A magic trackpad competitior for Windows...finally
Hallelujah! It's finally here. So I am a major fan of tochpads. I don't like the mouse and my iPad has me sold on the value of multitouch. I've tried several, but nothing has come close to being able to equal the Magic Trackpad yet on Mac OS X and believe me I've looked. I've tried using the bamboo touch, not quite polished enough and only two finger gestures? Really you think that is multitouch?
Next I went with an MSI Starpad which is my current input device. Three finger isn't bad, it works great in Linux and Windows XP & Vista and 7 with one major caveat. The control software is a joke and all versions I have tried in Win 7 make scrolling a nightmare. Weather it be scrolling tabs rather than the current frame, opening random links on the website during scrolling (blogrolls were a nightmare) it just wasn't cutting it with the control software.
So sans software the MSI offering is alright, but it is small at 2 inches and I can't customize it much because well the control software is how you customize it. This has been a major bummer for me. But not anymore. Logitech is coming to my rescue.
Ok it's not bluetooth, I can handle that. It's still wireless and my desktop doesn't have built in bluetooth anyway so I can exchange adapters. It supports a full four finger swipe which can make for some great multitouch goodness. The touch area is 5 inches, oh the joy, and the batteries supposedly last 3 to 4 months. The adapter also works for other Logitech offerings using the universal adapter, so if I want to pair a wireless keyboard with it they've got me covered. Now on to waiting for it ti finally release.
