I could get so good at not caring if I wanted to.
One Learns A Lot When Studying in Martin on Saturday at 1am
The halls of Glenn L. Martin are packed with hyperactive engineering students during normal operating class hours.
On weekend nights however, the masses are gone and reveal all the flyers, articles, and achievements professors hang outside of their offices.
One has epiphanies perusing these articles on the walk back from the bathroom to the CE lab.

Year 3: An Intro
Junior year has been so busy/not busy that I havenāt had time to write in a while.
Currently, it is a Sunday night and I am watching Steven Universe mildly intoxicated while A & R are happy in the living room (after spending 12 hours together). Itās been an interesting day in the apartment.
Speaking of the apartment, it is the biggest change so far this year. The personal bedroom. Maintaining clean bathroom with M. The hellish mess of the kitchen. All of Aās friends. Making my own food. Eating meals alone. The amazing view of PF field. Apartment life has its benefits and drawbacks, but living in SC5 is a nice, slow transition from dorm to adult life :/
Also, itās junior year. Iām over halfway through college....... HOLY FUCK. O_O Diving into my second semester in the Clark school (chyeah!) Iāve been taking full advantage of its perks, namely the fall picnic, networking emails, free events, ASCE meetings, & access to Martin Hall off-hours.
Iām also trying to work EXTRA HELLA HARD. Between fluids & numerical methods, itās definitely been a challenge. But I love my classes, especially sustainability. Iāve never paid attention more in a class than ENCE 215. Perhaps I can do some research for N. And Iām super excited for Greenbuild!
As for the people/social life, Iāve inevitably made my bi-annual wave of new friends/Asian-boy study partner(s). (IreallyhopehedoesntdevelopfeelingsformeIjustwanttolearnengineering.) Iām getting more involved in VSA. And Iām now a part of Spoon U! Iāve never felt more excited!
And post-Scholars. Old C5 is just four floors down. They are invaluable. Old C3 is a five minute walk. And Iām secretly grateful S keeps me connected with old C7.
And J. Things are inevitably different. Iām still in love. But it is time he faces reality, or better yet, I face reality. We truly are special friends.
I donāt like it.
I would totally join a sorority
If I didnāt have to commit to friendship

Hozier has been a savior lately
Iām in such a good mood.
Happy Monday! :)
Despite the relatively shitty second semester, Iāve actually had an amazing sophomore year.
This year, I:
- had late night adventures with C3, A, M
- went to the NRAO in Greenbank, WV & saw the stars
- mini-pumpkin carved
- worked as a telemarketer
- got admitted to the engineering school
- nearly made the Deanās List
- went to Sugarloaf Mountain
- went to NYC
- went to Pearl Hacks & Bitcamp
- played intramural soccer
- volunteered at the food collective
- went to two comedy shows
- learned so much at the LOC
- did a research project on urban rail & made a poster
- scored two home runs during charity softball
- got better at Smash
- drank & skated at night (not at the same time of course)
- fell in, out of, and now deeply in love
- met some absolutely amazing people
and much more
I <3 college
Vintage photos of college dorms over the past 110 years.
A century ago, students still slept in single beds, hung family photos on their walls, and chilled with friends in their dorm rooms.
An Aside:
Facebook groups are a terrible medium for forums.Ā
For example, UMDās Job & Internship page is a great resource, but the only way to browse the listing is through infinite scrolling.Ā
Unless the tabs āDiscussionā āEventsā āPhotosā etc are standard and cannot be changed, the pageās creator should create/divide posts into career fields.
Anyway.
This Summer.
Iām going to study abroad, intern for a transportation company, go to a four-day music festival, and get laid LOLLLL.
And so many other adventures.
So excited.
5/1 - 5/3 Weekend. The J Experience.
Friday:
- R: good talks about everything, polymath video script, filming is TBA. Iām excited
- H, V, S, F: diner & the best mac n cheese the diner could dish out
- A & (T): Art Attack. Extremely okay. Hype was slow-going, venue too big, stage too far. Not enough people. Fun nonetheless. Things with A will be forever awkward.
- N & J: fun with agar.io
- J: returning from his morph suit adventures, well-dressed, sleepy, fun & successful forced quad
Saturday (J-Day 1):
- Good morning
- A beautiful beginning on a beautiful day at the diner
- road trip to A-town & Mr. Smith. Amazing amazing amazing beach house. Met Suzanne, Sue, & the man of the hour. He has a history. Tour of the house. Breathtaking
- Beach. Sitting on the rocks. Jumping in the Magothy. Fried food feast. Sub-bathing & relaxing on the bench, talking about goals, dreams, & hackathons. Funny times with Mr. Smith. Heās so white.
- Sunset. bonding with Michael. Dinner with the grown-ups. Learned more about his childhood. Biscotti dipped in coffee
- Some rolling around.
- The Walk. Snapchat. Stephen Hawking. Endless skateboarding to dead-ends, the pier. The top-deck. Talking about relationships and open-mindedness. Breathtaking site for miles. Coconut popsicles. āOne in a billion.ā
- āGiggling and squealing after midnight.ā The Shower.
Sunday (J-Day 2)
- Long good morning. And bed-making.
- Fancy breakfast overlooking water. More coffee & biscotti.
- Drive back to H-ville. AFV & naptime.
- Ended with gym & talked about madness at the diner with the boy I love.
I canāt believe I love him
April 30, 2015
Itās one of those days where I absolutely love college.
The past few days (or two weeks), the downs of college have been relentless. Along with the spring allergies. Multiple weeknights staying up until 3-4am. Three papers. Two exams. Projects. Speeches. Yo.
After journalism today, R & I spoke about his YouTube series. Iām excited. He has a lot of passion for videos & I really want to be a better communicator.
Startup Shell was AMAZING. Picture a successful hack, five years later. Itās amazing that all those kids were UMD students. Granted, their start-ups have a few kinks (most noticably their start-up pitches.) But nonetheless, those kids are truly doing what they love. And theyāre doing a great job.
I donāt want to work in a civil firm under a bunch of old white men doing CADD all day. I want to be involved or start a civil-related start-up.
But I havenāt found that ground-breaking idea yet.
Anyway, tonight is a good night to Tumblr/drink beer/Revenge/hipster music before an eventful weekend.
And itās only 12:03am.
I wish I could emotionally fix boys without having them fall in love with me.

Weekend post-Bitcamp
Fun, semi-productive Friday. Did a lot of catching up with S. Imh.
Pursuit of Happyness with M.
J. He runs all the way from Cville to the Mall to see me, despite having lost his keys and being sleepless for over 24 hrs. So we can roll around in the grass on this beautiful day.
