if i was as true-hearted of a hetjoshi as i claim to be, i’d be more excited about the brashen-althea-gragório lourve triangle.. #poser
whats a stereotype for your country that you absolutely do. mine is that i unironically go "eh" and apologize a lot and i often drink maple syrup straight

the one little drawback of getting super into [book series i don’t need to name] is that it’s making my general fiction genre unawareness very apparent to myself… this is because for the last 3 years i lost all interest in anything but nonfiction &, like, manuals, with the one exception being the 68 stellan skarsgård films & 3 shows i shoveled in over that period
re: this, in the works i explore for fun in my free time i tend to avoid very intentional-type coming of age narratives, particularly those that believe they have something to say while running the whole emotional gamut of feel-good to bittersweet to regretful hand-wringing over ‘lost years’ (ie. innocence) - right now i’m thinking of big sweeping, john williams score american cultural product stuff, although certainly those are only a slice of the overall chart - it’s always intensely bothered me from all angles. but now i kind of feel i can’t quite satisfactorily articulate what it is about robin hobb’s approaches that i enjoy so much without going back & delving into them serious style… curious if anyone has any suggestions about genre hallmarks in this regard?

recalling the college promotional emails i was getting for a while about their new summer outreach program for supporting middle or high school-age girls interested in STEM that was pithily named ‘launch & ignite’

it’s kind of crazy that robin hobb wrote verity farseer before ‘millennial older brother’ was even a coherent concept
