the fact i reblogged that self promo while chewing a mouth full of fries & chasing them w/ milkshake all while wiping fry & burger grease off my free hand onto my shirt ... should tell you all you need to know abt how much i understand this character :/

remembering this comes out this month single handedly renewed my will to Live

 it  warms  my  heart  how  much  the  younger  kids  in  riverdale  all  love  ju.ghead .     like  he’s  actually  a  great  babysitter  &  all  the  kids  think  he’s  so  much  fun .     they  call  him  ‘ mister  jughead ’  &  they  address  no  other  teen  like  that  ( which  irritates  veronica )  &  say  he’s  their  “ favorite  adult ” .     

 there’s  also  a  few  little  kids  in  town  who  call  him  “ king  jones  the  first ”  because ,  as  they’ve  told  reggie ,  he  wears  a  crown  &  only  kings  wear  crowns .     jug  plays  along  with  this  with  no  question .     he  tips  his  “ crown ”  to  them  as  he  passes  &  they  bow ,  he’s  made  up  an  entire  story  as  to  how  his  kingdom  was  stolen  from  him ,   &  he’s  even  knighted  two  of  the  kids .

 — oh my god ;  but the words don’t make it to her lips,  a hand covers her mouth and she’s left there with the flickering image of  his father – her husband – fp jones… and how she found out. Her bones freeze & she can’t move. There was the INSATIABLE need to protect her son how she could not with her own husband.  Taking a step forward,  you could see the pain riddled into her dark eyes & you didn’t need to hear her heart to know it broke.  He doesn’t know what’s going on and could anyone really blame him ?? She never … sat him down, because her nights were spent  praying  he didn’t have the gene that his father carried. to wake up in blood — or see a loved one wake up in blood. That was their life. Quickly, she just… hugs him – tightly. Isn’t that what he needed ?  Mothers love ?  “ It’s okay, “ and so it begins. 

 there’s  too  much  to  process  &  he’s  to  scared  to  try  &  push  away  his  mother’s  arms .     his  arms  curl  around  her  &  he  hunches ,  pressing  his  nose  into  her  hair .     (  the  soothing  hint  of  vanilla  from  her  shampoo .  )     he  feels  six  years  old  all  over  again ,  wanting  to  cry  into  his  mother’s  shoulder  with  guilt  about  what  he  did .     though ,  this  time ,  it’s  far  more  than  something  such  as  a  broken  VCR  or  smashed  vase .     DILTON  ...      his  heart  is  still  pounding  but  her  embrace  steadies  him  &  helps  him  to  breathe .     it’s  okay .     he  sighs  because ,  NO ,  it’s  not .            ❛    mom ,  it  ------  it’s  ME .     i’m  the  riverdale  ripper .    ❜            the  confession ,  told  without  the  earlier  disbelief  &  now  just  with  crushing  acceptance ,  breaks  him .     his  eyes  shut ,  letting  go  waiting  tears ,  &  his  head  hangs .

 ❛    AAAGH  !     SABRINA  !    ❜          he  nearly  stumbles .     a  few  steps  backwards  then  effort  of  throwing  his  weight  forward  &  a  few  twirls  of  his  arms  before  he  feels  himself  steady  with  the  new  weight .     there’s  a  few  seconds  of  stillness  &  settling  shock  before  he  lets  out  an  air  of  relief .            ❛    phew  …  you  know ,  you’re  very  lucky  that  my  years  as  archie’s  friend  have  only  improved  my  balance  to  make  up  for  the  lack  of  his .    ❜

❝  they’re  leftovers  from  another  table,   jughead.     i  sat  them  there  to  throw  them  away  !  ❞   the  world’s  worst  waitress  stands,   hands  resting  atop  her  hips  as  she  looks  down  upon   THE  SCAVENGER.   if  sabrina  was   completely  honest,   which  was  never  the  goal,   she’d  been  half  hoping  he’d  lick  the  plate  clean  so  she  wouldn’t  have  to  wash  up  later.   a  scoff,   feigned  disgust,   but  she  falls  into  the  booth  seat  across  from  him.   ❝  did  you  happen  to  leave  any  ?  ❞

 ❛    a  fry  is  a  fry  is  a  fry ,  sabrina !     why  let  them  go  to  the  trash  if  i’m  right  here ?    ❜            pop’s  best  customer  rests  his  elbow  up  on  the  table  &  props  his  cheek  against  the  heel  of  his  palm ,  completely  unworried  about  the  current  situation .     so  what  if  they  were  someone  else’s  leftovers ?     not  like  anyone  else  was  gonna  eat  them .            ❛    and  i  don’t  know  who  you  THINK  you’re  talking  to  but  jughead  jones  leaves  no  scraps  behind  on  any  dish !    ❜
