Rehursals!

Here we were rehursing the chase scene of our show. I love the rhursals and performance side so much it gives me so much life watching out creations come to life! We had a few sessions with out the tutors where i directed the wolf and hare to help choreograph the scene and elevate it. I really enhoyed this role its so much fun getting into the mind of the puppet and trying to imagine what they are thinking in that scene brings them to life so quickly.

I did these designs to show how the scenery characters could be more present in the chase to make it more dynamic and exciting the for the audience. We found these to be tricky as the scenery people couldnt see so needed sound ques each time to know when to move. so it was hard to seemlessly choreograph with such little time between making to rehurse. If we had more time for rehursals built into the project it would have been so great to be able to spend more time on this to make the chase a really really exciting scene. I think generally i would have loved loads more time to rehurse and to play with the puppets to really understand how to bring them to life. Its a shame, for a devised peice, i thought this would have been a much larger part of the project but its so hard to fit it all in. I think if we did this again devising the story and the blocks of the scene should be done before the project starts that way making starts day one of the project and the sec8nd half of the project can have alot more time for perfecting the performance craft. I think its so vital for any puppet maker to really explore the endless possibilities of a puppet and exhaust every, and any movements its capable of before they really understand how to make a high quality puppet.
