What is Four Swords Extended?

Four Swords Extended, or FSE for short, is a 3d animated series expanding on the events of the Four Swords manga written and illustrated by Akira Himekawa. We work in Blender, using cell shading to create a mix of the manga art style and the toon art style shown in Wind Waker and other toon games.

I'd like to apologize for the lack of updates! We are now on the voice acting stage for the teaser shorts (our "pilots"), and will be working on storyboards very soon!

Because we don't have many on our team, we'll be releasing clips of the storyboards within the next couple months to hopefully attract some people who might want to be on board! More details will come soon.

Keep in mind this is a volunteer project. If you'd like something to put on your portfolio, we'd be happy to have you on! Our budget, however, goes mostly towards required software.

It is! Progress has just been very slow, with our team prioritizing our irl responsibilities

Hey y'all! It's been a second. We've gotten scripts for 2 promotional shorts (akin to the bonus manga) finished, Green's short and Blue's short, and we're excited to introduce our versions of the Links through these promotional shorts!

In the moment, I'm in the middle of moving, and am currently 13 hours away from my new home. As soon as I'm settled, I'll be getting to work on looking through applications I'm way behind on.

In the meantime, Ben ( @rootboots ) has been experimenting with more cartoony shaders with outlines! This is a learning process for all of us, so bare with us as we figure things out!

When you audition for a character will you get a message or anything saying if you got the role for the character or not?

Yes, you will! Auditions will likely not close for a while, though, so it'll take a while for us to pick out characters. We simply aren't getting enough auditions for the scale of the project.

Happy Four Swords on Switch day. Here's a promise that I'll finish retopo today and my dog.

Hey y'all! Just a quick little reminder that we have a discord server! We have exclusive mini updates frequently, along with a welcoming community of fans!

Also, Links model update. He looks a little freaky because he's bald and has no irises, but this will change once everything is fully retopologized!

The FSE community discord server will also have an event for this year's art fight, so stay tuned for that!

Links' model isn't anywhere near done because I'm a dumb idiot baby who learned to model on zbrush but I did make a toon shader that we'll be using for the show!

First off, we're about to move on to the script! Once the outline we have is reviewed, our writers will move onto the script. We're one step closer to something presentable!

okay, could I have a list of characters yet to be designed? I dont wanna redraw something another person has already worked so hard on 😭 (also good practice for me because I only really draw link 💀)

You'll be given a list of characters that need designs if you're accepted into the team. For now, you can just submit designs you've already come up with

aside from the looming hell that is school, I could probably help with character designs

maybe give me some pointers for what you want, but otherwise I should be able to think of things (maybe get in a call or add notes to the sketches)

if I do officially join the team I think i'll hop into the server too 👍

If you'd like to join the team, fill out the form with character designs you've come up with. This could be original characters or fan-designs! Medieval fantasy designs are preferred, but any designs you have are fine.
