Excited to take this girl to another dog show this weekend. She is only a handful of points away from her Grand Championship. There is a slight possibility she could finish this weekend if she gets at least Select both days. It would be an accomplishment that I myself had doubts we would reach, Chances are we most likely won’t finish this weekend, but hopefully we will be a lot closer! Hard work, dedication, and a little bit of faith pay off!
It is extremely snowy here. We have had feet of snow fall in one week. Several storms have just unleashed their fury on the Northeast. I have had a new love and appreciation for snow since I have moved back home. I love the silence that happens only during a snowstorm. The gentle calm and chaos that seems to only co-exist during a snowstorm. I love winter... I need to get out in the elements more and shoot. I just feel like I can’t capture the true beauty with a lens. I often find myself just putting the camera away and just living.
Missing this view.... Can’t wait for the spring when we can get into camp and I can once again relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. Can’t wait to hike some of those mountains and take my pups and cameras along for the ride. This summer is going to be the best ever!
Had a friend join me for coffee this morning. Thought I would take a quick photo, this little one posed for me for a solid 10 mins. Thank you little one for making my day a bit brighter already :-)
Sometimes you have to slow down and really look around. You will start to see things you would have passed in your whirlwind life. So stop, breathe, and embrace the moment.
Somethings are a reminder of a simpler time. This is an old fence post that has been left at an old farm. This is on the way to our camp, where most my adventures start. This serves as a welcome... welcome to a place where time stands still and the echoes of the past are still in the present, Stop and appreciate life. Do not let the world pass you by. Be present.
My last pup pack introduction.
Everyone, meet Casco. He is my brother’s dog. Currently, my brother is currently attending Tufts Dental School. While Darren works towards becoming a doctor, this lovely boy has been living with me and been part of my pack for the past couple of years. I am no fool though, Casco’s world revolves around Darren. He would wouldn’t think twice about leaving me for Darren. When Darren is around he is the happiest I’ve ever seen him. Casco truly has the heart of an adventurer just like my brother. They love to explore and are happiest out in the wild. He also is a slight bit fetch-obsessed. Seriously...he won’t stop.
He will be 5 years old in April (along with Camden). He is 4 days younger than Cami and they have been growing up together since we brought them home.
He is a beautiful and serious boy. A lot of my photos of him capture his serious nature. I always get excited when I capture a bit of the goof coming out :-)
You will continue to see pictures of Casco and the rest of the pack through our adventures!
Time to introduce the leader of my pup pack, this is Quinni. She is named after my alma mater, Quinnipiac University. Most the time I just call her Quinn, Quinndalin, Quinnella DeVille... I could keep going. She is a miniature pinscher and will be 7 in October. She is the original pack member. Her world revolves around me and as wonderful of a feeling that is, it also presents some interesting challenges. I am proud of how far she has come. We have had some rocky times as she does not like strangers. You have to let her come to you, but once you are in her circle she will show you all the love you can handle. Don’t let her 10lb frame fool you, she plays with the “big dogs.” She can give the tollers a run for their money at fetch and will carry the largest ball, frisbee, or stick she can find. No fear and the heart of a lion. She will tackle every rock, hill, mountain as long as her people are by her side. I do take her with me on some adventures, but she also does stay home at times. You will see a lot of Quinn as the subject of many photographs. I love capturing her personality and this sense of “big dog, little body”. She does not understand her own size. World, meet Quinn.
Good Morning,
I feel another introduction is in order. This beautiful girl is Camden, often referred to as Cami, Cami-Cam, Cam-a-lou... the list goes on. She the sweetest and most loyal companion. She is a 4yr old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (NSDTR), known as tollers. They toll ducks in for hunters. I myself do not hunt, but she is the perfect travel and adventure buddy. She is too smart for her own good, as most of her breed are. Tollers are the smallest of the retrievers and there for easy to lift and carry over tricky terrain. I am so grateful I fell into this breed. It will be a life long love affair.
Fair warning: You will see a lot of pictures of Camden on this site, as well as my other dog(s). I love to take pictures of dogs (almost as much as my nature photography). She will be a common theme, I do have another pup who I will introduce at a later time. Also, my brother has a toller as well the same age as Camden. All three tend to be subjects of impromptu photo sessions and have learned to just stay and let me do my thing, rewards will come later :-)
As I set forward on adventures to capture amazing shots it is more than likely she will be by my side or blazing the trail ahead of me. I felt a formal introduction was in order. Meet Cami.

Welcome! I want to start by introducing myself, my name is Ashley. I am 30 year old living in the United States. I have gotten my first DSLR and am starting to learn photography. I wanted a place to share my photos... some edited some not. I will be trying new things and learning with every photo I take. I will try to share photographs and the stories behind them. This a journey and I mean to enjoy the ride.
The above picture is of our ‘Boat House’ which is located at my family’s camp (soon to be lake house). This building will not only be moved to another location on the property, but is going to go through many changes over the next few years. It will be interesting to look back at how it evolves. For now, I’m just enjoying it the way it is. Rustic charm.
