Nirvana's new single, ‘Sliver’, weighs in at a fraction over two minutes and is one hell of a pop song. No messing.
Kurt: "We like to think of it that way too. It's probably the most straightforward song we've ever recorded but we don't really care if people say that we're spinning off at a tangent. We've always tried to accomplish something new with every track and we've always liked the idea that each one sounds as though it's been written by a different band."

Kurt Cobain’s Guitars. Part 1
✨1974-1977: Univox Hi-Flier Phase 3✨
This is one of the first guitars purchased by Kurt. The photograph of Kurt with the Univox Hi-Flier was taken in late September 1986 in a room that most likely served as a temporary bedroom for Kurt prior to the move.
Kurt's Univox is a Hi-Flier that appears to have been produced sometime between 1974 and 1977. Two humbuckers on the guitar, which were not on this model until 1974, and a white pickguard, which in 1977 was replaced by black one on the models with a gradient color (resembles a sunset), serve as a reference point for determining these dates. It was mostly a cheap alternative to the Mosrite Ventures guitar, which Kurt later used in his career.
Kurt supposedly played this guitar from the mid-80s to 1988 at all early Nirvana concerts in 1987. He painted the cover pink and stuck a bunch of stickers on the body. It ended with her splitting at Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA in October 1988. This is believed to be the first time he ever broke a guitar on stage.
✨1974-1977: Univox Hi-Flier Phase 3 №2✨
It is important to note that in early 1988, other Gradient Univox Hi-Flier appeared. Identical in performance, this guitar did not have any stickers, and the pickguard was not pink - so it looks like a different guitar. Towards the end of 1988, this guitar was also adorned with some decals, and the neck pickup was removed - probably for installation in the Greco Mustang.
The strange thing is that after Kurt smashed his first Univox in October 1988, he did not return to it, but switched to a completely different guitar. Both guitars (if considered different) were gone by the end of 1988.
