Declining Opportunities || Cassandra & Flynn
Focusing her attention on him, a faint smirk curved onto her lips as she watched him enter. “Flynn.” She mused, her eyes scanning his attire, before continuing to speak. “If I must say, you look dashing.” Cassandra teased, patting the space beside her, waiting for him to come and join her.
Turning to face him as he sat beside her, she racked her brain for an excuse slightly more suitable than she didn’t have a date or she just couldn’t be arsed to show up. “I didn’t want to give Clare Kennedy the satisfaction of someone as important as myself showing up.” The brunette responded stubbornly, she considered adding that it wasn’t her scene anyway, but it was her scene, her life had always revolved around pretty dresses and sipping punch.
"Bored? You either had some shit company or the classiness just scared you off?" Quirking an eyebrow, she let out a light laugh, a teasing glint in her eye. Her eyes wandering back to the fire, she couldn’t help but frown as the thought that Flynn even attended the ball settled in. "Well, I’m just a little surprised. Why were you there in the first place instead of entertaining me?" She questioned, only partially serious about the question.
"Knew you'd be glad to see me." Flynn stated plainly, shooting her a grin as he took a seat beside Cass on the rug in front of the roaring fire. They had the entire place to themselves. Flynn had to admit, hanging out with Cassandra was a much better alternative then spending the evening in stiff dress robes with a bunch of people, the majority of whom he disliked. "I know. I always do. You're not so bad yourself, even if you aren't dressed up."
He shot her a wink, "She doesn't deserve it.. not your company anyway." Flynn leaned back, resting his weight on the palms of his hands. He could guess that Cass' ego may be in need of a little fluffing, as was his own at times. "To be honest, you didn't miss much. Besides, I am sure that you will soon find that my presence is much more entertaining then any old ball."
At Cass' teasing, Flynn laughed lightly, giving her a gentle nudge before turning to look at her again, "The company wasn't too bad at first, then I lost Val in the crowd and here I am... You know that my life's goal is to keep you entertained." He replied, a grin forming on his lips. "To be honest, I am a little surprised not to find you there either.. but as I mentioned before, you didn't miss much." Flynn assured her, leaning in a little closer to the brunette. "On the bright side, I am now all yours for the evening. Your wish is my command, m'am."
Midnight Musings || Flynn & Valerie
Valerie let herself be pulled back onto Flynn’s lap. “Who are you calling a kid, huh?” With her gaze to him never wavering, she slowly kissed her way from his lips to his right ear, ending the kiss by nibbling the ear. Valerie has always been a bold girl, and she clearly liked it better that way. She’s also pretty sure Flynn liked that attitude of hers, too.
Her heart fluttered a bit when he said he had missed her, but Valerie has always had a hard time voicing out her feelings, so she’s afraid her silence will be misconstrued as rejection of some sorts. “I… uh… I, uhm, missed… you too,” she stammered, her ears turning red due to embarrassment. In an effort to hide her burning face, she buried her head beside Flynn’s neck. “I’m sorry,” she said. “At least I did what you told me to do before. I’m trying.” she looked up at him and smiled. She and Flynn would sometimes have small arguments because of Valerie’s lack of communicating verbally with her feelings, but she has promised since then, and even if they aren’t together anymore, that she will try her best to do that, just for him. Although she and Flynn might have broken up, he is still a very dear friend of hers and she still listens to his advice to her dearly.
"Nah, screw the ball. I’d much rather stay here in the common room, anyway." Valerie joked, trying to light up the atmosphere. "Although I think we should at least make an appearance because it is still required,” she pondered out loud, but shook the notion off for now. She wrapped her arms tightly around Flynn’s neck and sighed with pleasure. “This feels absolutely exquisite.”
"You, Miss Wood, are still younger then me. Therefore, I will always refer to you, as 'kid'. Consider it a term of endearment." Flynn groaned playfully as she nibbled on his ear, ending with a light chuckle. Even though they hadn't been together in a long time, she still had a knack for remembering just where his weak spots were. His hand caressed her thigh gently, his free one playing absently with a loose strand of her hair.
He studied Valerie carefully as she glanced up at him, beginning to stammer that she too, had missed him. Flynn had learnt over time not to take offence to her silence, but instead learn to read her body language. It wasn't always the easiest road, but he was never one to force words from Valerie. She was a private person, and he understood that. Laughing quietly as she buried her face against his neck, Flynn kissed the top of her head. "I know you're trying.. that's all that matters." He offered, trying to lessen her embarrassment a little.
"I'll be happy to make an appearance if you'd like.. although I can't guarantee I will stay. You know how I get at fancy parties like that." As Val joked about wanting to stay in the common room, instead of attending the ball, Flynn slowly trailed soft kisses down along her jawline, playfully nipping at her soft skin as he worked his way down to her neck. "I know." Flynn stated cheekily, a cocky edge to his voice as he hummed against the skin of her neck.
Declining Opportunities || Cassandra & Flynn
Dragging her eyes away from the mirror, she brought them down to the dress resting on her bed, the black satin material and lace contrasting against the emerald of her bed covers. Did she really want to go? To stroll in late with a housemate she hadn’t met until two minutes prior because her arrangements had been canceled? Perhaps not, she wasn’t in too much of a party mood anyway, she would have to say a no to that event. In fact, she was almost pleased to finally have some peace and quiet after the people she had encountered the same day, idiots, to say the least. It was a shame really that such a dress would simply hang in the back of her wardrobe until she needed another clear out, it was rather impressive, if she could say so herself, which she wouldn’t hesitate to do anyway.
Strolling back through to the common room, she sat cross legged before the fire, watching the flames flicker in front of her.. She couldn’t say she was surprised to find it empty, even the Slytherins turned up to Clare Kennedy’s events as much as she wishes the blonde would throw herself from the Astronomy tower, she had to admit, she sure could plan a party. Letting out a sigh, she pursed her lips together, before her eyes wandered the room for a source of some form of entertainment. As much as she enjoyed the silence, it left her to her thoughts and overthinking never ended too well for her. A frown creasing before her eyebrows as she heard footsteps, she turned her head to identify her intruder.
Flynn wandered slowly from the great hall to the Slytherin common room, already bored with the festivities that had been so obnoxiously advertised around the school. As promised, he had helped a friend out by being her 'date' to the party so that she could get in. However, once in the party, it had become very clear that this was not Flynn Bailey's scene. It was much to formal a gathering to pique his interest, and none of the girls he had an eye on of late seemed visible. With that, he had decided to wander back to the common room to see who was around.
Giving the password, he stuffed his hands in his pockets, a little sigh of dismay as seeing the common room almost deserted, apart from a solitary figure over by the fireplace. Grinning as he registered the familiar face that turned to study him, he chuckled. "Zabini." He greeted simply, relieved to see that he was not alone in the common room. Flynn strolled over, taking a seat beside the brunette in from of the fire.
"I was bored the with party.. what is your excuse for being here?" Flynn questioned cheekily, knowing that he could at least count on a little fun while Cassandra was around.
Hogwarts, when did you become so dull?
I do believe that dullness is indeed an aforemention shortcoming, and if you’re dull then you have one.
Yes, it is a shortcoming- but not one of mine.
Midnight Musings || Flynn & Valerie
"I know," Valerie replied sullenly to his remark about Scorpius. "I don’t know, I guess I’m just tired." She sighed in defeat. Juggling her academics with prefect duties and Quidditch practices can be quite a challenge, and Valerie’s not taking it very well.
"Have you heard of the ball?" Valerie asked, rubbing her forehead. "Apparently this Kennedy girl is having this huge masquerade ball for her birthday. Everyone’s required to go, but only if you have a partner to go with. What a load of bollocks." She crossed her arms in an attempt to look pissed off. "Who is this Kennedy person anyway and why do we have to go to her stupid birthday party?"
Flynn chuckled at how begrudgingly she admitted that he was right, "You should know by now babe, I'm always right." He flashed her a cheeky grin, trying to cheer her up a little. School seemed to be stressing everyone out of late, and her extra Quidditch practice couldn't exactly be helping Val's case. Perhaps she just needed to relax a little and take her mind off of things.
"Yeah.. yeah.. i've heard of it." Flynn nodded with a sigh, wondering why all of these Hogwarts events needed to be blown out of proportion like they were. "I don't know, to be honest.. all I know is that it is a royal pain in the ass." He grumbled a little, an amused smile coming to his lips as Val angrily folded her arms across her chest. It was cute. "If you want to go, I can go with you if you'd like to get in? But it's not really a place I want to stay for long.. I was just going to make an appearance and then leave."
"Come here and sit with me for a moment kid.. I missed talking to you while i was away." Seeing how tired she was, Flynn gently attempted to pull Valerie back toward him and his lap so that she would not have to stand up.
What is up with this ball thing?
Yeah, I could see the utter delight evident on your face.
You know me well Wood. Apparently we need dates to get in as well?
Hogwarts, when did you become so dull?
Did you ever stop to think that maybe it’s just you who’s boring, not the school?
I figured that dullness would come under the aforementioned short-comings of which I have none?
What is up with this ball thing?
Why I was only doing community service. You can check something of your bucket list now.
"How ever did you know that it was on my bucket list?" Flynn chuckled, his voice sarcastic.
Hogwarts, when did you become so dull?
lily--amongthorns:
Oh don’t blame the school for your short-comings, Flynny.
What are these shortcomings you speak of Miss Potter? I see none.
Hogwarts, when did you become so dull?
What is up with this ball thing?
I think you meant you wished to be so lucky.
I'm pretty sure you're the one who wants to go with me! Who had the idea to dress in drag?
What is up with this ball thing?
Do you want me to dress in drag and accompany you?
You wish you could be so lucky!
What is up with this ball thing?
Apparently you have to wear a mask?
Do we really have to go, though?
Masks? Really?
C'mon.. it will be fun. It's supposed to be the biggest thing of the year and all that bullshit.
What is up with this ball thing?
Am I gonna have to dress up? And more importantly, how do I decide which lucky lady will have the pleasure of my company for an entire evening?
