Well it’s no wonder poor old Henry the barn cat has a limp!

This mostly feral cat has been hanging around my place for a couple of years now and he’s always had a limp. It’s never slowed him down much and he’s always been a healthy weight so I just let him be. I’ve been feeding him for a long time and recently he’s started getting a little friendlier but you still can’t touch him (he can touch you though! He rubs on my legs and butts my hand when I’m putting his food out). 

Last night I noticed he had a scratch on his face and that his bum leg was swollen and he kept licking at his dew claw so this morning I caught him and took him to the vet. Turns out he’d been in a fight or hung that claw on something and broken it badly (circled in the bottom on the left side) and the bone had gone necrotic so the vet opted to just amputate the whole toe.

The vet was curious about his limp too so she x-rayed his whole leg free of charge and discovered the above old, horrific injury. Some scumbag shot Henry a long time ago and the shattered humerus healed badly, completely fusing it so he can’t full extended his leg. His radius and ulna were also fractured and healed with some gnarly spurs of bone. Henry also has a broken off canine lower canine tooth.

She estimated he’s probably only around five years old or so but this poor cat has had a hell of a life already! He sure is one tough critter!

reasons guinea pigs are the purest creatures

• if you shake a plastic bag they’ll think it’s their veggies and get all excited

• when they fall asleep they stick their leg out really far and it’s hilarious

• long haired ones are fabulous

• sometimes they squeak loud enough that their ears flap up and down, no i am not joking

• they have their own lil dominance systems within their groups like lil packs of wolves or somethin

• floppy ears

• you can teach them tricks like little dogs, like how to run in a circle or stand on their hind paws on command, or ring a bell for food

• sometimes they lick u with their lil tung

• hairless piggies look like tiny hippos

• when they’re exploring or just runnin around they’ll make little happy exploring noises

• when they’re really happy they’ll do this thing called popcorning which is basically when they vibrate really fast and do a hop and sneeze a little and it kinda looks like they’re glitching out but nope they’re just literally too excited to contain themselves

• for exercise they do zoomies around their cage and the speed they can get to is actually quite impressive

• they can eat cherries and the juice makes em look like vampires

• literally if you just give them food they will love you unconditionally, forever
