Today on: Things that make me want to punch myself in the face and eat my own lungs.
They only performed two songs for the cisco live thingy, but I am still so glad we got at least some fob content this year
Just realized I forgot to crop all of my screenshots. But also @ginandjoints on twitter recorded the performance and posted it on their twitter if you'd like to see it!
And @goldxplated posted these really nice screencaps of pete!

My sense of humour: the comments on the official music video for Sugar We're Goin Down by Fall Out Boy
Okay but there’s actually a really good reason for this!!
This song, and particularly the chorus, is at the very top of his register. That means everything is harder to pronounce while actually sounding good, because you have to do all sorts of stupid shit with your throat, mouth, jaw, tongue, neck, shoulders, ribs, and abdominal muscles just to get the sound out without it sounding like you were just punched in the throat. For most people that includes modifying vowels to be more open, whether that’s an “Ah” position or an “AAAAAAH” position. His diction is actually really excellent. But between the modification and the speed/rhythm of this song it doesn’t really register as full words unless you already know what to listen for. So instead of “we’re going down, down in an earlier round and sugar we’re going down swinging” what you hear is “were gon dahn dahn inanerly uhr raond n sh ugh uh were gon don swng’n.”
The consonants are the scaffolding that builds the words, but the vowels are what actually carry them out to the audience. Because there’s so much modification that has to be done for him to sing this song you have a lot of consonants that are VERY short, but not quite clipped. So your brain acts like there’s no sensible words happening. This is super common if you’re singing in any sort of chorus/choir. You almost always see the director tell the sopranos (and sometimes tenors) to let go of the consonants and just make sure to get the notes, while the people singing more in the middle of their range will provide all of the diction required for the lyrics to be understood.
