I want to try a little experiment, just random shower thoughts... How many of you have been bullied growing up? And how many of you can say it has affected you even still in your adult life? Even if it's subconscious, little insecurities, or anger. I'll start, I was never bullied until I moved to NJ from PA in 3rd grade, and still when I moved again in NJ in 5th all the way up until 10th when I started going to an alternative school and another alternative school after that... I find it kind of funny that it stopped when I left public school, I'll never regret it. Maybe I'm a sensitive butterfly but I still hold a lot of anger over it, not because it made me insecure... but how I felt humiliated in front of a grand audience of my peers that ultimately left me alone and an easy target. To the point that I doubted my ability to defend myself, even when being sexually harassed or worse. I was so humiliated that even telling on them was not an option and would only add fuel to the fire. All I have left now is regret, regret that I didn't spit in their faces when I had the chance and not give a fuck if there were consequences. I guess what I'm trying to figure out is... the whole debate whether or not bullying shapes you and is a necessary obstacle in life. Why do people think that? Is it to prepare us for how shitty the real world is? How we should be prepared for constant rejection and Assholes? Is it because getting trophies even when you lose makes you a cry baby when you don't get your way? Or because people suck and we need to build a thick skin so we don't kill ourselves over the inevitable insults perpetually endured... ? Maybe kick the source in the balls, maybe blame the rapist and not the raped, maybe shut the fuck up and treat everyone how you want to be treated. I don't know, What do you think?
