this should be a universal courtesy with all muns. if you follow someone, you NEED TO READ THEIR RULES! maybe they’ll only follow back if you give them a PASSWORD. maybe there’s important INFORMATION on how they play their muse or run their blog. maybe they’re exclusive, or private, or selective. maybe they have rules specially for FOLLOWERS. and reading someone’s rules is especially crucial if you are mutuals with them; you are SHOOTING YOURSELF IN THE FOOT by not doing so, because you may end up breaking a rule and losing a potentially great partnership because of it.
by reading someone’s rules, you’re telling them:
“i respect you enough to see if you have any triggers or concerns.”
“i care enough about you to check out your pages instead of just following.”
“i want to see if we’d be a good fit to roleplay together.”
“you are worth more than the time it takes to click ‘FOLLOW’.”
in contrast, by NOT reading someone’s rules, you’re telling them:
“i don’t care if you have any triggers or concerns.”
“i know you may have read MY rules, but i won’t bother to read yours.”
“i don’t want to roleplay with you that much.”
of course, there are many muns who have very LAID-BACK rules pages. and some muns might not really care if you don’t read their rules. but there are MANY muns who have special requests and put them in their rules pages. MANY muns get invested in their partners, and excited to write with them, and need you to meet them halfway. this starts with reading their rules.

YOU ARE NOT RESPECTING THE MUN.
