“So, What bad thing happened to make you an atheist?”

Me: *Sighs*

Me: There was no tragic event in my life that made me ‘mad’ at God.

Me: My lack of a belief in a deity is based off YEARS questioning the validity of what I was being told. It was hard. especially when I was little and all of the adults in my life firmly believed that Noah’s Ark and Jonah chilling in a whale for three days was indisputable FACT.

Me: I was taught to follow without question. Believe without proof. I was taught that doubt was a tool of Satan, and to doubt the words being said to me was to betray God. If I didn’t believe, than I would be cast into hell-fire for eternity.

Me: I was taught that at the rip age of FIVE.

Me: I became an atheist because after years of trying to make sense of all the illogical inconsistencies, lack of evidence, and complete hypocrisy I realized that there was NO solid reason to believe anything I’d learned at church. The pursuit of knowledge finally convinced me that I had been indoctrinated into believing something that anyone outside of agree’s is batshit insane.

THAT IS WHY I’M AN ATHEIST.
