Castiel: (using Claire as a vessel) Of course we keep our promises. Of course you have our gratitude. You served us well, your work is done. It’s time to go home now. Your real home. You’ll rest forever in the fields of the Lord. Rest now, Jimmy.
Jimmy: No. Claire?
Castiel: She’s with me now. She’s chosen. It’s in her blood, as it was in yours.
Jimmy: Please, Castiel. Me, just take me. Take me, please.
Castiel: I wanna make sure you understand. You won’t die or age. If this last year was painful for you, picture a hundred, a thousand more like it.
Jimmy: It doesn’t matter. You take me. Just take me.
Castiel: As you wish.

There isn’t much he knows how to do and feel nowadays, but major factors still stayed with him from his old life.
Protect and love.
The two merged into one parental instinct that has awoken the minute his blue orbs laid eyes on the blonde girl before him.
So many years have passed since that day in the warehouse where he last laid his eyes on his daughter. Helplessly used as a vessel, he, exhausted and hurt begging the angel to leave her, to not break her like he did to him, to use him, not her as his eyes and body. So many years, yet she hasn’t changed at all in his eyes.
“Claire.”
Her name leaves a bitter taste on his tongue as he remembered. He abandoned her for what? A broken promise of paradise, serving a greater purpose. He put her in danger, albeit unknowingly, but he had been warned about it happening. He stayed away from her and Amelia for that reason only.
Protect and love, all he knew to do in that very moment.
As soon as he spoke her name, she knew. Claire knew it was real. This wasn't some dream, some feverish hallucination he was real. He was real and alive. It felt as though her heart was about to burst.
For years, she'd prayed. She'd prayed to Castiel to bring her dad back. Eventually, those prayers turned to curses and vows to hunt him down and take her dad back herself.
"Daddy "
Claire's voice fails her. That one, single word comes out as a choked sob, and she's running towards him, closing the space between them in a desperate embrace. It's as though all at once, she's a little child again, clinging to her father and hiding from the monstrosities of the world.
Her body trembles weakly in his arms. The ex-vessel seemed to lose all strength the moment her arms wrapped around her father, going near-limp in his arms. Her breath comes in choked hiccups, sobs that wreck her whole body and leave her unable to speak unable to do anything but cling to the man she calls a father.
His vesselhood had changed her. It had changed her, perhaps, more than her own had. The sheer fact that he'd been taken from her was the reason an angel blade hung loosely at her hip. It's the reason 'JAMES' is tattooed in black on the inside of her right wrist, with a solid black cross underneath. It's the reason she's cold and mistrusting and so very, very broken
It doesn't matter anymore, though. It doesn't matter, because he's there, and he's alive.
That's all that matters, in the end.

Claire is speechless.
It isn't that she can't find the words to speak. No, she knows plenty that she could say, knows so much that she longs to say to her father who appears to stand before her, alive and well and not Castiel. There's so much she's wished that she could tell him over the years and yet, now that she seems to have her chance, her throat feels dry and her tongue all too heavy in her mouth.
Her lips part, her mouth opens, but she can make no sound.
He's alive.
He's okay.
The gravity of it all is enough to cause silent tears to streak down her cheeks. Claire stares. She finds herself cemented to one place, unable to move, unable to speak. All she can do, really, is gape at the man, unable to believe her own eyes.
Her father is alive.
Maybe there really is a God.
Jesse watched as her expression changed, for his whispering had obviously not been low enough. “I..” His mouth suddenly went dry as her hand rested on her hip, obviously a blade was hidden under there. “I said you were impossible.” He finally finished, chewing on his bottom lip in discomfort.
"You said something else." There was a hidden spark of fear in Claire's eyes. Fear and adrenaline burned through her veins like silver fire that ease in speech and action that she'd had when teasing him was all but gone, replaced by rigid, quick mannerisms, fueled by a base need to survive. "Don't lie to me."
Jesse growled, a low, angry, animalistic sound one did not often hear from a human’s lips. Crossing his arms he looked away, mouth turned upside down into a progressively cold looking frown. “You’re unbelievable. Why would an angel ever want you as a vessel I’ll never know.” The last part was a whisper, to himself. Jesse had known what she was from the beginning, though he made no sign to talk about it.
That impish little smirk on Claire's lips faded almost instantly, replaced by a guarded and vaguely fearful expression. "I'm sorry what?" It had been hard to hear, but she could've sworn he'd said something about angels and vessels Swallowing thickly, she let one hand drift down to the angel blade that hung at her hip, never taking her eyes off of him. "Whatever you say, buster."
”Didn’t have breakfast this morning.” He grumbled, sitting down next to her. “Jesus fucking christ shut up.”
Claire quirked a brow over at him, smirking like the cat that got the cream. "You should really see about getting that thing removed, y'know." Pausing, she took a drag off her cigarette and continued. "It's no fun for anyone when you've got a stick up your ass."
Who pissed in your cheerios this morning, huh?

Claire's mother, Amelia, committed suicide when Claire was fifteen.
She was the one who found her lifeless body on the bathroom floor.
