Brown, dead leaves. Quiet, misty roads. Corn fields as far as the eye can see. Dusty buildings, and cracked, dirt paths, and murky, deep water. People come and go, but no one ever leaves Cinderridge, a small town surrounded by bleak farmland and dying, looming forests, for good. Something always draws you back. The warm, flickering streetlamps, and decaying church always linger in the back of your mind, drawing you back, or urging you to stay.
Mysterious disappearances that can’t be explained. Ghosts apparitions seen in the dead of night. Dozens and dozens of crows dropping dead in a field. Too many bodies found in Lake Dread. Events like these have recently become a common occurrence, but the citizens of Cinderridge simply sweep them under the rug. If you can’t see it, it can’t see you. If you ignore a problem, it will simply go away. That’s the mentality of the people here. But you can’t forget about lost lives. You can’t forget the faces of the missing, the dead, the forgotten. You can’t sweep ghosts under the rug.
But the sins this town have committed are nothing compared to the horrors lying just under their noses, waiting to be uncovered…
𝘾𝙄𝙉𝘿𝙀𝙍𝙍𝙄𝘿𝙂𝙀 is a southern/midwestern gothic horror roleplay, set in the small town of Cinderridge in 1979. We have 3.2.3 rating, and are open to members 18+. In old-school terms, we would be considered an intermediate to primarily advanced writing community, or “semi-literate”. We welcome roleplayers of any skill level, and love group scenes and character driven plots full of mystery, suspense, and dread.

NEW DARK ACADEMIA TV SHOW IN DEVELOPMENT
Do you like Dark Academia? Do you like horror? Do you like Dead Poets Society, Stranger Things, Haunting of Hill House, Saint Maud, or If We Were Villains? Then you’ll love PINEWOOD.
PINEWOOD is a new dark academia tv show/web series currently in development. It is being written and developped by up and coming British creators, most of whom are LGBTQA+, and focuses heavily on sexuality, mental health, and the struggles of neurodivergency in academia. We’re working on a proof of concept (a short film used to sell your show to networks), and we have a crowdfunding campaign going to raise funds for costumes, equiptment, etc. You can find that crowdfunder here.
But for now, here’s some more about Pinewood.

Composers and artists!!!
Last year, I wrote a pitch for a potential route Disney could go in if they were to ever make a gay princess movie. You can read that here! I’ve been revisting the concept, and I would love to work with a composer to potentially bring this story to life! Are there any songwriters, script writers, or artists out there who would be interested in collabing on a few songs or some storyboarded scenes?
I’d love to hear from you if you do! Shoot me an ask! I’d love to make this a big collaborative project between a bunch of cool creatives.
August 21st is Fanfic Writer’s Appreciation Day 💕
Let’s be honest - we all forget to leave a comment sometimes. We don’t always go out of our way to click the “come talk to me on tumblr” link on AO3 to scream about the fic in the author’s inbox. On August 21st I encourage you to take a moment and show fanfic writers that you appreciate them!
How can you do it?
leave a comment and kudos on every fic you finish reading. Doesn’t matter how short. Doesn’t matter if you’re just repeating what other people have already said. Just be kind! Keysmashing, Caps Lock, and live commenting appreciated! (Bonus points if you leave a comment on every chapter)
ideas for what to put in a comment: one | two
floaty review box for ao3 (super useful for commenting as you read + it has a ‘review tips’ button if you feel stuck)
reblog ficlets, drabbles, fics, fic rec posts, etc. Put a nice comment in the tags. Remember that likes, while appreciated, don’t give the writer any exposure, meaning the posts don’t reach more people
go to your local fanfic writer’s inbox and talk to them about their fic of your choice. Let them know how long ago you’ve read it and what story point/sentence/scene still makes you smile when you think about it
send thank you messages to fic writers. In a world where you have to pay for almost everything, they’re supplying you with countless hours of free entertainment. It can get quite lonely without getting messages acknowledging the hours they spend writing stories - let them know their time and effort is appreciated
make fic rec posts and @ the authors whose fics you’re recommending! (believe me, fic writers love to see their stories in these posts)
create something inspired by a fic! You can draw fanart, make a moodboard or aesthetic post, or even write a song for the fic you love. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro doesn’t matter - the thought alone is what counts more than anything <3
buy the writer a coffee if they have a ko-fi page and you have some change lying around c: Caffeine keeps most fic writers awake when they struggle with a particularly slow draft or a difficult scene. More coffee, more content.
These are only some ideas out of the sea of possible ways to appreciate fanfic writers. On August 21st show the writers in your fandom(s) some love <3
Oh hey it’s already that time of the year!!! Spread the word and signal boost, fellow fanfic fans, so that tomorrow may be a day of delight for your favorite authors <3
Do the thing! Celebrate AO3 winning the Hugo award by giving love to your friendly local fanfic writers!
i don’t think people really get how little feedback fanfic authors actually get? like the effort to reaction ratio is so abysmally skewed here that a fic nearly 50,000 words long takes an entire year to amass like. 16 comments. someone reblogged a fic i wrote at 4 am and tagged it with a 5-word compliment and i can’t stop thinking about it, not because it was so nice but because half the time you post a fic you’re going to hear nothing and anything feels like so much
fandom culture is so, so good about giving artists the credit they’re due, but we gotta start doing that for writers too. you’ve got no idea how much people put into their stories and get maybe a handful of reblogs and a dozen-odd kudos. that’s not enough. writing is an endurance sport and y’all need to start giving fic writers a reason to endure it and improve their craft. encourage writers like you encourage artists. reblog fics, leave tags, leave comments, acknowledge that these stories do not just spring into being for your entertainment.
every single damn writer i know feels like half of their readers see them as a machine. that’s gotta change.
Consider also: Writers do not even have the opportunity for feedback until we are finished.
Artists have the ability to show off preview sketches, host art streams, and get feedback during almost every step of their creative process, and we do not. We can’t really share outlines and half-finished sentences, choppy first-drafts, and have anyone get excited about that. When we say it’s an endurance sport, we really mean it.
That’s why it becomes that much more important to give us that feedback once we actually finish what we’ve been working on.
“When we say it’s an endurance sport, we really mean it"
THIS.
And of course we write because we love it. We have ideas–BIG HUGE IDEAS–that we want to get out there, just how we see it in our heads, and be able to go back over and over it again, even if no one else cares. Of course we write because we love it.
But we’re human and crave validation. We create these things because We Just Think They’re Neat and want others to agree that the concept or execution or both is also neat and fan about it with us!
It doesn’t even necessarily have to be about WHAT WE HAVE ACTUALLY WRITTEN. Tell us how much you love the concept or the plot device, start going off on tangents in your comments or tags or replies, because HECK YEAH WE’RE IN THE SAME BOAT. WE’LL JOIN IN WITH YOU.
Fic is MEANT to generate discussion. So don’t think of comments as just saying ‘thank you’. We’re happy for that of course, but that’s not why we wrote it. We wrote it because it’s a thing we’re really interested in, so if you’re interested in it too? SHARE SIS, WE ARE ALL EARS.
An LGBT Disney Movie Concept
I’ve been thinking on this idea for a while, trying to find a balance between making it faithful and LGBT while also appeasing the more conservative audience Disney might draw. It was also created off the top of my head as I wrote it, so it might not make any sense whatsoever.
It would be an adaptation of The Prince and the Pauper, in the traditional Disney Princess musical movie style. And it’s probably not what you think it’d be.

As fun as the “we’re all Hugo nominees now” posts are, let us not forget that this nomination recognizes the founders and approximately 700 volunteers who work tirelessly to make Ao3 everything that it is. The folx doing the hard work of maintaining and running the site so we can all have a place to share and enjoy fic–that’s who’s nominated for a Hugo, and let’s not forget them.
