Flaxen locks lay silent aside her garbs cloth and fairer fabric, brows arising thus against her visage. Ah, the vows and the promises that all must make. Both eternal and short lived; she knew them.
“Yes, many I do. Those that I plan to keep, but some lost.”
"...Lost?" Seto didn't quite understand that term. How can someone lost a promise? Unless..
"..Did you forget some promises?" His head tilted, optics wide with wonder, blinking curiously at the being before him, expression paved with naivety, there was much room for him to grow, that was evident enough.
"Like losing your memory?"
おねむ by うろこ
A smile gentle upon pallid lips, soon to utter fellow words adorned in placid chord alike. “And hope it shall be. Do you have promises also?”
Seto returned said smile, her tone unfamiliar, yet drawing him in, as did most new and unfamiliar things, his curiosity always got the better of him. And then the question asked..
Promises.
"--I do," he replied, "lots, and I plan to keep them. You do too, right?"
”The first month of the year is a particular one. Those of making promises and of what this year shall bring.”
"--Can only hope for the best," Seto would point out, optimism sure in his tone towards the other.
Crow:
Svelt limbs lower, folding across his chest as he tears his gaze away from the radiant moon that hung low within the sky. Another short tone of acknowledgement and approval extends from his vocals, sharp gaze trained upon violaceous hues. “With company, more ground can be covered. Maybe we’ll find heaps of other neat stuff—!”
A pause as he somersaults from the fencepost to the ground and lands upon the gravel with a soft thud. Curiosity gnaws at his processors — A cant of the head, thin brows rising, furrowing in interest at the nomad’s gesture. “…Hm?” What did that mean? He was sure he’d seen that one before. Taking a step forward towards Seto, he reciprocates, wrapping his own metallic appendage around his and offering a soft squeeze of what he could only deem as a mixture of reassurance and confirmation.
That’s right. This meant, ‘I promise’.
“Toge…ther… Mhm. Together!” An enthused nod follows his cacophonous exclamation as he releases his hold upon the boy’s digit, only to swivel upon his heel, hollow limb raising to swing and loop around his companion’s neck in some kind of halfhearted side-hug. “It’s been a long time, hasn’t it…? But together, we won’t be so alone. Because that’s what best buds are for.”
Something that was both enjoyable and productive, and more importantly, spending time with his best friend, what more could Seto really ask for at this point? Digits followed the other, it's a miracle and also a wonder on how Seto could keep up sometimes with the individual, the smile returning to it's normal state as the gesture was returned, although of course Seto had to remember that Crow was learning, just as much as he himself was, and though books can tell you of many wonders, it's a different thing entirely to take action yourself.
Like previously, there had been a moment where Seto had contemplated letting himself get attached, getting his hopes up, in case if he was to lose someone again. Grief was terrible, un-welcomed, and Seto had been experiencing such a thing more so than he liked. The very thought of losing another wasn't something he wanted to experience again, and so the confidence embedded in Crow's tone was certainly something he'd needed for reassurance.
"Mhm. And we'll find others, I'm sure of it."
Hues swiveled again,a slight dis-balance in his stature as the other did so, a chuckle escaping as an enthusiastic nod was then given, his searching was tiring, no doubt, again, he'd considered it luck to bump into Crow as many times as he did.
We'll never be alone.
"The bestest buddy I could ever ask for." Reassurance was a thing. "We can start more journeys together, like the pirates from that book..."
Hey... must everything in this world change?
Once upon a time ago, Link would be able to sleep for nine hours straight without any trouble, then wake up, do his chores, and take a nap. He had enjoyed sleep as much as anyone, despite the teasing or gentle scoldings he would recieve if he slept too much.
Now, however, he was lucky if he could even get a few hours of rest.
Lake Hylia was where he had set up camp tonight, leaving Epona to graze and drink while he made a small fire and took shelter in a deep cave beside the waters. He had made sure to eliminate all of the monsters the lurked in the cavern, and he felt he could finally rest easy.
And rest easy he did, until Epona’s panicked pawing at the earth near his head woke him up. The fire had gone out, only smoldering now, as he wearily picked up the Master Sword, strapped his shield to his arm as a precaution, and lit his lantern, clipping the light to his belt as he warily stepped out of the cave, trying to spot whoever, or whatever, had spooked his horse.
Whatever was out here in the darkness, it was staying hidden. But Epona wouldn’t show such concern if there was nothing worth waking her master.
”Who’s there?”
He was cloaked with nerves, of course, never had Seto wandered to such an area like this before, a land where less ruin stood, exposed to such wonder and beauty of which Seto has never seen before, a place so breathtaking that it drew him in with every step, certainly a big contrast to that of a desolate wasteland where destruction had met, although he couldn't see any people, the land and giant lake was enough to have Seto so captivated. He took his approach nervously, his bamboo sword held in tight grip in case of running into any malicious entities here, usually he'd hear the groaning, but instead it was just silent, only the sound of the faint crackling of a fire which soon died out, leaving Seto in near pitch blackness, tempted to use his flashlight, however that'd surely give him away to any potentially lurking predators.
He'd been squinting so hard that he hadn't realized just how much noise he must have made to have woken somebody up, hearing sudden approaching footsteps had Seto suddenly rooted on the spot, fear cloaking one's expression and his bamboo sword held high, preparing himself for what beast was lurking to attack. And then suddenly--
A human voice.
It was a human's voice, right? A voice alone was enough to instantly put him at ease, although when shock and realization hit again as the stranger approached him closer, venturing out of the curtain of darkness, Seto raised his arms a little higher again, trying his best to hide the lingering fear, his tone alone felt so very forced.
"J-Just me," he replied, "who.. or what.. are you?"
Crow:
“—Yeah!” He gives another fervent nod, a short echo of confirmation passing his lips as he lowers metallic appendages to his hips and returns to his full stature. Turning his head left, then right, he exhales a low whistle, malachite optics scrolling across the ruins and wreckage in their ever roaming piety. “Hey, if you decide to, we can search for treasure together—! Nothing says ‘fun' like a treasure hunt with your best bud.”
A cheerful grin consumes his lips as he turns upon his heel once more, and, with an effortless hop, step, and a jump, lands himself upon a nearby fence post. “Yeah, and—” He pauses, raising a hand to his forehead in an almost mock salute, cattish hues scanning above the dilapidated buildings in mild curiosity, “—Maybe I’ll find out something about myself, too! It’s a win-win, and a total no-brainer.”
"Of course." He wouldn't have it any other way, after all, Seto always loved the company of others, it was never fun doing things alone, even if the boy had no choice but to come accustomed to it. His smile grew wider, expression filled with excitement, never had he felt so calm, it was moments like these that'd make Seto feel so carefree. Even if he had a goal, there were times when Seto felt content with just this, just his best buddy and him, treasure hunting together.
Violet hues followed Crow's movement, the smile faltering a little upon the mention of Crow's mysterious past, the topic itself had Seto curious, of course, but also a little sad, sad that he couldn't remember anything, Seto knew that if it were himself, he couldn't help but feel frustrated, always the type to wanting to know more, it'd leave him restless. It was then when he gave a sharp nod, the smile returning, because optimism certainly helped a lot. "Yes, we'll definitely find out, no doubt about it, okay?"
He raised a hand, pinky finger pointing out in the direction of the hyperactive robot, "we'll figure it together!" Two heads are certainly better than one, and they were a team, right?
Crow:
“I collect ‘em. Crows like shiny things, y’know—?” A hasty, owlish blink, sly optics scrolling to meet the nomad’s perspective, then a curious cant of the head, grin widening. “—See! You found somethin’ too! Fun, huh?”
Swiveling upon his heel, he thrusts his arms into the air ardently, a melodic chuckle gliding from his lips. Hopping over to astride Seto, he leans close, malachite hues inspecting his haul.“—Neat-o! I’ll let you keep that one.”
"So I'm doing it right?" A grin is given in return, honestly pleased that he'd found something that Crow thought was neat, clearly he was getting the hang of it, and the satisfaction finding bits and bobs like this, Seto had come to realize, really was a lot of fun, after all in a world as desolate as this, who knows what could be laying underneath rubble and within ruins. It was certainly a good time-killer, that's for sure. "It is fun.. maybe I can start doing this everyday." As well as continue with his initial objective, of course.
His gaze returned from Crow and to the spoon lying in his palm before opening his satchel and dropping it in, along with a few other things he'd come to collect himself. "I wonder if I can find any clues.. you know, to finding more people."
“—Seto! Best buddy! Fancy seeing you here.” Mechanical appendages lift deftly, an enthused wave, broad grin spreading across his lips. “There’s all sorts of neat stuff you can find if you just dig around a little.”
"Crow! Mhm!" It shouldn't be too unusual now to see his best friend in such a place, one of which would always capture his interest, although Seto had yet to understand the fun in what he'd considered to be Crow's hobby. "I bet-- ah!"
Something caught his eye, pieces of cutlery, a discarded spoon with something wrapped around it, some sort of wire.. "...what do you do with these sorts of things though?"
“Man, there’s all sorts of shiny stuff here. Yahoo! More stuff for me~♪”
"Eh? What things did you find? --How do you find them?"

█❃▌┋ Such quiet approach was noticed well before syllables came to greet her, yet again inquiring after that which she had spoken out against before even asking after her name.
How indomitably rude.
”Insufferable lot, you creatures." Exasperated tone with the boy, brow arched as she pivots her head on her neck to peer at him, staff glowing before dimming as a lithe hand grips at her hip, fingers smoothing over the leathers. "I’ve none that are of your concern; none that you could comprehend were I to spell it out. Have you come to dig my intentions out of me? Or perhaps something more useful, such as my name?”
Most certainly a response Seto did not expect, of course the boy had yet to grow used to such different mannerisms given by others, after all, social contact was still a foreign concept to him, despite the fair few friends he'd made in the past, all of which had ceased to exist now, or so Seto thought, and after much grieving had he managed to stumble upon another living presence, be it a spirit or a human, Seto did not care. There was a moment of silence as the boy's eyes grew wider, lips parting in shock before a stutter came, how was he to respond? Wouldn't it be rude not to at all? A fight was certainly the last thing he wanted, whether verbally or not.
"N-No, I didn't want that at all," Seto replied defensively, frowning. Such situations would remind Seto of Shin's intentions of why he wanted to destroy every living thing on Earth in the first place. "I was just curious, I didn't mean anything bad by that at all."
"Is it wrong to ask your name...?"
