2026 needs to be the year I become the person I want to be. To accomplish the things I always wanted to. To take care of myself the best way i can and want. To be the mother, lover, daughter, friend I should be. I've been building up to this and I feel it in my bones. Change is coming.
Accomplishments for January 2026
-Healthy hair- cut 8 inches off, learned how to style it, how to condition properly, added a bonnet to the bed time routine to reduce time with hair up. Its still a little messy but so much healthier.
Nail care- always wanted professionally done nails but they're expensive and honestly not approved to have at work, plus can ruin your nails. So I taught myself how to do gel nails at home and am giving my nails spa treatment including vitamin E cuticle oil with changes. Now I always have healthy, pretty nails
Skin care- I've never had a skin care routine and I've never loved my skin. I researched and started a new routine in am and pm with proper washes, vitamin serums and retinol. My skin has never felt better
Physical- for months I've been enduring back pain. I tried all the tricks. It's gotten to the point where my everyday life is affected. So im doing something about it. I researched and started stretching and back exercises on my own and then start physical therapy. I have consistently done these back exercises twice a day every day or the whole month in addition to therapy. I am also using heat, ice, and lidocaine to relieve pain. I have a long way to go but I can feel that underneath, im getting stronger.
Getting out more, meeting people- Im an introvert and I'm shy. I could come home Thursday and not leave my house again till Monday without thinking twice. But its not good for me. What am I going to do when im older and I have no friends? So I made some extra effort to leave the house even if it was just to go to the store and I joined an in person drop on craft group that meets 2x a month at the local library. I felt so BRAVE.
I also started and finished a cross stitch project after not stitching in about 20 years and never finishing a project AND I learned how to use my cricut enough to make name labels for our (16) snake tanks.
Lastly I have an idea for a small side hustle business. So I January i did a lot of research on licensing, insurance, pricing, advertising etc for the business which I hope to roll in a few months.
Not every goal was successful. I DID NOT take a national certification exam i have been studying and hope to complete by the end of the month. I also did not try to learn to cook and make a new recipe each week. Even though there were some failures, im extremely proud of the consistency I've showed throughout January and im already working on new goals for February
