“god, when do you think people will stop bringing up goeun unnie? it’s like this news of her settling with bc sparked even more interest in our apparently nonexistent vocal skills.” there was an evident scowl on hyeju’s face as she slouched down onto the couch before turning over to face the other female. 

bomi and hyeju had an odd friendship. they originally weren’t even acquainted with one another until the media started pitting them against one another for their vocals. this industry really loved putting people in similar positions against each other. having only debuted a year apart and both being lead vocalists, she realizes that the comparisons were inevitable, but they were still annoying. 

however, rather than being negatively affected by the forced rivalry, they ended up becoming friends instead, and in hyeju’s case, bomi ended up becoming a shoulder to lean on whenever she wasn’t confident in her vocals. she was thankful for how things turned out, and now she can’t imagine not having bomi in her life.

“I don’t think that’ll ever really stop.. At least not for a very long time. And even then when the whole ordeal is water under the bridge, people are still going to bring it up whenever they mention Lipstick. Her leaving had an affect on your group, there’s no doubt about that. Maybe not a horrible one, but a big one, that’s for sure. It’s not going to be easy to shake that off.” 

While their friendship hadn’t come about in the most conventional of ways, it was a friendship that Bomi held near and dear to her heart, and she cherished it immensely. Who would’ve thought being pitted against one another would have been a catalyst for them becoming such good friends? Bomi wouldn’t have, that was for sure. In fact, she was sure things would have been awkward between them, but they had proven to be anything but that. 

“You really shouldn’t listen to what people have to say about your vocal ability. Trust me, I’ve gone through times where I felt really down and felt as though I couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket, but you know what I realized? I’m standing here and they’re out there. I was accepted because of my singing ability, I was made a lead vocalist because of my singing ability. I obviously can sing. Just like you obviously can sing. And just because your voice doesn’t match Goeun’s doesn’t mean it’s not good.”

Microscopes were not just metal objects found in laboratories. They moved beyond those walls, becoming other items such as the eyes that lay within the skull of each individual that hurried briskly through the streets, of each child and daughter and brother and grandparent.

Eyes, you see, bore into skill far deeper than the scientific device ever could. Yes, it could see particles that the bare eye would not, but it would never be able to capture the sheer amount of emotion that riddled the very bones beneath the taunt flesh that kept the very being together.

He had spoken to his mother once about this, about how the gaze of fellow classmates felt as though it were burning through him. This, of course, worried Malai, wishing and wanting nothing but the best for her son, but parents can only be the puppeteers of their offspring for so long, and by that point all she could do was calm the brewing storms that rumbled in his chest, rattling behind a rib cage of ivory with stories of anger and displaced hatred.

The washing, rushing memories flooded forth once more, his being focusing on the warmth of the woman’s touch, wishing it were someone else’s. Wishing it were Cindy’s.

She always seemed to know what to do when these sorts of moments made themselves present.

“That’s kind of you, thanks,” Charoen found himself answering, words slipping over white teeth and a twisting tongue as it sought to prevent itself from allowing words of disagreement from spilling forth.

Compliments were never easy to take. A double-edged sword.

“I dunno,” the man replied, shrugging as he stared aimlessly at the array of shoes before them, doing his best to avoid eye contact. “Just don’t think it’d be something that would fit me.”

With the model conversation slipping to the wayside, the gears in his head churned towards the next item.

“Boots are usually what I wear,” he added, scratching the back of his neck before lightly rubbing it. “I used to love sneakers as a kid, but not as much anymore.”

“You should reconsider.” Sensing that the conversation was quickly growing stale, Bomi decided that it would be best to end the conversation right then and there instead of running the risk of harsh feelings coming into play. She was now completely switching her focus to the task at hand - finding the proper pair of shoes for her label mate. Shoes could make or break a look. They could turn an amazing outfit into a terrible one, or vice versa. She always put a lot more attention and effort into her shoes than she did the majority of her other articles of clothing, which was saying a lot. 

“Boots? Alright, got it.” She nodded her head as she started looking through the shoes the store had. “I kind of figured you were a boots kind of guy.” She turned around to look at him, her eyes drifting down to his feet. “Now that I think about it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you wear anything other than boots. At award shows and at events.” Although, that was kind of a given. In those kind of situations, they were given fancier things to wear. Articles of clothing that fell more towards the high end side of the fashion spectrum. One couldn’t just wear sneakers to a red carpet event, now could they? 

“Oh, how about these?” She snatched up one of the boots on display, holding it up for him to examine for himself. “Cute, right?” It was a neutral color, one that would go well with the jacket they had picked up just a few moments before. “And the material it’s made out of is nice too. It won’t get worn out or fade easily, although you probably shouldn’t wear these when it’s raining outside. They’re suede, so the water would ruin them.”

Compliments that focused on his appearance had always been… difficult for the young man to take to heart. For many years ( and perhaps still so ) his looks had been a source of negativity by others, something that was poked and prodded at, and all the while he wanted nothing more than to hideaway. If he were not visible, he thought, perhaps the harsh words and sharp comments would divert from him, yet the complete opposite seemed to happen.

He could feel a sudden weight at the front of his skull, as if all of his past contemplation was quickly rushing forth and piling at the very forefront of his being. Behind dark eyes, a small spark fizzled, as if unsure whether to engage and agree or simply shy away despite having already agreed.

Yet the more she spoke, the greater his confidence grew, and a soft smile curled about his lips.

“I never would have pegged myself as being as fashionable as them,” he began, slowly shifting towards the shoes on display, silently following her lead, only to be stopped as she touched his face.

Although he had never been particularly adverse to people placing their hands on him, the sensation was off, for already unsettled gray matter associated it with the young bullies, the ones who tugged at dark hair and jabbed his ‘ unusual ’ facial features.

“I, uh — No. Modeling doesn’t really seem like something I should do,” Charoen answered, but what he really meant is that he doubted he be accepted into that realm, that world where being the ideal image of a Korean was necessary, and that was something he felt he could never be.

“Shoes,” he echoed, her hand still on him for he refused to be the one to remove it, “From the bottom up then.”

Not unlike her peers and the people she associated herself with, Bomi had never given much thought to people who weren’t of pure Korean descent, or even people who weren’t Korean at all. In her parents’ lines of work, she had met plenty of foreigners and didn’t hold anything against them like a few native Koreans did. Beauty was one hundred percent subjective in her eyes, and she knew that a lot of people felt the same way. Although she couldn’t really say that she had been on the harsh receiving end of criticism due to her appearance. Bomi fit Korea’s beauty standards almost to a t, so she couldn’t empathize where Charoen was coming from, but she could sympathize and try to understand him. 

He was a good looking guy, beautiful even, and just because he wasn’t what their society would call ‘perfect’, he had a distinct and special look about him that only added to his physical appearance. “Why wouldn’t you?” She asked, confused by his words. He dressed rather well, a lot better than a lot of the men she had encountered throughout her lifetime. Maybe he didn’t dress in the most expensive clothes, but his style suit his look, which was the only thing that mattered when it came to fashion. 

“I disagree. You’re tall, gorgeous and you have charisma. What else does a model need?” She dropped her hand away from his face, an unspoken question gnawing at her insides. The way that her junior spoke made her consider the fact that maybe, just maybe, he wasn’t confident in his looks. She wanted to ask him about it, but she knew that questions like those were either hit or miss - he could answer honestly, or he could get offended and shut down. They seemed to be having a good time shopping with one another and she didn’t want to run the risk of ruining that. 

She turned to look at the seemingly endless span of shoes, her eyes taking in each pair as she walked through the aisle. “What kind of shoes do you like? Boots, sneakers.. You know?”

Never would he have imagined that “expensive” would have been the word used to describe his fashion sense. While it was true, of course, that now as an idol he was able to indulge in items that he would have previously considered luxury, he still had yet to ever think of himself as one to purchase excessively pricey objects or articles.

This wasn’t, you see, perhaps what Bomi had meant when she expressed the very thoughts that now rolled over and over in his head, but that was the way he had taken them. While he had never been one to let unnecessarily nit-picky things to to his head, he couldn’t help but feel some pressure from the notion of it all.

“You think?” This could have applied to any of the comments posed, yet it was left up to her to determine and decipher which. With a glance between the jacket on her arm and the young woman’s face, a small smile flowed across his own. “Okay. … Shall we build a new outfit around the jacket then? That may be fun.”

Bomi had grown up living the life of luxury. Coming from very successful parents, and her parents being born from wealthy families themselves, it wasn’t difficult for her to see the expensive tastes that other people have. Or how expensive their taste could be if they elevated their standards just a bit. She had met a lot of people throughout the years, quite a few of them having that same “expensive” look that she had dubbed Charoen with. 

Charoen had a very distinct look, something that set him apart from other people, and it wasn’t the fact that he was only half Korean. She’d seen biracial Koreans before several times, and a lot of them didn’t have the same vibe and energy that her dongsaeng had. What made it even better was the fact that he seemed to not even realize what look he gave off in the first place. 

“Oh, definitely. You have a look that I’ve seen so many times in high fashion magazines and on runways.. And you’re tall too, which already makes you desirable by other people.” She reached out to gently grab his chin, tilting his head to the side. “And your side profile is really nice. Have you ever thought about modeling? Really?” She asked, her own smile growing when he finally agreed. “We shall! It’ll be a lot of fun, trust me. Where do you want to start? Shoes?”

“god no, they’ll never let me live that down, they’re a big-headed bunch all of them, do you really want to feed into that?” jaewon loved the boys, he really did, and they knew that for the most part yet he also knew at least some of them to get incredibly smug when said affection was voiced out loud. most of the time, it was best left implied. he only rolled his eyes, glaring at bomi afterward and deciding to drop the subject there, it wasn’t like he’d ever get rid of the cursed nickname anyway, continuing to complain about it would surely only make it worse. “i mean yeah, i guess, i know i won’t completely be able to avoid it but with a concert on the day itself and flying home to film our new mv overnight hours afterward, there is ample time for actual celebration. which is good, we’re busy, no need to waste time on something like that.” it wasn’t like there wouldn’t just be another birthday next year, jaewon genuinely didn’t get the fuss. “oh shut up,” he spluttered, deciding to occupy himself with the clothing rack in front of him. “one day you’re gonna start dating someone and i won’t let you hear the end of that, i hope you know that.” jaewon lightly swatted her hand away from his cheek. “also i never said i wasn’t stubborn, we both are, to a fault sometimes really. still, if there was one topic i wish he’d give in on more it’s that, be nice if he was more mindful of his own wellbeing for once.” last time had been terrifying enough, the last thing jaewon needed was for soo to collapse again but well, there wasn’t much he could do. “bomi, i’m built like a damn toothpick, no one wants to see that.” it wasn’t that jaewon didn’t work out, not to mention he danced plenty, he just wasn’t the type of person to ever grow visibly muscular, he’d always been skinny to a point it sometimes raised question. “there is nothing to show off so i prefer not to, it’s no rocket science.”

“Big-headed? Those angels? I could never see them being anything but the sweetest and kindest young men I’ve ever met in my entire life.” It was quite obvious by her tone of voice that she was being obnoxiously sarcastic. Bomi had been there to hear all about the little and not so little shenanigans that the younger members of Unity would get themselves involved with. If she were being honest, it was funnier than she would have let on. In all the years she had known Jaewon, she wouldn’t have ever guessed that he would end up being the leader of a group, and would be responsible for the well being of several other guys. It must have been a lot of pressure on his shoulders, a pressure that she was glad she hadn’t been knighted with. She already knew that she wasn’t levelheaded and responsible enough to be leader. Especially when they had debuted and she was just eighteen years old. She was glad that she had Aria’s leader to lean on over the course of their eight year career. Just the thought of being the person who had to take on all of her group members’ grievances and problems like Jaewon had to do as leader was foreboding, and it made her respect him even more. “Your birthday isn’t a waste of time, Jaewon,” she snapped chidingly, shaking her head. “You shouldn’t be so quick to shoot down the idea of celebrating your birthday. There are a lot of people who care about you and who want it to be a special day for you. Why are you being so difficult?” Bomi asked, her lips tugging down into a frown as she looked at him. “Joke’s on you, I’m going to be a bitter old maiden for the rest of my life.” Her smile returned. “He reminds me of someone I know..” She murmured under her breath, obviously referring to the man standing in front of her. “I’m sure Soo and thousands of other people would disagree with that.” She poked him in the stomach.

The word “confining” felt like yet another straitjacket that was added to the list of societal expectations that resulted in him feeling as if there were changes that needed to be made in order to be accepted.

Remaining in a single style had never been his intention, and yet… he could see what Bomi meant. Although it most likely hadn’t been the young woman’s intention, he took a moment to reflect on his life, on how for so many years he had conformed to the societal standards as well as possible when it came to being a South Korean by birth and partial blood. Despite being biracial and feeling at least somewhat like he was a “proper” Korean, he would never be able to forget the bullies who poked and prodded at his face in the hallways, asking him prying questions he’d never dare repeat to this day.

Confining was… like strangling one’s creativity, and that was, as such, a thing he had no desire to fall further into.

Dark eyes watched as the young woman draped the jacket over her arm, and a soft smile grew forth.

“You’re right. People should always grow, even in fashion,” he began, his lips parting further as he added, “Maybe you can help me pick out some more ‘edgy’ looks then? Something new and fresh?”

Bomi had always been a little bit of what she liked to consider a fashionista. Even when she was a little girl, she was interested in clothing and trying new and different things, and with her parents money, she was definitely allowed the privilege to do so. She was the type of person who liked to dress up her friends and was always lending out her clothes to her closest friends. It was no surprise that she carried that trait up to her adulthood, because she could often be found buying clothes for her more.. fashion impaired friends, namely her best friend, Jaewon. 

So she didn’t really think twice about her words to Charoen. It was something that she had said to many people before, because it was something she felt strongly about. Why confine yourself to one certain style? Or at least, one certain look? There could be many looks incorporated in the scope of one’s style. 

She smiled back at him, nodding her head in approval. “I’m glad you see things my way.” She reached out to pat his shoulder, before her smile widened. “Oh, I’d love to. Although it doesn’t necessarily have to be edgy, just something new and fresh. You have a very..” She hummed to herself. “Expensive look. In a good way! So I think we should find stuff for you that enhances that.”

    it was the place that duri had basically lived; if he wasn’t in the upstairs apartment, at school, at music lessons, or out with friends, he was in the café just doing his thing. he often get his friends to come to the café, especially since his aunt and uncle had wanted them to rather often; giving them the chance to shower them with treats. it was just how it had always been; it had also seemingly became clear that his friends were more like family, rather than just friends. he giggled, nodding his head. “okay!” the older states, before turning back upon his heels to walk towards the café. he went around a side they wouldn’t be able to be seen, making his way towards the back of the building. once getting to the back door, he opens the door slightly, peaking his head in. he giggles when he sees an employee, moving his mask down from his mouth, placing a finger up to his lips, before opening the door more. “okay, we’re clear! let’s go!” he whispered, moving inside the building.

Because Duri had spent so much time there growing up, Bomi had spent a lot of time there as well. It was almost an everyday occurrence - Duri would get home from school and invite all of his friends over to the café to enjoy sweet beverages and sweet treats. Bomi always liked to joke that it was Duri and his family’s fault that she had gone up a dress size during her middle school years, but at the time it was only because her body was changing and she was going through a growth spurt. It didn’t hurt that she could use that to joke with her best friend though. She waited until Duri gave her the green light, before she stepped inside of the building, quickly tugging down her own face mask. “It’s been too long since I’ve been here,” she echoed the sentiment from earlier, a soft sigh leaving her lips.

It had been quite some time since he had the opportunity to do something outside of the walls of Gold Star Media. July had been quite the rat race, with memorizing choreography, preparing for photoshoots, filming a music video… Long nights and barely sleep-filled days had come and… quite frankly kept coming.

On this day, however, he had somehow gathered enough strength to wander local shops. It was, of course, always a strange risk to go out by himself, and although he had invited the other idol along, that perhaps only made them more noticeable.

These were the sorts of things that constantly rolled over in his mind, and he had all of his hopes — most definitely — placed on nothing going awry.

“What do you think?” he asked, glancing to the other as he shrugged off a jacket. “It fits well but I’m not convinced it’s my style.”

Although they were in the middle of promotions for a comeback, Aria wasn’t as busy as they usually were during comeback season. It had been established that this comeback wasn’t meant to be a smash hit or a huge success, it was more so just a cute, fun summer song, mostly for their fans to enjoy. So she had a lot more free time on her hands. When Charoen had invited her out to go shopping, Bomi jumped at the chance with very little hesitation. She’d always been a shopping fiend. 

Local shops were her favorites, because she could find things there that she couldn’t in high end shops. Sometimes the cheapest and most basic of clothing items could be paired together and make the best outfits - that was something she had experienced first hand, which was why she was the biggest advocate for thrift store shopping. 

“I think it was cute on you! Why not try something different? Having one set style is so..” She pursed her lips as she searched for the right word. “Confining? Why stick to one thing when there are so many other things out there to explore?” She took the jacket from him, hanging it over her arm. “You’re getting this.”

jaewon scoffed in response, it wasn’t really like he could do much more than that in good consciousness. because bomi was right, unity could get away with a lot more than he’d admit. “pfft, i don’t need you spewing any of this nonsense around the boys, don’t want them trying to take advantage of that soft spot you keep talking about.” he stuffed his hands in his pockets, shaking his head. “and when will these stupid grinch jokes ever end? i thought they were reserved for christmas time.” if it wasn’t for bomi or the other unity boys, the joke seemed to have caught on with unity’s fanbase which meant jaewon truly would never hear the end of it. “there is no time for any of this birthday nonsense anyway, we’ll been on tour in canada by then and after that show we’re flying straight back to seoul guess i’ll have to pass this one up huh?” he knew he wouldn’t be allowed to completely ignore his birthday but with how crazy his schedule looked, there was at least no space for elaborate celebration. “a lot of the time, i don’t either but i also don’t think my fashion sense is the biggest deal breaker.” jaewon scoffed. “and that’s not true, i appreciate soo plenty now don’t i?” jaewon asked, immediately groaning at how cheesy the comment sounded.  “i’m planning on it and i’ll ask the others to do the same but you know how soo gets, he’s so damn stubborn about this stuff.” he sighed, shaking his head. jaewon eyed the top bomi held up in horror. “yeah, no, how about we don’t go there.” he responded hastily. dimensions had a knack of putting jaewon in questionable not-quite-shirts, crop tops and going shirtless included and truly, there were few things he hated more. “let’s leave that trend for people that can pull it off yes? you know, far away from me.”

“Maybe I should tell them all just how soft you are? I’m sure that’d make them more motivated to start working on their puppy dog eyes so they can get you to do things for them.” Bomi found it amusing how resistant Jaewon was to the idea, even though it was clear as day that he cared very deeply about his group members and that he would do anything for them, even if the request was ridiculous and tedious. “You know that nicknames are year round, not just for one specific time of year. Maybe if you weren’t a Grinch, people wouldn’t call you that.” Bomi didn’t say it nearly as much as his group members seemed to though, and she couldn’t help but smile whenever they did and he got annoyed. “There’s always time to celebrate your birthday. Do you really think that Unity’s fans are going to come to your concert on your birthday and not do a bunch of shit to celebrate with you? And do you really think the boys aren’t going to try to bring a cake onstage for you? You’re not giving them enough credit. You’re going to get caught up with at least some birthday related things, you might as well accept it, Jaewon.” She faked gagged at his words, before she snorted. “Aw, look how cute and in love you are.. I remember when you were just a small boy.. They grow up so fast.” She reached out to playfully pinch his cheek. “Wow, look at the pot calling the kettle black. You’re just as stubborn as he is. No wonder you guys are perfect for each other.” She tried, and failed, to keep a straight face at Jaewon expression when he saw the shirt. “What do you mean for people who can pull it off? You don’t think you can pull it off? You have a cute stomach, it deserves to be shown off.”

    it was almost kind of crazy how all three of them had found themselves in the idol industry. it was something that duri could have never thought up when they were little kids in elementary school. however, duri had always dreamed of being an idol and it was really nice to have jaewon and bomi there as well. they really were the people that were with each other through everything; seemingly, he wouldn’t have it any other way. they were his family, his little siblings even; he couldn’t help but to consider them as such. he had wondered if they considered him as such as well. when friends forever was said, it was incredibly true for the trio.

“good!” he said, a soft giggle leaving his lips. he did his best to visit the café when he could, just because he didn’t get to see his family often when his schedules were busy. so, now that he had the time before things got busy for the next three months, he was going to visit them with bomi. he giggles slightly, “i haven’t seen them in a little bit! i always feel bad, but i call when i’m busy. i’m excited to surprise them!” he said, another small giggle leaving his lips once more. he nodded his head, “they won’t even know we’re there!” he says with another giggle. “we’re not that far out now! probably a few minutes?” he says. it really would only take a few minutes because before he knew it, they were there. “okay! we have to sneak around the back,” he says, a soft giggle leaving his lips.   

With both of them being quite busy, it wasn’t a surprise that neither of them could really visit as often as they would like to. Not nearly as often as they used to visit back when they were kids. And the opportunity for them to visit together came even less frequently. There had been quite a few times where Bomi had decided to go off on her own and visit his family’s little café. She had known Duri for so long that his family treated her as if she were family herself, which was something she really liked about the Parks. They were always so welcoming and so loving. It was no wondering why Duri was such a sweet soul when one met his family. They arrived a lot sooner than she thought they would, which was always a good thing. “Lead the way, sir.” She gestured for him to move along first, eyebrows raising expectantly.

         it had been a really long while since duri had gotten the chance to go visit his aunt and uncle at their café. it was understandable though, since a lot of the time his schedule didn’t quite call for it. however, he found sometime on one particular day before everything got crazy for him once again. he had asked bomi if she wanted to tag along with him, since he was sure it had been a long while since his aunt and uncle had seen her as well. the two were childhood friends, remaining good friends throughout the years; which was really nice, considering she was one of the people that had helped him down the line when it came to everything that was going on, inside of his head, she might just not know it. nonetheless, he was pretty excited to have the visit today, he had truly missed his family. 

“are you ready to go?” he asked, turning to bomi, a smile across his face. “ah, i’m so excited we’re visiting today! it’s been a really long time since i’ve visited,” he said, giggling a bit. “we should probably also go in the back way because there’s a lot of fans that tend to visit, plus it’ll put my aunt and uncle’s minds at ease!” he says, another soft giggle leaving his lips. he made sure to conceal himself with his mask, sunglasses, and hat; just to be safe. they weren’t that far away from hongdae now, which was good; even if it was a bit tedious as duri didn’t like cars and tried to avoid them if he wasn’t on a schedule.  

Life had a crazy way of working out, especially when it came to friendships and keeping everyone connected. She had met Duri when she was just a little girl back in elementary school. He was the older guy that everyone loved because he was so kind to the people around him, and she admired that about him, even at that young age. She’d be lying if she tried to say that Duri didn’t have a large impact on her life, and that she wouldn’t be the same person that she is right now without him. Both him and Jaewon contributed to her life a great deal, more so than anyone else, even her parents, and she had a lot of things to thank them for. They’d be there with her through everything; laughter, tears, happiness, sadness. And they hadn’t left her side through any of it, and she hadn’t left theirs’ either. After almost twenty years of friendship, they were all still close friends and she didn’t see that changing anytime soon. 

“Of course I’m ready to go.” Bomi hadn’t visited his relatives’ cafe in what felt like ages, and she missed their food and the treats that they sold there. She remembered how she used to go there all the time, but she just hadn’t found the time to do so in a long while. She felt regretful that she had pretty much neglected her pseudo family, and she was going to make sure she apologized as soon as she saw them. “I’m excited too! I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve seen them..” She trailed off, before chuckling. “You’re probably right. I don’t want to turn their cafe into a circus with all of your fans,” she teased, reaching up to adjust her own face mask and hat. “How far away are we?”

“yeah i am, i won’t deny that, but more in a i’d die before i let anything bad happen to them kind of way. also i’m not too fond of the thought of most of the driving in all honesty.” it wasn’t so much that he was completely against the thought of the boys’ driving but he had to admit the thought unsettled him. perhaps it was just him being overbearing, maybe it had to do with his parents’ accident, possibly both. “odds are i’d sooner let them talk me into playing their chauffeur. don’t tell them that though, i don’t need them to take me up on that.” the second part was added in an afterthought, a warning tone in his voice. “it’s not that it matters what i want anyway. there are a few very stubborn individuals-” he shot her a pointed look. “that will insist on celebrating it anyway.” he shrugged casually. “i don’t have to be able to tell the difference between them because it doesn’t matter, they’re just clothes, it’s not that deep.” jaewon protested defensively. his style wasn’t terrible if you asked him, it was just simple, he had better things to do than worry about what to wear. “yeah, no worries, that won’t happen. i know shit is hectic but i know that if i overdo it, it will do more harm than good.” he moved his gaze from the rack of clothing back to bomi. “my biggest concern is that i can’t say the same for soo. last time he didn’t see the fault in it, i’m worried it might just happen again.”

“Fair point.” She was well aware of Jaewon’s aversion to cars and similar forms of transportation, so she could understand why he wouldn’t want any of his members to drive anywhere, especially since most of them were still so young. “But you can miss me with that other bullshit. You know your softness for them goes way beyond that. You’d do anything for them and you know it. I bet if one of them did something like woke you up in the middle of the night to make them food, you’d do it without hesitating. It’s kind of cute how in denial you are of how much of a sap you are for them. Mr. Grinch, I think your heart is growing three times in size,” she teased, her red painted lips curving upwards to form a grin. “Exactly, which is why you should just sit back and enjoy it. You’re going to have a great birthday and it’s going to be fun. You’re going to love it, trust me. Have I ever steered you wrong?” Bomi asked, the question obviously rhetorical. “I don’t see how you and Soo ended up together.. I can’t believe he puts up with your aversion to anything nice looking.” She rolled her eyes at him. “You just have to make sure you keep a closer eye on him. Make sure that the rest of the group does too.. Oh! This would look great on you.” She pulled a shirt off the rack. “It’s kind of like a crop top, but it’s not that short. It falls right below your navel. Cute, right? Guys should bring crop tops back again.”
