colossal mood
They’re a good boy. (via imgur)
I was with my little (16 y/o) brother in a retail place. There was a glass jar of candy on one of the selves and he said he had the urge to throw it on the ground. I told him not to. He said “Why? It would be funny.” I told him because the employees would have to clean it up. And was saying shit like “It’s their job.” And honestly it was hard to explain to him why that was wrong because even though I had that mentality at his age too, it seems obvious to me now. I said something along the lines of “But that doesn’t mean we should be dicks, we should still be courteous. Their job is not cleaning up broken glass and product. Just because they have a job here doesn’t mean we have to make their lives harder. They shouldn’t have to clean up after us, especially bc of some stupid shit like that.” I’m still not sure if he got it, hopefully he did.
This makes me especially mad coming from him because his first and only job was a channel changer at a sports bar. A channel changer and he got paid $10/hr for that. Minimum wage in my state is $8.05. I had to work for less than he got (but a bit more than min, it was $8.50, but that’s still laughable) AFTER I graduated college in a job (also my first job) outside of my field and was on my own having to pay all my own bills. I’m not sure he realizes how lucky he is/was and how fucked the system is. I just hope he gets it through his head soon or has to work in retail where he has to pick up after people with his mentality so he does.
perfect for a chilly night like this
I need this in my life.
