i don’t think Prideshipping is one sided,
Atem actually cares about Kaiba especially in the anime atem wants Kaiba to see more as a friend than enemy, there’s a post where atem defends Kaiba to some puppet guy not only that in anime atem threatened Pegasus for using fake kaiba
in the sub he said you tricked our hearts
in the battle city, atem encourage Kaiba to win against Ishizu, let’s not forget atem said it loudly I felt the pulse of your soul Kaiba, dsod the ending atem looked happy to see Kaiba like he was waiting for him there, believe it or not these two have incredible connection
I agree 👍
Is Prideshipping one sided ?
I can’t really speak for everyone because it depends a lot on how people interpret their dynamic.
On one hand, a lot of fans see it as pretty one-sided because Seto is… well. Seto. His obsession with Atem is kind of legendary. Meanwhile Atem can come across as indifferent toward him, or at best like he sees him as a distant rival/friend. People also point to how close Atem is with Yugi and the rest of the group, which makes it easy to read Seto’s feelings as not really being reciprocated.
On the other hand, a lot of fans (myself included) read it differently. Seto is just way more obvious about his feelings, while Atem tends to be a lot more subtle. Atem clearly enjoys interacting with him, understands him in a way most characters don’t, and has a bond with him that feels very different from the one he has with the rest of the Friendship Squad.
Basically: Seto is loud about it, Atem is quiet about it.
Imagine Seto and The Friendship Squad trying to explain social media to Atem… Got the picture? Now imagine them trying to explain AI to him 😂
Idk I just need a YGO episode where Atem learns how to use a coffee machine

Disturbed but genuinely fascinated by this whole "using YuGiOh in White House propaganda" firestorm. Like, yes Kazuki Takahashi was consistently anti-war and it reflects pretty obviously in YuGiOh, but some random White House minion would not know that. In fact many people who have actually watched the show or read the manga somehow manage to miss that aspect of it.
No, it's just more surprising to me that when the White House reaches for propaganda clips that apparently project All-American Strength & Power, they're like, "oh let's go for a guy who is known by practically everyone for three things, whether they've seen the show or not: A) Being an Egyptian Pharaoh, B) Being a goth, C) Being from a Japanese cartoon"
Is this aspect of it just as baffling to Americans as it is to the rest of us? Because most of the discourse I'm seeing from the English-speaking YGO fandom is these stunned and affronted tweets along the lines of: "THIS MAKES NO SENSE BECAUSE YUGIOH IS ANTI WAR" with only the rare tweet saying "THIS MAKES NO SENSE BECAUSE YUGIOH IS A JAPANESE ANIME ABOUT AN EGYPTIAN PHARAOH"
To be clear I'm aware that the White House does insane and stupid and inexplicable things and it's useless to try and follow their logic. I'm more surprised by how American YGO fans are responding; like, incredulous that the White House wasn't aware of YGO's thematic material, rather than the fact that it's the American government claiming a media that is completely and very obviously foreign as a part of American national identity
For anyone as out of the loop as I am:
A video shared by The White House on X has sparked widespread debate online after it combined footage of real airstrikes on Iran with scenes from popular films, television shows and video games. [...] Among the characters and scenes included are Russell Crowe as Maximus from Gladiator, Mel Gibson in Braveheart, and Tom Cruise from Top Gun as well as Tropic Thunder. [...] Other appearances include Keanu Reeves from John Wick, Christopher Reeve’s Superman declaring “truth and justice in the american way,'' Adam Driver as Kylo Ren from Star Wars, Optimus Prime from Transformers, as well as characters and visuals referencing Halo, Mortal Kombat, Yu‑Gi‑Oh! and Dragon Ball. These entertainment clips are interspersed with aerial strike visuals, explosions and drone footage from the ongoing conflict. [...] Creators and studios have also historically objected to the use of their characters or footage in political campaigns or messaging without permission. The video quickly spread across social media platforms, where reactions ranged from disbelief to criticism of the cultural messaging behind it.

is Prideshipping official canon ?
I heard the creator ship them or they said dsod is Kaiba love story
Technically, it's not canon since Kazuki Takahashi didn't say so…
BUT one of the people working on DSOD (I can't remember who) said that he considered it to be a love story, and Takahiro Kagami agreed with him. Anyway, this ship is canon in my heart ❤️
I like the fact that Seto doesn't consider death a valid excuse for breaking up, but Atem loses to some super-muscular guy who gets screen time, and Seto spends the whole season being all dramatic and offended and wants to break up.
again yami ? 😔
Yami Bakura and Yami Marik would have loved taking part in Death-T. They would have been able to kill everyone without understanding anything about the games.
Seto Kaiba really is The Character of All Time. He has more money than God. He's the reincarnation of an Ancient Egyptian Priest. He gets a lobotomy that erases all the evil in his heart and is still mostly a dick. He loves his brother more than himself. He drove his step-father to suicide at age 10. He's obsessed with one very specific Dragon. He killed the digital ghost his step-father left behind. He literally said "Stop saving the world and get a hobby." People are constantly trying to steal his company. He turned the in-universe equivalent of Lockheed Martin into the in-universe equivalent of Nintendo. A second lobotomy would not fix him. He gets his soul stolen more than once. He flies around in a jet shaped like the Dragon he's obsessed with. His entire dueling strategy is summoning the Dragon he's obsessed with and bludgeoning people to death with it. Somehow this strategy worked so well that he never lost before he got lobotomized. People try to kill him with satallites.
He's like 16 years old.
It feels like one of those stories where the rich jerk protagonist buys a bunch of stuff just because he’s attracted to the female lead
Not them looking like ✨ Magical Girls ✨
