TW: Mentions of tortureÂ
Ryan slowly woke up with a splitting headache. He instinctively went to rub his temple, which he found helped when one of his crew was getting on his nerves. When he couldnât move his arms, he jerked awake, trying to replay the previous events in his aching head. The first thing he remembered was a rival crew, and the second thing he remembered was Gavin.Â
Ryan had to bite his tongue to stop himself from calling out his loverâs name. He was captured by a rival gang. He had to remember his training.Â
Before Ryan even joined the Fakes, he had gone through a significant amount of hell. Working alone would put you in this kind of a position frequently. So, he knew how to deal with torture.Â
Find a different place to be and stay there. Turn off your brain.Â
Then he joined the Fakes, and it got a little harder.Â
The only place he wanted to be was rifled with very sensitive information. Five people and an empireâs worth, to be exact. So, he trained both himself and the entire crew how to avoid letting any information slip.Â
He also had to teach the crew what to do if there was an instance where more than one of them were being tortured. Which is a lot easier said than done.
Usually, only one person is being tortured at a time. Usually, itâs the weakest of the group, as they would be to be the easiest to break. So Ryan had to teach his lovers how to shut down and how to shut out the sounds of each other being beaten.Â
It was hard.
So right now, Ryan had to figure out what was going on. It was pitch black in the room he was in. He couldnât tell if anyone else was there. âGolden?â
Ryan could now think. It didnât sound like any of his captors were with them yet. They were in here alone for now. Ryan was with Gavin, so, if they chose one of them, they would most likely choose... Gavin. Ryan didnât like the fact that Gavin was going to get hurt, but he knew that Gavin wasnât as weak as he looked. He wouldnât break. And Ryan knew that he could tune him out, no matter how hard it would be. He had to.Â
Ryan couldnât think about it anymore, as the door swung open, allowing light to flood in. Ryan could now see the room he and Gavin were in, but he quickly realized he preferred the dark. Him and Gavin were across the room from each other, facing each other. There was a table with assorted instruments of torture that Ryan was too familiar with between them. Before he could let his mind wander to different ways that they could be used, he turned his attention to whoever opened the door. It was three men whom he had never seen before. He almost laughed at the fact this crew was so insignificant. He really had to stop himself from laughing when one of them began to taunt them.Â
âLook at the two of you. Aren't you supposed to be big and scary? Part of the crew that runs this city?âÂ
They both responded with silence. The man walked up to Gavin and grabbed his face, moving his head so they locked eyes. âGolden boy. You're just as pretty as everyone says you are. Give me a smile?â Instead of smiling, Gavin spit in his face. The man responded by punching him in the nose. Gavinâs nose immediately started bleeding, and his captor flashed a smile. âYou should know you're in no position to be rude.âÂ
Gavin rolled his eyes, but stayed silent. The man turned his attention to Ryan. âAnd you. Vagabond.â The man sauntered over to Ryan, and began to pull his mask (which he almost forgot was on) off. The man looked excited, which helped prove Ryan's earlier thought that this crew really didn't know anything about them.
There was an anticlimactic moment when the mask was off and the man didn't recognize him, and Ryan couldn't help but chuckle. âDid I meet your expectations?â
The man frowned, then made a fist and pressed down on Ryan's patched up gunshot wound.Â
Holy fuck Ryan forgot he had that. At least these thugs were kind enough to stop the bleeding and perform basic first aid. Ryan let out a groan of pain, biting his lip. âYou've really let me down, Vagabond. When the boss heard that we caught you, he was actually pleased with all of us. But we didn't deserve it. You just⊠gave up. It's like you didn't even try. Very disappointing.âÂ
It was true, he didn't try. He put all of his faith in the people he loved, in the fact that he hoped they would save him. That he knew they would save him.Â
The one sided banter continued on for quite a while before the man decided to get on with it. And, much to Ryan's surprise, the man didn't focus on Gavin. Ryan was okay, he's had his share of torture in the past. It still fucking sucks, though. About two hours into knives and punches, the man who was originally torturing them tapped out, and one of the other two men who had so far spent the entire time watching switched in. After he had no success either, all three men left for a break.Â
Gavin waited a few seconds to speak. âHow are you doing, Vagabond?â
Ryan laughed, looking up at his boyfriend. âThese guys haven't done this before. All they've been doing is punching me and poking me with a knife.â
Ryan could tell that Gavin was concerned for him, but Ryan was telling the truth. Yeah, he was in pain, but he was doing really well considering they had been there for hours. By now, Ryan would have someone crying. Ryanâs second mistake was assuming this would be easy.Â
Gavin sighed. âThe crew will be here soon.â He looked around the room with an angry fire in his eyes. âWeâll burn this place to the ground.â Â
As if that were a cue, the door opened again. Both Ryan and Gavin looked up to see the new man who opened the door.Â
The man who entered scanned the two over, and his eyes rested on Gavin. âLong time no see, Golden Boy.âÂ
Ryan had never seen this man in his life, and he looked at Gavin, confused. Gavin, on the other hand, had clearly seen this man before. His eyes grew wide, and he took a sharp breath. âDan?âÂ
The man flashed a charming smile, then crossed his arms over his chest. âWe've got a lot of catching up to do, Gavin.â
Back at the base, Michael couldn't do much else other than pace. Jack had asked him to stop multiple times, but Michael planned on leaving a goddamned rut in the ground.Â
Tracking down Ryan and Gav was going to be extremely difficult. Especially because Gav was the one who did the tracking.Â
Jack and Geoff, being the old and wise souls that they are, decided to try and have a crack at Gavinâs equipment. It was harder than it looked.Â
Because Jeremy wasnât invited to help them, he tried to calm Michael down instead. âMichael, theyâre going to be fine.â
Michael looked at Jeremy for a moment, then sighed loudly. âUgh, that doesnât help at all, Jeremy. Youâre supposed to be good at this.â
âHey. Hey.â Michael could see Jeremy try think of something to say, then settle on whatever was going to come out of his mouth. âIâm trying my hardest here.â
Michael rolled his eyes, and Jeremy motioned for him to join him on the couch. Michael stared at him for a few seconds, but begrudgingly joined him. âWhat are you doing?â
Jeremy handed Michael a folder. âIâm scouring physical copies of these... records. Iâm not 100% sure what Iâm looking for exactly, but Iâm sure as hell looking.âÂ
Michael nodded, then looked at the folder in his hands. âWait, what are these even records of?â
âI couldn't tell ya.â Jeremy thumbed through the folder in his hand, as if there may be an answer to Michaelâs question inside. âThey were in a box in Gavinâs file room.âÂ
âWe have a file room?âÂ
âI said the same thing! Apparently he'd been calling one of the spare bedrooms a file room and storing stuff in there since Geoff spilled beer on one of the computers. This one was just labeled ârecordsâ.â Jeremy motioned at the pile of folders with a shrug.Â
Michael sighed once more, thumbing through the folder. âI guess this is good enough for now. It gives us something to do at least.âÂ
âThatâs the spirit!â Jeremy smiled at his boyfriend, handing him another folder, even though Michael clearly hadnât gotten through the first one. âThereâs actually a lot of weird stuff in these. A lot of it doesnât make any sense.âÂ
Michael looked over at Jeremyâs folder for a second. âMaybe we should try putting all of these in some kind of fucking order.â He looked down at his own and searched for a date. âJesus Christ, Gavin. None of this is in any order.âÂ
âNot very Gavin like. I guess he doesnât care about the paper copies that much.â Jeremy looked at the large pile of folders that came from the same box. âI tried to keep them in the order they were in, but it looks like he just threw crap into boxes.â
âJust makes this job even more fun.â Michael bit his lip, flipping through one of the folders on his lap. âThis is so fucked, J.â
Jeremy looked up from the file in his hands, and met eyes with Michael. He frowned, nodding. âYeah, it is.âÂ
They both sat and sifted through papers in silence now. Michael clearly still wasn't very happy with the amount of progress they were making, so Jeremy gave him a quick side hug. âHey, I promise you we're going to find them. They're big boys.â When he saw that Michael still wasn't really reassured, he pulled him closer and kissed his head. âDonât worry. They'll know what to do.â
I know I just posted something like yesterday, but I mean yolo
If people show any interest I may make this a longer thing???? I do have a bit more of it written but I mean if it sucks, whatever

The Vagabond was always known for his aloofness. It was an essential part of his character, which meant it was an essential part of his life. So, as he began to spend time with the Fake AH Crew, it was horrifying. But, at the same time, it was amazing.
He use to believe that his job depended on being alone, but, as he gained the love of five other people, he realized he had no idea what he was talking about. It was scary, sure, retraining himself to accept rather than fend away, but the world can sometimes seem less shitty when you can smile. Now, on those cold nights when every thought is a reminder of the evils he's done, and every dream twists into a nightmare, he has this crew- his crew- to comfort him.
His crew is the only group of people alive who know his real name. They are the only group that he trusts his life to.
But Jesus fucking Christ, they can get annoying.
âRye, can you see me from where you are?â
Ryan turned his head up to the roof of the building next to him. Sure enough, the glint of golden sunglasses caught his eye. âOf course I can, Gavin. Youâre on the building across the street from me.â
âAlright, then can you see⊠this?â Gavin attempted to flip his gun in his hand, but he dropped it in spectacular failure.
Normally, Gavinâs antics would at least get a chuckle from Ryan. But either Ryan woke up on the wrong side of the bed today, or the crew was being exceptionally irksome today. âYou shouldnât be playing with your gun, Gavin!â
Then Michaelâs voice chirped in his earpiece. âThe only gun you should be playing with is my gun, Gav!â
Itâs definitely them today.
They were setting up for their next heist, so it was only the three of them. Geoff and Jack were checking over the getaway cars, and Jeremy was getting the safe house ready. Ryan, Gavin, and Michael were tasked with running a quick scope over the area.
Ryan told Gavin and Michael to check the two sniper spots on the two buildings near the bank so he could have a moment to himself. He loved his boyfriends, but he was still an introvert at heart.
He was already done checking over what he had to check over, so he began to walk around the small section of the square they were in. It was a nice area, he thought to himself while on his short stroll. the streets were surprisingly clean for the city, and the sky shone a radiant blue. There were even little planters in the windows, filled with various easy to grow flowers. Ryan was actually able to name most of them- flowers were a secret love of his- so he could truly appreciate the effort that went into getting them to grow. It almost felt as if the area was too perfect to break the law in. Like it was straight out of a Disney movie or something. Well, a Disney movie based in a shitty city bursting with crime.
The sound of his earpiece snapped him back to reality. âAlright Rye, Iâm heading down to you! Michael is taking his sweet time and Iâm getting bored.â
âHey, itâs not every day you get a view like this!â
Michael laughed, and Ryan could practically see the mix of anger and amusement in Gavinâs face as he cawed back. âExcept it is! We live in a smegging penthouse!â
Despite his mood, Ryan canât help but snicker at their bickering. âJust let him enjoy the view, Gavin. I can keep you company down here.â
As Gavin made his way back to the car, Ryan tied his hair up. It was a force of habit to keep his hair up in its signature ponytail, even when he didnât have to wear his mask. The crew always told him that his hair added to his charm, but it had a habit of getting in his face. For prep tasks like this, he had to keep his mask off to avoid raising suspicion, so his hair would usually be down. It made sense to keep the mask off, but he still didnât like it. Then again, he was starting to realize that he didn't like how the whole crew had to hide behind personas all the time. For all of the time they've run Achievement City, they still were just storybook characters. None of the crew had names (except Jack, who was âJackâ to everyone, but people assumed the masculine name was a code name anyway), which was helpful in escaping authorities, but created an odd double life scenario. Plenty of people in the city probably wouldn't recognize the crew if they changed outfits. It was nearly impossible to think of them as real people. So, on set up missions like this, all of them could just change outfits and walk around the city. Ryan still always brought his mask with him just in case, though, and left it in the back of the car. He probably should leave it in the trunk, in case someone walking past looked in the window, but he was always ready to pull it out. (He called it being smart, but Jack called it asking to be caught.)
As he leaned against the car waiting for Gavin, he took a deep breath. It was definitely just himself. For some reason, he was just on edge today. As soon as Gavin met up with him, heâd have to apologize for being so bitter. Gavin would, of course, make this difficult, as he always did. âThe elusive Vagabond, apologizing to me? Call the police!â In fact, Gavin should have been down by the car by now. For someone who was complaining about wasting time, he sure had plenty of time to spareâŠ
"Did you get lost, Gav-â
âRyan,â Michaelâs voice. He was speaking quietly and sternly, which made Ryan reach for his gun instinctively. âWe have company.â
"What do you mean?â Ryan quickly scanned his surroundings and, upon seeing no one, pulled his mask out of the car and over his head. Whoever this âcompanyâ was, they needed to know exactly what they were dealing with.
"It looks like another gang, but I donât see a leader. Itâs just a bunch of grunts scoping out our bank.â
"Are you sure theyâre a gang? Maybe theyâre just delinquent teenagers.â
"Ryan, I think Iâd know the difference!â Michael's sharp tone indicated that he was certain, and Ryan nodded to himself in thought. He quickly pulled his mask over his head.Â
"Should we take them out?â
"There are a lot of them, and only three of us. If we were to take them out, weâd have to be smart.â There was a pause on Michaelâs end as he scoped out his area. âIâm in a good spot, what about you guys?"
Ryan gave his surroundings another look around. "I donât see anyone, so they must all be on your side of the building. I could get closer easily, though."
There was a momentâs pause.
"What about Gavin?"
Ryan looked at the building where Gavin was stationed moments before. "Gavin, can you hear us?"
Another moment passed.
"Michael, Iâm going to run in to see if heâs in trouble. Donât engage with this other group.â Ryan took Michaelâs silence as an agreement and stealthily made his way into the tall building.
Ryan tried to follow the path Gavin would have had to have taken to get back to the car. He got all the way to the stairs when he heard the sound of a scuffle. To attempt to avoid alerting potential enemies, Ryan made his first mistake and decided against radioing Michael for the moment and made his way towards the sound.
He was led to the elevators, where he saw a group of thugs in masks holding a cloth to a struggling Gavinâs face. By the looks of everyone, Gavin had put up a good fight, but was severely outnumbered. Ryan raised his gun and fired at one of the men holding Gavin, killing him and causing all of his friends to look up. When the remaining men saw the Vagabond, they all drew their weapons and let (the now unconscious) Gavin fall to the ground.
They stood in silence for a few seconds, staring down each otherâs guns. Ryan broke the silence with a growling voice. "Let him go now, and I may kill you quickly.â
One of them pointed the gun at Gavin on the floor. Another one whispered in a panicked voice, âHoly fucking shit, is that the Vagabond? I thought we only had to deal with the Golden Boy!â
One of the more collected ones kept his gun steadily pointed at Ryan. âIâm sure the boss would love both of them.â
Ryan began to analyze the situation, the whole world around him moving in slow motion. If he shot now, either he or Gavin would be dead in seconds. If he waited, they would both be overpowered. If he moved for his radio they would shoot. Ryan steadied his hand and told himself to focus. Who were these people? They spoke of a boss, so theyâre probably grunts. They donât have any compromising information- they only knew Gavin and himself by their code names. They definitely knew who they were up against- they sent in one, two, three... holy shit, they sent seven people to grab Gavin. They're down to six now. Those still aren't good odds. Must be a relatively large crew as well, they sent seven god damn people on a death mission. If Ryan could get a few good shots in it would be an even match... but he'd have to get really good shots in. He couldn't win this fight, not here.
It was moments like these that really showed Ryan how much he truly trusted his crew.
Abandoning any semblance of a plan, Ryan aimed at the man who seemed to be the ringleader of this group, the man who had his gun trained on Ryan's head. "Do you really want this fight?"
"I want him alive!"
Ryan fired at the same time the man fired. As the man crumpled to the ground dead, Ryan felt himself fall. His hand was drawn to his side, where he felt the warmth of his own blood. True to his last words, the lackey wanted Ryan alive, avoiding a killing shot. Ryan did his best to fend off the remaining men, but, now wounded, he knew he didn't stand much of a chance. He turned his earpiece on and shouted to Michael. "Get the rest of the crew, we're-"
A hard hit to the back of the head cut off his sentence. And one more hard hit sent Ryan sprawling to the floor, unconscious.
Hearing Ryan's last message sent Michael into a panic. Michael wanted to do nothing more than to run downstairs and save the two in a heroic bout of rage. But, if the two of them were overpowered, he certainly would be too.
Michael wasn't quite as good as Ryan when it came to thinking under pressure, but Michael somehow managed to decide to stay on the roof and look for the getaway car. Knowing he wouldn't be able to remember anything right now, he took out his phone camera and took a series of pictures as he watched a car peel away from the building. He then called the emergency crew number, reserved for dire situations only. Geoff picked up almost immediately. "Michael? What happened?"
Michael began to trip over his words. "We were getting ready for the heist and Gavin and I were fucking around and--"
"Michael, what happened?!"
"Fucking, some random fucking crew just fucking took Ryan and Gav! I have pictures of the car, I'm sending them to Gav now to-- oh, fuck me, I'll send them to you-"
Geoff shushes Michael. "Can you get back to the penthouse without any trouble, Michael?"
"Yeah, yeah, I think so. I'll head back now. Fuck!"
"Stay on the line. I need to know you don't run into anyone else." The sound of movement increased on both ends, Michael running down the building and Geoff presumably dropping whatever he was doing. "Are you close to the building they were in, can you see if there are any clues to who took them?â
"I'll let you know when I get there." The silence as Michael ran down to the other building was deafening. Geoff sent out a message to everyone saying there was an emergency, and that they had to report to the penthouse immediately. Then Geoff sat and waited to hear anything from Michael. "Oh fuck, oh shit fuck, Geoff."
"Michael, what? Tell me what you see."
As Michael entered the room, he was met with the stench of blood. From where he stood, he could see that some people were shot in one direction, and some were shot in the other. A gun fight. The volume of blood was impressive, considering no bodies were in sight. "There's blood on the ground. A lot of it."
Geoff's heart sank. "Are there any bodies?"
"No,â Michael started. He took a few steps into the room, and saw drag marks through the blood. âbut it looks like bodies were moved. I couldn't see the entrance from where I was on the roof so I don't know whose bodies they were.â Geoff sat on the other end quietly for a moment, waiting for Michael to find something- anything. âFuck, Geoff, there's nothing else here. No calling card or anything. Fuck! I'm coming to the penthouse now."
"Alright, alright, just don't hang up. Be on high alert."
Michael began to run back to his car, frothing with rage. "I'm going to kill every one of these stupid fucks!"

FAHC: Dooleyâs recruitmentÂ
884 words I think, Iâm on mobile so sorry đ
With the Vagabond joining the crew, Geoff decides that one more member couldnât hurt. An interesting decision, to say the least.Â
âGavin, do you see him?âÂ
âYes! He isâŠâ there was a pause as Gavin mapped out directions. ââŠdown that street ahead of you, the first right. Heâs in the pub.âÂ
As Ryan made his way down the road, he heard Michaelâs distant voice in his earpiece. âItâs a bar, Gavin. Youâre literally the person who argued with us for an hour that there was a difference!âÂ
Ryan heard Jack now, even quieter. âMichael, donât start this now, this is a serious mission!âÂ
Ryan attempted to ignore all of them. A feat easier said than done.Â
âSorry Jack, but you have to admit thatâs itâs annoying-âÂ
Ryanâs patience was short lived. âGavin, I can hear everything everyone else in the room is saying. Iâm certain that isnât supposed to happen.âÂ
Ryan heard Gavin gasp in surprise, then hit some buttons and harshly whisper âShut the fuck upâ to the people behind him. âSorry, Ry- ah, I mean, sorry, Vagabond. Sir. Man.â Gavin pinched the bridge of his nose in embarrassment. He always became very awkward when Ryan seemed frustrated. Despite Geoffâs insistence that Ryan âisnât as badâ as his reputation makes him seem, Gavin still nearly pissed his pants every time Ryan said anything to him. Gavin couldnât help it, Ryan was hands down the most terrifying man he had ever met. Admittedly, from his time in Ryanâs ear, Gavin noticed that Ryan didnât seem like the type to slaughter babies in his free time or anything. But he was still intimidating.Â
Through the street cameras, the Fake AH Crew watched Ryan stalk down the street towards the bar. It was late at night, and the street lamps cast an ominous glow over the sidewalk.Â
Usually, Geoff was the one who went on recruitment missions, but he was out of town tonight, and it was the last night Gavin was certain their target was going to be in town. Both Jack and Michael thought that sending Ryan was an awful idea (although they would never say that to his face), but Geoff insisted they send Ryan, mask and all.Â
After composing himself in the moments following his elegant conversation with Ryan, Gavin spoke again. âOkay, I recommend waiting for the target to walk outside. He looks like heâs getting ready to leave, and if you walk in now you may⊠cause a scene.â
Ryan nodded, assuming Gavin was watching and moved to the side of the building. About a minute after leaning against the wall, Gavin chirped in his ear again. âOkay, the target is leaving now. Itâs so dark in this area I wonât be able to- oh, it looks like heâs heading towards you!âÂ
Well, that made it easy. Ryan saw the man walk down the alley he was stood in, and pushed off of the wall when the target was close enough. âDooley. We need to talk.âÂ
The figure seemed surprised, but it took a few steps forward. âHow do you know my name?âÂ
âWe know a lot about you, a-â
Ryan was cut off as the man in front of him finally got a good look at who he was talking to. âOh my GOD! Youâre- youâre the Vagabond!âÂ
âYes, but Iâm not here to-âÂ
âHoly shit, dude, youâre like, my idol! You and the Fakes! And now you even work together and-â Jeremy paused just long enough to interrupt Ryan again. âOh, shit, am I too far into your territory? I donât want any trouble, Iâll just go if thatâs what you wantââÂ
âDooley!â Ryan managed to shut the man up. âIâm here to tell you that Geoff wants to speak to you.âÂ
âThe Geoff?âÂ
At this point, Ryan was genuinely confused. âYes, the Geoff. Listen, kid, do you want to come or not?âÂ
âYes! Yes, I do! Iâll stop talking and everything.âÂ
Ryan sighed loudly and began walking towards his bike. âGavin, are you still with me?âÂ
âYeah, I heard all of that. Seems like you have a fan!â Ryan could practically hear the stupid expression on Gavinâs face, and he decided to ignore that comment.Â
âIâm on my way back. Bringing the target with me.â Ryan began to lead Jeremy towards his motorcycle. âI parked down the road. Hope you like bikes.âÂ
âIâm more of a car person, but thereâs nothing wrong with a good motorcycle! Iâm glad I walked to the bar today, or else this may be awkward. Imagine if we had to take two different cars!â As the two of them made their way towards Ryanâs bike, Ryan had to take a moment to look at the man behind him. He was still rambling out loud, and Ryan wasnât truly listening- he was sure he wasnât missing much. Usually, when people saw Ryan in his full Vagabond outfit, they ran. But this kid recognized him and then became⊠excited.Â
It made him extremely uncomfortable.Â
When they reached his bike, Ryan sat first. Then, for the first time since their meeting, Jeremy seemed uncomfortable. âHey, I wonât make it weird if you donât.âÂ
Ryan actually rolled his eyes, and, for a brief moment, he wished he wasnât wearing his mask just so this Jeremy character could see. He turned back towards Jeremy and snapped at him. âGet on or else Iâm leaving without you.â
That seemed to do the trick, as the man climbed onto the back of the bike, and the bike peeled away, towards the penthouse.
