Fallen Humanity
I've sat alone in this big empty house
I've cried in my luxury car
I've had a well saved up bank account
But there were also times I never felt so broke before.
It's not about closing the door
When someone isn't as fortunate as you
It's about pulling up a chair and saying
If I'm eating then you're eating too.
We get this rat race mentality
Like we need to be bigger faster and stronger
And heaven forbid if anyone's asks how we got there
No we'd rather hold out & make their success take longer.
We're not "giving away secrets"
We're helping society to expand
I don't know when kindness became weakness
I don't know when man stopped helping man.
And I mean really helping,
Without anything expected in return
Why dont we do things for one another
Unless there's something in it to be earned?
How about a sense of pride for teaching?
A full heart for making someone's day?
Why is it every man for himself?
Instead of what can I add to your skill set or trade?
Times are tough man I get it
But remember that giving doesn't have to be something you can hold
Kind words and advice go a long way
An open mind and a shoulder that's not cold.
Good character reaps richness
Good karma offers reward
But even if people don't treat you like you treat them
It's really not your soul that's suffering the most.
We're not all cut from the same cloth
We're not all created from the same mold
But if we can pick up someone else's pieces
Why wouldn't we want to lighten their load?
Survival of the fittest?
How about all for 1 and 1 for all?
At the end of the day we're all human
So why has our humanity taken such a fall?
