Explanation of what inspired “Bulls In The Bronx” -

While we were recording, some kids sent us a message explaining that their friend, a young girl at the age of 16, had just committed suicide. They explained that our band had meant a lot to her and felt that they should contact us to let us know what had happened. Attached to the message was a link to her Tumblr page where she had posted a video explaining why it had all come to this and basically saying goodbye and apologizing to anyone who cared about her, even though she was convinced that no one really cared.  It was heart breaking seeing such a young girl saying things like, she’ll “never be anything special” or that she was “ugly and disgusting.”  This video haunted me for weeks and I ended up writing about her every once in a while. Many of our fans reach out to us and let us know the effect our music has had on their lives. We never take this lightly, and it’s important to us to make music that hopefully in some way helps people get through darker times. On Warped we’ve been lucky to meet so many great people, and companies like To Write Love On Her Arms making a difference for teens. It’s important for people to realize that they are not alone, that there are people that can help. Hopefully our music will inspire, and help provide some calm in the chaos.
