A highly dreadful weekend full of long flights was my first thought when booking my commuting flight to Oakland, California this past Thursday. Working 4 days straight and barely being home was far from what I was looking forward to, but God had other plans for me. I had the absolute BEST time on my 4-day trip through to cities.
Traveling to Oakland, San Diego and Spokane for my overnights was a fantastic experience. So here’s what happened…walking though the airport to my gate and waiting to board I ran into one of my crewmembers Alexis. Ahhhhh I miss her already! She was a super sweet girl and fun to hangout with. I knew then she was going to be my turn up buddy for my birthday since I wasn’t home. As soon as I told Alexis it was my birthday weekend she was like “aww girl we are definitely going out! I’m looking up clubs now!” I was toooooo excited for San Diego.
On this flight, I met the Vice President of Twinkies and you all know the first question I asked him was did he bring any Twinkies? Lmao. He didn’t bring any by the way… But he was a friendly guy. I also had the pleasure of meeting the first female pilot I have seen here at SouthWest Airlines. Her name was Holly Nagie. She has worked with SWA since 1990. Holly decided to leave and raise 4 children and has been back at SWA for 6 years now. She has also taken the time to instructor fellow pilots on her piloting skills.
After landing and arriving at the hotel, we checked in and went upstairs to get dressed. The view from my room was simply beautiful. I could see the entire city. Finally getting ready to heaout, I realized I didn’t bring anything super cute to wear because I didn’t expect to do anything. (Note to self: ALWAYS bring a sexy dress and heels, ALWAYS!) Anyways we got dressed and headed downtown. San Diego was LIT! People were everywhere. Comic-Con was this past weekend too so everyone was walking around downtown San Diego in Minion, Star Wars and the Avengers costumes. It was so much going on.
We went to a restaurant called “Brian’s”… It’s a 24/7 spot serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you are ever in the area please try their chicken and waffles. It was to die for. After eating we were ready for the turn up. We went to this club called “” and it was decent but it was playing way to much local music lol. So we left and went to another club. Can’t remember the name but it was turnt! They were playing everything. “Watch me whip, watch me nae nae!” We were in there having waaaayyy too much fun lol.
All the clubs closed at the same time so y'all know how EVERYBODY is outside after the club trying to find somebody to go home with. So while we waited on our uber I met about four people from Chicago. One knew I was from the Chi because of my shoes. His exact words were, “I knew you were from Chicago, they don’t wear those shoes out here.” That was sooo funny to me! How the hell do you spot somebody out from a city by his or her shoes?… The other three guys knew I was from Chicago because of my accent that I was unaware I had. San Diego is a beautiful place and I will be back!
Our next stop was Spokane, Washington. Hearing the name I was unimpressed. I was thinking something small and boring. Luckily, I was wrong. I was completely blown away by the beautiful scenery. Our hotel was near The Centennial Trail and Riverfront Park. This place is perfect for a leisurely walk or a relaxing bike ride. We had the view of a waterfall, which was so peaceful. It was also near an amusement park and a shopping center.
Spokane felt like the perfect place to raise a family. I was so sad to leave. The night we checked into the hotel it was too late to go downtown so my friend and I went to the Jacuzzi and to the restaurant in the hotel and I tried the Apple Smoked Burger. It was delicious! I have never had a burger with smoked apple. It was to die for! After enjoying my burger the waitress bought ice cream to the table for my birthday as a surprise. It so thoughtful of her! I really enjoyed celebrating my 22nd birthday in Spokane, Washington.
After our enjoyment of Spokane was over, it was time to head to the airport for our very last trip home. On this flight, I ran into the funny and very handsome Flex Alexander. I was so nervous to take a picture with him because I did not know how exactly to approach him, but when I finally asked for a picture he was super sweet about it and did not mind at all even though it was super late at night. It was a pleasure meeting him.
I was so excited to finally get home to Chicago and celebrate my birthday with family. My mom set up a surprise birthday party with all of my family present. I could not have been more excited to see them! We laughed, danced and really enjoyed each other’s company like always. I was so happy to be home.
Whelp… that was my trip to San Diego and Spokane, Washington.
Next stop San Antonio, Orlando and LA!
