Dave Goelz persuaded Jerry Juhl and Jocelyn Stevenson that, in Season 2, Boober should develop a cooking obsession. “It just helped to make him even more interesting and entertaining,” says Goelz. “It was his way of transcending his fears. He was terribly worried about life, but then, if he could make a nice bisque, it helped him forget for a while. I think that’s, in a way, how we get through life.”
