Mount Batur is an active volcano located at the center of two concentric calderas on the island of Bali, Indonesia. Even though Batur’s most recent eruption was in 2000, its surrounding calderas are populated and contain a total of 15 villages. Most locals here rely on agriculture for income, but tourism has become increasingly popular as visitors trek to the summit of the central crater.
