The air is colder and colder still but the sun in the morning is sharp. It is a gentle implacable bright that erases any lingering, languishing fog. Inside this some rusted gate in my brain swings wide open.

Flesh roses travel on

First piece completed here on Yorta Yorta country in the golburn valley- i started off thinking about flesh, my own to be specific. Here, and every town nearby has a lush rose garden open to the public. There is something about this I'm thinking about - about how roses only have thorns because we created them, about flat farmland seen through a car's window, about my own squeaking and inscrutable body moving betwixt, the untangling of memory and the passage of time.
