My first day at my new desk at my new job, and I found the BEST WALLPAPER EVER!
Angry Birds, Free on PC
I just played Angry Birds for the first time (due to a promotion Best Buy is running with Intel to deliver the game on PC for free) and I will say that I'm not impressed. It's just a pretty version of all the flash-based catapult vs. castle games out there, but with much more annoying sound effects. Seriously, is that the voice of Huey/Dewey/Louie when you fling the birds?
I realize that there are trillions of people out there that love the game, so I'll give props to Rovio for creating one of the best selling Apps ever. If you haven't played it yet, click the above link and try it out for yourself.
*Incidentally, you have to say you live in the United States to get the game for free.

After a long hiatus, Chad Concelmo is back with his Memory Card series on Destructoid.com. In each article he visits a memorable moment from past video games. It's pretty great.
Scrooge McDuck, the star of arguably the best game from the 8-bit generation (Disney's Duck Tales), is now available in solid form from my Etsy shop. Get it while it's golden.

In my seemingly endless quest to brew one stupid batch of beer, I've run into another problem.
About a half hour ago I was standing at my sink, peaceably washing some dishes, when I heard a plink. It was an odd sort of noise and it came from a direction it shouldn't have come from. Before the groan could escape my lips I was already in the closet.
There it was. One of the bottles of beer had exploded. It could have been a whole lot worse; in fact, the burst was rather peaceful compared to what I imagined it would be. But there was still beer running down onto some papers and (luckily) getting soaked up by every clean shirt I own. It was my own fault for putting the beer up there, but I wanted it to be in a warm, dark place, and frankly, I'd run into so many problems with this IPA I didn't honestly expect anything else to happen. I've decided to name the beer Murphy's IPA, assuming any of the rest of the bottles survive.
I will say this though: the beer tastes amazing.

You know those old Magic Eye posters where you'd cross your eyes for awhile and then (supposedly) a 3D image would appear? This is like that, but if you cross your eyes you get a 3D image of my big dumb head. Enjoy!

Here's a picture of Bernice, whom I got from my cousin Erin when she moved to Seattle. She was probably the most wonderful cat I've ever encountered.

My flickr Pro account expires today so I'll be losing access to the 10,000 or so photos I have on there. I'm posting a few of my favorites on here, so that's why most of my uploads have been old so far. I'll get back to the new stuff soon.
A self portrait I did almost three years ago. Despite the "beard", not a bad picture.
After 22 days and a series of highly erratic fermentation rates, I finally have 34 bottles and two growlers of a honey IPA. Now I just have to cross my fingers that the bottles don't explode from the priming.

I know they're overdone, but I still like these kinds of photos.
