someone needs to walk up behind him, slip their arms around his waist and give him cuddles at once. and i have multiple candidates for getting the job done. (in fact, whatever, he’s having some rough times. everyone should do it. everyone.)
honestly I feel like hug therapy would be the best thing for Shep in ME3 :( Especially the further along in the game you get. I really loved how they depicted how the war was starting to weigh on him - it wasn’t just in his nightmares, it was in the tired way he spoke to people when it got late, the expressions on his face that he couldn’t quite keep hidden, the lines of his body when nobody else was around to see.
Goddddd, yes. This is the most human Shepard’s ever been, and it was wonderful. Not just in terms of speech, but their emotion, their body language. You could see every death, every hope, every need hanging off their shoulders. So much of Shepard’s existence has been around “what does humanity need” or “what do my friends need”, but you never quite got to see “what does Shepard need”. ME3 took that big step and it came out great. They were still the Big Damn Hero — but the Big Damn Hero was allowed to feel a little pain too.
