I’ve decided to give my Junkrat cigarette burns in the shape of a $ in the middle of his back, to mark him as a valued thing, a souvenir from one torture session to get the Omnic treasure secret out of him by thugs.
Nobody’s aware it exists because he wears his RIP-tire all the time, or otherwise covered up. It’s a sensitive topic and he’s not proud of it.

LATER YEARS - THE SECRET A few years passed – then he had brought a different kind of attention to his reputation, more than a junker obsessed with pyrotechnics.
It was a week after it became known that he had discovered a priceless secret, hidden deep in the Omnic ruins. Kidnapped by a gang of rival, envious junkers, Junkrat had been held captive & subjected to interrogation torture to get the secret in a garage; kept restrained in the back of a ute.
Over a week he was faced with abuse, public use rapes, and beatings. Bondage, body writing humiliation were also focused torture methods. It ended with a dollar-sign symbol branded into the middle of his back with cigarette burns: a permanent sign to mark him as valued property harbouring a secret, recognisable to all.
The brand is concealed under the RIP-tire harness, and diminished with the layer of soot that plasters his skin. As a result of that first-and-last incident, Junkrat’s subsequent Rape Trauma Syndrome developed PTSD concerning mainly sexual intimacy, restraints, showers, and doffing both prosthesis.

Three days after his release, he escaped the settlement by hiding as a stowaway on a junker courier’s water-tank rig: which ended up being noneother than “Roadhog”, aka Mako Rutledge.
Regarding the Omnic Treasure; one theory Junkrat has hinted is that the war was set up by the government, as a grand scheme to destroy the facility’s secret through a means (the war) that did not reveal it. This way, the Secret was kept a secret, through obliteration, without drawing attention to it through a deliberate, public execution of a fake cover story to justify closing the facility. Of course, the government had thought their conspiracy worked out: the Secret was gone, the outback wasteland blamed on the ALF, however years later, the junker known as Junkrat had discovered it. The bounty hunters after him include agents hired by the powers that be, to ensure the Secret is killed with him. IN PROGRESS; the two form an unexpected alliance, captor-and-captive, before it transformed into a relationship of another mind once they had secured trust and understanding with each other.
