First of all, congratulations to the Fandom.

Seriously.

This morning, while making my coffee before work and doing my usual scroll through Instagram to see what had been posted overnight before I logged into my marketing job at a large company, I noticed something interesting. Fan account after fan account was posting about how beautiful Hudson and Katelyn are together, how happy they look, and what a wonderful couple they make.

And it got me thinking.

An entire weekend of public appearances apparently wasn't enough to convince people that Hudson and Katelyn are the picture of relationship bliss, but one Instagram photo seems to have done the trick.

Let's review.

At the Canada Screen Awards, fans noticed there was no red carpet kiss, no red carpet hug, very little visible physical affection, and after the parties Hudson and Katelyn weren't exactly giving "newlyweds at Disneyland" energy. In fact, a lot of the discussion afterward centered on how much more animated Hudson appeared with coworkers than with his girlfriend.

Then came one Instagram photo.

And suddenly fan pages are full of: "Look how happy they are!" "What a beautiful couple!" "Relationship goals!" "They look so in love!"

As someone who works in marketing, I have to tip my hat. The Fandom has accomplished something remarkable: they've managed to make a single still image outweigh an entire weekend's worth of live, unscripted public interactions.

That's not even sarcasm. It's genuinely fascinating.

Because the actual event footage, photos, and eyewitness accounts became secondary. The narrative became the photo.

The fans are now doing the heavy lifting themselves, reinforcing the message that Hudson and Katelyn are happy, stable, and thriving together.

Whether that was intentional or not, it's objectively impressive from a branding perspective.

The lesson?

Sometimes a carefully chosen image isn't powerful because of what's in it.

It's powerful because people enthusiastically fill in the blanks for you.

So once again, congratulations to the Fandom.

You've accomplished something remarkable: you've managed to sell Hudson and Katelyn's relationship as a happy, stable, thriving union based on a couple of strategically placed Instagram photos, despite an entire weekend of public appearances that left many fans debating the exact opposite.

From a marketing perspective, that's impressive.

You successfully communicated a message that Hudson himself never quite managed to communicate through his own actions.

Truly, a team effort.

Today reiterated to me that I'm a pool girlie through and through as during my first excursion to the sea in 2 or 3 years, I cut my palm and thigh on rocks, got extremely sunburnt, and am now suffering a mild heatstroke... But off the top of my head, apart from Cara's, Gracie's, and Alexa's Met pics/vids, Cara also posted their "I'm passing the phone" vid from December like a week or so afterwards. Eva Chen also posted about her favorite Hudcon at the Met memory being "they were always looking for each other" before deleting that story expeditiously😅 The infamous Tiffany Haddish clocking a bit after the Met also. Haley Lu Richardson is a BIG Hudcon fan lol so much so they gifted her a Hudcon cardboard cutout in an interview appearance where she said "They look so beautiful... together."

I'm not even talking about the HR peeps here...🫠

Did you notice that every person who worked with the boys have been rooting for them? Even though these are personal projects for them.

It's like they know these two are in love and it sucks because the industry, their career, their team, media.

But witnessing what they have is too precious, and they can't help themselves and want to root for them anyway : the cardboard of C on set for H, celebrities like Cara or Gracie posting them, other celebrities from SNL or the industry shipping them.

It's like : we know the system sucks but what you have is too rare to be downplayed.

And they celebrate their love for them, because they know that they can't do it themselves, which sucks so much

Have we talked about the Apple TV Lucky cast and the overlapping Hudcon friend groups yet?

So Anya Taylor-Joy and Drew Starkey star in Lucky, which premiered last night and at whose after party Connor was spotted in LA last night.

And remember that Hudcon were super particular about those they posed with at the VF after party? Hudson with Olivia Rodrigo, and Connor? With AT-J.

And Drew and Odessa A’zion were among the people with Hudson *in the street* on the morning of May 5th after exiting their shared transport from Monsieur.

Drew is also starring in the Margaret Qualley movie, King Snake, that was filming in Arkansas, and Hudson started following Margaret on insta over Easter weekend. He was also following Anya after Oscar weekend, and liking her posts.

Anyway - not sure if portends anything but it is fun that they have such overlapping friend circles.

It is interesting that they seem to be circling similar people over multiple events🤔

Also we haven't talked about why C was at that event yesterday either. Methinks it's another establishment for C = LA if H turns up in Toronto soon so they "don't overlap"...

We really all underestimate the media who said : "Williams is fiercely protective over Storrie"

He always says that he can take everything and it doesn't bother him. But if it's hurting the one he loves, he will do everything in his power to protect him.

The met gala was a test and everything blew up. Even the traditional media were shipping them. And it must have been overwhelming for C, not for the unperceived (he doesn't care about her).

Ensuing all the strategy to push the other one to the gp. It protects C and his career. It also protects H.

I have the feeling that it's a lot of sacrifices for both of them, but H is really trying to protect him at all cost.

The problem is that the unperceived is now greedy and want more attention. That was not planned and it's not sustainable for him anymore. We all saw it.

I don't know why and how, but these two follow the trajectory of their characters sometimes and it's scary accurate
