Two hard boiled eggs, a bowl of brown rice, and half a sliced apple. Sakura poked at her dinner that sat upon the kitchen table. It looked as unappetizing as ever but she knew tomorrow would hold an extra hour or so of dance training since a choreographer was coming in to work with them. This wasn’t the first time, she wondered if their debut song this time around would finally be their actual debut song. The back and forth alone was agonizing. She picked up a slice of apple and crunched it slowly, not even that sweet.
The girls had all headed off to bed, they’d gotten home a bit later than usual and Sakura chose to shower while they all ate. She was sure they couldn’t be full on tonight’s recommended portion. It was nearly 11pm and they hadn’t eaten since a small lunch at 1pm. Of course, it wasn’t abnormal to be tired and hungry. It’d become a regular part of routine. Once in a while, Sakura would sneak out to a nearby noodle bar and snack a little extra. She didn’t worry about it too much since she never seemed to put on much weight. Tonight, she was really craving spicy pork ramyun.
As she quietly put on her sneakers to leave, she heard the sink running in the bathroom. Eunbi emerged from the washroom, probably just finishing up before bed. Sakura twisted her lips, Eunbi wasn’t the most fun to hang around with. She was kind of weird and embarrassing. She dressed lazily and always seemed confused about what everyone else in the room would be talking about. Sakura often found herself conducting inner eye rolls at her fellow member. Eunbi would never be that popular if she couldn’t communicate well. Sakura had considered it shouldn’t be an issue as less attention on Eunbi meant more for herself. However, every members’ success was crucial for the success of Nyx, no one could be falling behind.
“Eunbi-ah,” Sakura called out in a hushed tone. Was she really about to do this? “I’m going out to get some noodles. Do you want to come with me? It’ll only take a few minutes.” Sure, it was against the rules, but she was certain the other girl was just as hungry as her.
As usual, all seven of the girls were tired from a day full of schedules. While Eunbi found herself napping anywhere she could and anytime she had available, she knew the other six weren’t as lucky to be able to fall asleep just about anywhere like she could. It resulted in a rested Eunbi, but a messy sleep schedule, usually with her sleeping at 3 AM only to wake up early the next morning for more schedules.
It wasn’t that she minded much. Eunbi preferred the comfort of her own company over the awkward silences she often shared with her members. It was hard holding up a conversation given she often felt silly compared to the other six girls. All of them pretty, confident girls and then there was Eunbi, clumsy and unsure of herself, a constant state of discomfort. Half the time Eunbi just wondered around, half listening to whatever was being talked about between the other girls. The few times she spoke were when she was spoken to, which was often responded with a nod or simple answer from Eunbi.
Like she did, Eunbi wait for the other girls to shower, get ready and whatnot before preparing herself. She had only brushed her teeth and scrubbed off the make-up she felt pressured to wear before she even had put on pajamas. It would be another few hours before she’d even consider sleeping, anyways.
She jumped. She was certain the other members were asleep. Confused, Eunbi darted her eyes to whoever called her name to only be shocked that Sakura was speaking to her. It was nothing against the other girl. There was just an aura around her that intimidated Eunbi ever so slightly. But, she was playing off a weakness of hers: food. Eunbi could and would never say no to food.
A nervous laugh rolled out accompanied by a folded brow, “Are you sure you want to go out to eat with me?” Though, there wasn’t much time to respond as she walked to put on her own shoes. The question still lingered in the younger’s mind.
