Love, Simon (2018) perfectly displays the difference between a manipulative public proposal and a sweet grand romantic gesture in the best way possible. Martin, when trying to ask a girl out, publicly humiliates her by pressuring her to say yes to him in front of a huge crowd of people and putting her in the spotlight, making her visibly uncomfortable.
