How to deal with Little Meltdowns

This is how my daddy calms me down after I have a meltdown (I’m not ALWAYS perfect…)

If your little is not already laying on a comfy surface try to get them that way.

Your little will most likely face away from you. Big spoon them and drape an arm around

If your little tries to tell you to go away, don’t unless they insist. then move your arm but don’t roll away.

At this point, once daddies arm is moved, I usually freak out that he moved.

This, is how he gets me to turn over.

Cuddle your little into your arms and talk to them calmly.Tell them you love them. That it’s okay. Comfort them. Kiss their head. Brush their hair with your hands.

Once your little has calmed a bit, reach for the nearest stuffie

Say “OH LOOK! (stuffie name) IS HUGGING YOU

If the little laughs, smother them with kisses, yours and the stuffies

if they keep crying repeat step 6 until you get to 9

Once your little is stable enough to talk, make sure whatever issue there was is resolved.

Make sure to cuddle, give juice, paci, blankets. Make them feel safe again

Alright guys! This might not work for every Caregiver and Little but here is a general outline of one of daddies favorite ways to calm me down. Of course, it’s different depending on the situation and this is a very general version but I thought I would share this with you guys!!!!

what I want from a Daddy

Treat me like a little boy. Help me me pick out what to wear, and help me put on my clothes. Ask me if I have to go to the bathroom before we go on trips in the car, because little boys don’t always remember to stop when they’re playing. Ask  me which superhero is on my underpants today, and wonder out loud whether they’ll have to fight the Evil Pee Monster.

Check to make sure my pants aren’t wet every so often.

Put on my pull-ups gently, but firmly, that you brought against my protests. Reassure me that it’s ok to have accidents sometimes, that’s just what little boys do. Give me my paci to calm me down when I fuss about my new, thicker underwear. Help me take my pants off so you can check my pull-ups when we get home. Ask me when my pull-ups got wet ,and how, and why didn’t I say anything to you. Take me over your lap when I admit I didn’t even try to make it to the potty. Pull down my wet pull-ups and spank me while commenting on how disappointed you are that I don’t seem to care about not going pee pee in my pants. Hold me close, and gently rub my red bottom and tell me it’s ok while I cry softly into your chest. Tell me that it’s bedtime, and therefore diaper time. Drag me away while I protest that I don’t need diapers, and it’s still daylight outside.

Ask me if I’ve already forgotten my sore bottom, since backtalk results in spankings. Lay me down on the diapers you laid out and powder and lotion my bottom. Tell me that I must be a very little boy indeed to still need diapers at my age. Ask me if I secretly wanted to be back in diapers when you see how turned on I’ve become. Tease me about my diapers getting wet during the night while you tape me securely into them. Give me my paci and cuddle me, and call me little one, and pat and rub my bottom while telling me that you don’t mind that I’m just a little boy, even when I’m naughty. Tell me that if I’m a good boy tonight but I also wet my diapers, maybe you’ll give me an extra special change only for really good boys in the morning.
