With 10 years of experience in an array of genres ranging from weddings to lifestyle, fashion and portraits, she is well versed in the business of showing people in their best possible light. Stephanie has honed her skill-set toward the time-honored tradition of portrait-photography, drawing upon inspiration from luminaries of classical painting, fashion photography, Hollywood and the silver screen, contemporary pop culture and everywhere in between. Her approach incorporates her years of experience in magazine editorials to bring to the table a product that is simultaneously classic and classy, fresh and current. Originally from Fremont, Stephanie spent her high school and college years in California’s San Francisco Bay Area. She received awards in portrait painting after attending a summer oil painting course for pre-college students at the San Francisco Academy of Art, however, an art school education did not follow. After high school she attended the University of California, Santa Cruz where she intended to study oil painting, though lack of enrollment priority as an underclassmen would cause her to fall back on photography. In light of the trajectory she found herself on and armed with a photography degree, Stephanie moved to San Francisco to launch a career in fashion, pin-up and portrait photography working as a staff photographer for the SuicideGirls, San Francisco based SOMA Magazine, a host of event and nightlife companies, and as a test photographer for Ford Models, LOOK Models and San Francisco’s Passport Modeling Agency. Stephanie simultaneously delved into modeling pursuits of her own, carving out a name for herself in the Alternative scene. Subsequently, her work on both sides of the lens has been published in a variety of books, magazines, and websites, most notably appearing in The New Erotic Photography, 2012, published by TASCHEN. Hello Segovia. Your writing always finds a way to comfort my poor heart whenever I'm feeling so hopelessly alone and lost in life, (amongst more positive moments as well). I wanted to ask, do you ever feel lonely? If so, how do you combat it? At times I feel as if I can be secure in my solitude, but just as quickly I'm gripped by the need to be surrounded by like-minded people. It makes my chest and throat ache so tenderly. (where oh where do if find other solemn witch women)
I am rather elated to know that you find a kind of solace in my writing; thank you for such a compliment! To answer your question, I am always lonely and if I may be honest here, I have lived my life in loneliness since I was a girl. I’ve very little camaraderie or intimacy. As far as combating it goes, I had to come to a place where I felt at peace with loneliness, where I no longer saw it as an enemy. There is no fighting loneliness, there is always more loneliness. When we can stand before our loneliness with least resistance, we come to a place where we can feel whole and empowered by the card we have been dealt.
I have had to learn the same lesson many times because of my resistance towards my own loneliness and the conclusion was always the same: that it has always been very difficult for me to maintain relationships with others; I seldom relate to them and am often very much stifled by company. I have experienced terrible cruelty and unusual set backs because of my interactions with others leading me to know (that in this lifetime) I am not meant to experience friendship. There is something else calling. When I was able to accept this, I found my power in my solidarity and it became much easier to live in this space because I found I was listening, then, to my truest purpose. Through solitude, I am maintained, nourished, powerful. Perhaps we fall akin here, :).
I know it is the most difficult, but those who walk the path of solitude are few and far between. It is not meant for everyone and when we realize that the hermit is indeed our life path, it can be a gutting and rude awakening…but when we can embrace it and see it as so rightfully our own, the world unfolds in mysterious ways and suddenly, solace is found in the invisible, inner dimensions of this magnificent and brave life. We are each meant for something, lonely or not. <3

We have patiently suffered long enough, hoping that someone or some kind of luck would one day grant us more opportunity and happiness. But nothing external can save us, and the fateful hour is at hand when we either become trapped at this level of life or we choose to ascend to a higher plane of consciousness and joy. In this ailing and turbulent world, we must find peace within and become more self-reliant in creating the life we deserve. -Brendon Burchard
