Hello! This blog hasn’t been active in a while, I apologize. I think you are referring to this post? I used to share ownership of this blog with another blogger here, and I believe she is the one who posted this, so honestly I’m not sure where the photos are from. I can try to find them again elsewhere though. If I find anything, I’ll post them here for you! You can also ask @thoths-monocle, the former co-owner of this blog! She might remember. Good luck!

Pastel painting of Sergeant R G Arding, 1941, Great Britain.

Arding was a member of 82 Squadron stationed at Bodney, Norfolk in 1940. The artist painted him while he was reporting to the Intelligence Officer, before his flying kit had been removed.

Second Lieutenant Nils Trontti (1921-1966), 7 aerial victories. Served in No. 26 Squadron (LeLv 26) of Finnish Air Force in 1942-1944, scoring six kills with Fiat G.50 and one kill with Brewster B-239. He was promoted to First Lieutenant in 1943. On June 26, 1944, day after he was moved to LeLv 34 (Bf 109 squadron), he was shot down and became POW. During the war Trontti flew 150 sorties, and earned himself Cross of Liberty 4th class with Swords, and with Oak Leaves.

Jaakko Hillo (born 1921) served in No. 32 Squadron (LeLv 32) of Finnish Air Force in 1941-1944 and flew 220 sorties in Curtiss Hawk 75, scoring 7 individual kills (3 x I-153, I-16, MiG-3, La-5, U-2) and 2 shared ones (2 x Il-2). He resigned from the air force in 1946 and worked as airliner captain in Finnair until his retirement in 1973.

Today, I was totally awesome. Also I looked smoking hot. Went flying. Came back. Three sacks of fanmail arrived. Had sex with someone on top of them.’

Today I was a total badass. I think someone’s been tampering with my uniform, it’s been very tight around the package since it got back from cleaning… Anyway, went flying. Shot down all the enemy planes I saw. (Edit; two planes, sir). Came back, had a spot of tea and a bit of crumpet, then toddled downtown for a bit of crumpet.’
