and walked over to see if Lovebirds wouldn’t mind him.

“I don’t mind flying very much, and I believe I’ll be able to.” He was getting a little more tired now, and closed his eyes for a few seconds to try and get rid of said tiredness.

“I’ll let you take the lead on this one…..” he tried to think if they had told each other their names, but couldn’t think of when they did. “Huh. I don’t know your name. I’m Roy, although I think I’m a little late on introducing myself.”

Sumia nodded, glad that he didn’t have a problem with flying. It would make traveling easier. They couldn’t stay here, but nce they were in the air, it wouldn’t take long to find their way back to a town or the barracks or just anywhere else. Sumia wasn’t sure how Roy was feeling right now. She had stumbled upon him by accident, so whatever happened before that, she wasn’t around for.

Lovebirds didn’t seem to mind his presence, seeming to understand that Sumia trusted him.

“Oh. Yes it seemed that we don’t know each other’s name yet. I am Sumia. It’s a pleasure Roy. Do you need help mounting Lovebirds?”

Delthea blinked for a moment, but eventually dismissed Sumia’s automatic reply. “A-Ah, alright. At least you’re okay!”

She looked ahead, past the trees. The path was looking more and more familiar by the second, and she was certain that the orange trees would be appearing soon. “Nope! It should just be around here. Maybe in a few minutes or so?

“It won’t be as charming as you’d think, really.” A glance back. “Personally, the only good thing about my village are the oranges. They’re really, really sweet! Sort of like the chocolate - you could probably take some for Archanea or something. Other than that, it really, really is nothing.”

Sumia hated tripping in front of new people. She was used to experience and she knew that back home, people would be concerned but also knew it was just who she was. She was horrendously clumsy. With new people they always got really worried and she didn’t want that. She felt embarrassed as well.

“It happens a lot. I think I was born with two left feet or something,” she joked lightly and a tad bit awkwardly. She was glad that they were getting close. She was excited to see what the place looked like despite Delthea’s earlier claims it was not really much.

“Oh oranges? I’d be happy to take some back with me. If they are as sweet as you say they are, they’d probably work well in a recipe. If I make something, I could bring some back for you.” Sumia smiled. “Even so, it is your home. I look forward to it.”

“I do, in fact. Most times I find it more intriguing to read about foreign kingdoms than to read about the history of my own.” It was also more beneficial during war, but he hated the idea of bringing the subject back to that.

To him it seemed obvious that there would be more than two kingdoms on the same continent, but he reminded himself that she was from a different world. It was very possible that the world she was from had a much smaller number of nations. “Yes. There are nine kingdoms in total. Nohr and Hoshido are the strongest two out of them all.”

The world that Leo, and the others she had met, lived in quite a large world. She wondered how it compared to Ylisse and the other kingdoms in her own. Was it larger somehow or more tightly packed? Sumia found she wanted to know more.

“I can imagine. The world I come from has a rich history but not all of it belongs to my own Halidom. It’s wonderful to learn about other places.” She paused, turning a bit shy. “Could I see a map of your world? To see where the other kingdoms might be?”

Worried Sentence Starters

Robyn and Sumia somehow found themselves separated from the rest of the Shepherds during their march, and now they were lost in the woods. Sumia had her Pegasus, but she was bound to get hurt if they had her fly through the trees. The Tactician attempted to remain calm as she mulled over a solution, but her pacing back and forth caused worry to rise from her gut. Her throat felt dry, but she couldn’t have Sumia see her worry– it’ll only make the situation worse. Though, it was the Knight’s fear that drove Robyn to snap her out of her own.

“Sumia, you’re an irreplaceable part of the Shepherds, I’m sure Chrom and the others will notice and send a search party. We just need to get out of here and try to remember where we lost them, and go from there.”

Sumia had no idea how they managed to get lost like this. It would have been worse had she been alone, but at least she was with Robyn. Even so, Sumia couldn’t help the worry that bubbled up in her chest. They had been focused on the march. What if no one noticed they were gone until they were too far away from them?

Sumia petted Lovebird’s neck, both to calm herself and her pegasus. Robyn was smart and she was important too. Certainly they’d notice she was gone.

“Yes. I am sure they’ll be looking for you as well. I don’t know if the Shepherds can do much without you. Which way should we head first?”

She blinked; she wasn’t sure as to why anyone would want to see a Valentian village. Especially her village, but since Sumia was… special in her own way, this request didn’t seem as odd as it should have been.

“Alright,” she said, shrugging. “But it’s probably booooring compared to Archanea. Actually, it’s awful. There isn’t anything to see but trees!” 

Either way, she began to walk towards her own village, occasionally glancing back to ensure that Sumia was following. Because of the odd location of her village, it was rather difficult to navigate, after all.

Sumia was interested anyways. She really hadn’t seen much of Valentia that getting a chance to see just one place, as boring as it might be to Delthea, would be a new experience. She’d have to visit Valm sometime too, to see the differences between the past and the present.

“Don’t worry. I’m sure it’s quite charming in it’s own way.” Trees were fine too. Although as they walked, she could start to see what Delthea meant. She followed her unsure if she stopped if she’d get lost. An almost stumble had her reeling for a moment, but she steady herself.

“I’m okay,” she quickly said, a habit more than anything. “Is it far?”

“I see.” Her answer was almost disappointing. Novels weren’t normally something he took much interest in, not to say he never read them, and he would have little common ground with her if they began discussing different books they’ve read.

“I normally enjoy reading books about history, war, and strategy. I find them fascinating and love learning from them. Fiction is welcome every now and again, as well, but I have found few that captured my interest long enough for me to finish.”

“You like stories then that are based in reality?” Sumia enjoyed reading but she couldn’t say that she enjoyed reading about strategies. That felt something more in Robin’s wheelhouse than her own, but she did enjoy learning about history and she hoped that that would enable them to discuss further.

“Perhaps I could see if there is one I own that you may enjoy. If I find something I will let you know. Do you read books on the histories and strategies of the other places around here? I know about Hoshido, but are there any other places outside of Nohr and there?”

Open Starter: The Weirdest Part

“I will.” He ran after her, keeping an eye out for a pegasus while he ran. After almost tripping over more than a few tree roots, he focused on going ahead until Sumia stopped. His breathing was ragged, and he took a minute or two to catch his breath before responding. 

“I’m fine, for the most part. More worried than anything.” He did check to see if he was injured, but it was mostly small cuts except for the slightly deeper gash on his arm. He did have a vulnerary with him, and he used it on his arm. 

“Is that the pegasus you were looking for?” He had only just spotted it when it came to where they were, albeit a few feet away. He waited for the confirmation that it was, in fact Lovebirds.

Sumia nearly tripped over her own feet, looking from Roy to where he had spotted the pegasus. She did stumble this time as she moved forward, eyes bright and smiling. Lovebirds whinnied at her, clearly unhappy with being separated from the young woman, but she brushed her fingers over Lovebird’s coat, soothing her.

“Yes. Oh Naga. I am so happy you’re safe Lovebirds.” She was going to be careful that they didn’t get separated again. She motioned for Roy to come over closer, giving him a small smile. “I am glad you’re okay as well. With Lovebirds we can fly out of here. If you’re able.”

Some people didn’t like flying and others just coudn’t handle the experience well, but it looked like Lovebirds wasn’t hurt. So they’d be able to fly and get out of here.

“You lack an appropriate sense of occasion, Sumia. This is a 25th Anniversary edition copy of Black Beauty. We need to savour this moment to appropriately begin our cinematic experience.”

Seth smiled softly at Sumia’s admission. “The movie contains such a wide range of human cruelty as well as kindness, it’s not so unusual to be swept up in its wake.” He pauses to reflect on the poignant scene. “To think, after such a painful separation and such sorrow and suffering on Beauty’s part, to be able to reunite with a dear friend in the end…that’s what makes the story memorable.” Seth himself had even cried the first few times he watched it, though that was something which had faded away as he aged.

“Shall I begin the film, then?”

Sumia nodded fervently. She adjusted herself once more, getting properly comfortable as the movie started. It might have been years since she last watched it, but the memories of all the times she’d rewatch it as a child flooded back to her as it went on. 

It wasn’t too difficult to get absorbed into the movie, laughing or gasping at different parts. Worried as tensions build, despite knowing what would happen. It was great watching it with Seth too, being able to point out things or make a comment. Watching a movie with someone who also loved it was a pleasant experience.

She didn’t sob this time, but by the ending, Sumia was definitely teary-eyed, wiping away a few stray ones that managed to fall. “Wow. It still is just as amazing as I remember.”

The suspicion didn’t fully go away; some of it continued to linger behind as she looked up at Sumia. She didn’t really understand why Sumia took back everything she had said. Could it have been because she was just joking around? Maybe she wanted to trick Delthea into believing a wild story?

Either way, she shoved the thoughts to the back of her mind, deciding to ponder them later on. “Valentia is amazing! Or, at least some parts of it. The northern part - the past Rigel - is quite cold.

“I’m from around here. I was actually born from there.” She pointed at a cluster of trees, obscuring her village. “Just came here to visit. What are you here for though?”

“I am here for a similar reason. I don’t know much about Valentia, but I hope to explore the kingdom and see what it is like for myself.” Sumia couldn’t say she had any specific plans at this moment. She always took an interest in the worlds she found herself in and Valentia was special. It was apart of her past.

Here would be a good place to start. Delthea might not believe her and she hoped that it hadn’t made the girl distrust her. 

“Would you show me around your village? I’d love to see it for myself.”

Seth nodded intently. “There are parts of that movie that are ingrained in my very soul, Sumia. Though I will agree, it has been sometime since I last viewed it, and it will be nice to refresh my memory of the whole story once more.” He had been eight the first time he watched it, and for the next couple months that was all he wanted to play. He was never any of the human cast when they played, he was always Beauty, with Len as Joe. Abi had joked that he should be Red Beauty instead because of the flaming red locks that ran in their family, Mother had said it didn’t really matter. “What was your favourite part?” 

Sumia had remembered how entranced the movie had her. She had watched it all the first time so quietly. Her mother told her she had stars in her eyes at the sight of Beauty. She was always an animal lover, but the movie did help kick off her love of horses. It was a part of her childhood she’d never forget even if memories of it all sometimes fade. “Yes. It’ll be wonderful to get to experience it again after all of this time.”

Sumia thinks about it. “I liked it when John, Joe, and the squire treat and nurse Beauty after he gets sick. The ending always makes me cry as well. I am sorry if it still does.” It was touching and bittersweet. Sumia remembered bawling as a child. She’d hope it wouldn’t be as bad now.

Sumia knows it can be difficult to trust strangers in a fight. She hadn’t expected to stumble into one herself, but once she was in the thick of it, Sumia wasn’t just going to run. 

She could see the man not looking his best. He seemed to be doing well, but the bandits must have caught him off-guard. His horse had run off as well, hopefully safe, but that left him without a mount. Sumia figured that this was intended and that their enemies had planned to separate him from his horse. 

She did not want to judge someone else’s skills, but she wasn’t sure if he could fight as well on the ground and well, it might be best to just go and leave for now. Find his horse and come back with others. So she flew down towards Seth, extending a hand to help him get on Lovebirds with her. 

“Do you trust me?”

Sumia had a knack for scents. Well, she had a knack for flowery scents. She spent so much time around the wildflowers that bloomed in the fields, but she also gathered ones that could be bought. The shades and vibrancy were only half of the appeal, the wonderful scents were the other. While Sumia did use the flowers for her fortune-telling, she also admired them too. 

So when she caught a whiff of lilacs as Robyn passed her by, she couldn’t help but close her eyes for a moment and smile. “You smell good,” she told the woman without even thinking about it and then went pink in the face. “Did you just, ah, take a bath?”

Sumia isn’t sure what to do. She wants to help him, even though he is a stranger to her. There is something about the way his voice broke as he spoke to himself. She shouldn’t haven’t even approached him. It was wrong of her to intrude upon a private moment, but he sounded upset. 

He didn’t seem angry with her and after an awkward moment of introducing themselves, Sumia reached out towards him. She felt like he was still troubled and if she could give him some sort of comfort or reassurance, she would try.

“You’re yourself, and that’s enough.” Perhaps he wouldn’t believe the word of a stranger since she didn’t know him at all, but she hoped he would. “I understand feeling like you need to be someone else to make others happy and I don’t know what you’ve been through, but I hope you’ll believe me. You seem pretty wonderful so far.”

“Unfortunately, it does.” That was what happened when a kingdom was founded almost entirely on what most would describe as a barren wasteland that never got to see the sun. War became the only solution to gain the resources they needed. For now, he would just leave it at that.

“Of course. If you have anything that details the most important parts of Ylissian history, I believe that would be a good start.” He could normally speak for hours about just history and books, if time allowed it, but the longer the two spoke the more he began to wonder. “Excuse the sudden change of topic, but I’m curious… what sort of books do you normally read?”

That was sad to hear. It was always terrible when a place was plagued with wars. Sumia didn’t know enough about Nohr to really pass judgment on it either. Whether they were the ones starting all of them, or if it was more complicated. Leo seemed friendly, though, so Sumia was willing to figure it out as she went. “I hope you are in peacetime now.”

Sumia nodded, excitement coming back to her demeanor. There were so many things that came to mind. When Ylisse was still Archanea or any of the other events in it’s history. She could find something worth Leo’s time, Sumia was sure of it. “I know a book that details many of the important events of our Halidom. I’ll bring it with me next time.”

Sumia paused for a moment. “I’ll read almost anything, but I do love a good epic novel. I enjoy romance as well. Not just history, but stories of events I thought I could only imagine happening. What about you?”
