how about nayeon being a confident gay usually and Sanas supposed to be doing some assignment but she's distracted by nayeon being so effortlessly pretty and soft in an oversized sweater and glasses and when she tells nayeon, nayeon gets so flustered she almost leaves the room
sana has always thought nayeon was so cool and nayeon thought so too, admiring herself much like others admired her. sana was confident too of course; confident in herself and what she likes, often expressing it when she had a thought more so voicing her opinion than trying to start conversation.
their egos were often different.
nayeon’s inflated thanks to passersby with comments made about how cool she looks and shy smiles fluster by her confidence. her expression calm and posture straight walking the corridors.
sana gives herself the ego. getting everything others give nayeon but from herself.
they’re both popular and have their shared and own little group of friends widened by others they know less.
the friends they share separate class together- chatting amongst themselves for the short walk to what nayeon calls home.
others filter in for hosted study and revision at her place.
it’s comfortable but nayeon won’t relax. not until everyone else is settled; her books brought by sana and set up beside hers yet remain closed. unlike sanas books who’s owner has been concentrated, using the time nayeon scheduled at the start of their friendship to further study the classes they share. she’s sparing glances at nayeon, checking she’s doing ok with greeting whoever showed up to their once intimate study session.
few hours doze away and those who came late leave early, mostly exiting path from living room where sana notices nayeon goes after- cloth in hand she bets, wiping away the water rings and fixing furniture cushions to how they were
sana doesn’t have to look up to know routine.
less than an hour more and the place empties further. sana getting up stretching legs and back walking to familiar kitchen and returning with two glasses of chilled water complete with ice cubes she knew nayeon would want, setting single down on coaster where the hostess would eventually sit and down her own.
soon it’s the two of them again.
sound of door closing they both look at each other. nayeon sighing with eyes playfully widened from door and sana smiling at her before again focusing on study.
nayeon mumbles on her way to bathroom
few minutes more and she’s back.
sana’s focus moving towards her observing change in clothes and face bare from of makeup. she smiles seeing lenses replaced with much more comfortable looking wide thin rimmed glasses and smile grows at the comfortable hoodie they bought together.
nayeon pulls forward fabric to show off with a smile sana returns "we bought this together"
nayeon sits down sighing exhaustion and finally feels comfortable, closing her eyes.
she drinks water she didn’t remember asking for but she needed it.
nayeon sits up, ready to study checking her pockets, huffing almost getting frustrated and sana without asking offers hairband "oh- thanks.."
"you'd be lost without me~"
they study and revise, sana taking small seconds of breaks when eyes travel to look at her longtime friend. It’s not sneaky and she’s not trying to be.
sana’s pencil lays on paper and she doesn’t know when it left her hand.
she’s content watching nayeon study, watching her focus and try for herself.
"stop staring at me" nayeon feels it while she’s going over notes making it far too hard to focus.
nayeon looks at her now, dusting of pink coloring cheeks.
she’d been dressed up all day, looking and being her best for everyone who saw her. confident and charming so use to getting compliments.
but now she was her and sana was glad she was still there.
sana compliments nayeon and nayeon compliments her, it’s nothing out of the ordinary but sometimes the warmth of words feels like more than it probably is.
they look at each other longer than time, seconds going by or maybe hours and nayeon feels her cheeks getting more and more heated from the gentle gaze intense in sanas eyes meeting hers somehow so softly.
nayeon listens to echoing words replaying, like it’s the first time sana’s said it. rehearing the softness and it’s rendered her speechless, silently thinking of the warm moments and memories she has of them.
this didn’t always happen. usually it was just banter, joking until they end up squabbling but when it did she never wanted it to end.
love burns in their chests
neither of them want to look away.
finally sana smiles and nayeon urges herself to look away.
"w-want something to eat?"
the color burns as hot as emotions. sometimes sana overwhelms her when it's only the two of them.
sana giggles when nayeon gets up from the table but her hearts warm watching her move anywhere else. she loves her.
they look at each other, nayeon in kitchen like she was actually thinking of cooking and sana still at the table.
it’s playful again and it’s comfortable
nayeon hums before looking at her phone, placing their usual order.
